Gorgeous Grape Cardstock
3-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ (1)
1-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ (1)
1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″ (1)
1-5/8″ x 1-7/8″ (2)

Choose a 12 x 12 piece of coordinating colored cardstock and cut at the 5 1/2″ mark.

Place the edge of the paper at the 1 3/4″ mark and cut starting 2 inches down from the top of the paper to the 10″ mark on the clear plastic guide (or 2 inches from the bottom of the paper).
Rotate the paper 180 degrees and repeat placing the opposite edge of the paper at the 1 3/4″ mark and starting 2 inches down from the top of the paper cut a slit in the paper from the 2″ mark to the 10″ mark on the clear plastic guide.
Place the paper back in the trimmer with the slit cuts positioned perpendicular to the cutting track. Place the edge of the paper at the 2 inch mark and score above the slit mark to the top of the page. Pick up the cutting blade and move it to right below the bottom slit mark and score from the bottom slit mark to the bottom of the paper. See image below.
Move the edge of the paper to the 4 inch mark and score at 4″ from the top of the page through both slit marks to the bottom of the paper.
Rotate the paper 180 degrees and repeat the scores at the 2 inch mark score above the top slit mark to the top of the paper. Pick up the scoring blade and place below the bottom slit mark and score to the bottom of the paper.
Repeat the 4″ score from the top of the paper to the bottom scoring perpendicular to the slit cuts.
FInished the paper should look like the one pictured below.
Cut the coordinating cardstock into 5 pieces.
Gorgeous Grape Cardstock
3-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ (1) used for the card front
1-7/8″ x 5-3/8″ (1) far right piece
not lettered
1-7/8″ x 1-7/8″ (1) (G in photo below)
1-5/8″ x 1-7/8″ (2) (A) and (B) in photo below
Cut a piece of Designer Series Paper to
5-3/4″ x 5 1/8″
If the paper has a directional pattern make sure that the 5 3/4″ cut is going across the paper and the 5 1/8″ is the dimension going from the top to the bottom of the paper directionally so the pattern will be right side up on your card!
Cut the paper at 3 7/8″ along the 5 3/4″ side this will leave you with two pieces 3 7/8″ and 1 7/8″
(F) Cut the 1 7/8″ piece at 1 5/8″ from the top and (H) cut 1 5/8″ from the bottom and keep the pieces together so the patterns match (this will make it easier to place on the card.)
Cut the same 1 5/8″ off the top of the 3 7/8″ piece (piece C) and 1 5/8″ off the bottom (piece E) . You will use all three pieces in order on your card base. The piece in the middle will be 1 7/8″ and be (D) in photo below.
Adhere cardstock pieces A and B as shown in photo below.
Adhere DSP pieces down the center (C), (D), and (E) as shown in the photo below.
Adhere DSP layers (F), and (H).
Adhere the cardstock pieces (G) and the long piece to the right of those to the base as shown in the photo below.
Fold the cardstock at the score lines as shown.Valley fold between A and C and between B and E. Mountain fold between the word (adhere) and D, between C and F and between E and H. score another valley fold inbetween D and G!
Add a sentiment Over G and the middle part of the long cardstock piece this piece will measure 1 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ approximately.
Adhere the card front to the front of the card where it says adhere in the photo.
I stamped the flower images from the Happiness Abounds Stamp set and colored them with the new In Colors Orchid Oasis and Parakeet Party and Fresh Freesia Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers and die cut them as decorations for the card front!
Although a few steps the card is not difficult to make and what a WOW it is!
Hope you give this special card a try and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

inspiring canopy dies background and inspired thoughts set

inspiring canopy dies background and inspired thoughts set

In the Inspiring Canopy dies set, there is a thin edgelit die and you look at it and most probably say what do I do with this! Taking cardstock and using this edgelit makes a sweet little edge that is perfect for enhancing your card making. In this card that I cased from one of our Artisan design teams members – Creative Chelsea – thanks for the inspiration.

Measurements:
Pool Party 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Cardstock strips 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ two pieces of
three different colors ( I used Pool Party,
Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay)
scraps of Soft Sea Foam
scrap of Crumb cake
scrap of Basic White
Scrap of Pool Party
Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″

Take two Stitched Rectangle Dies to make a frame, I decided to use the outside frame so save the inside frame and it’s inset for another card. Run through the Cut and Emboss and separate.
Cut 2 pieces of 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ of three coordinating colors.
Run through the Cut and Emboss to make two pieces for all the colored 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ cardstock. Run Stampin’ Seal down the edges of the backside of the frame. and start to layer the die cuts on the frame.
Finish layering the darkest color on the bottom and then start with the next color.
Turn the frame over and make sure that the pattern is what you want before cutting off the overhang.

Finish the pattern and cut the excess off the frame being careful to not cut the frame.

Die cut the tree trunk out of Crumb cake and cut the trees apart.
Cut the leaves out of Soft Sea Foam.
Using coordinating Stampin’ Blends color and shade the die cuts.
Layer the leaves onto the tree trunk with Liquid Glue, which allows you the flexibility to manipulate the sections before the adhesive dries.
I originally left one of the sections uncolored and changed my mind after placing it on the tree trunk. Remember you can always add color and blend until you like the outcome!
Add the Sentiment and next add some Artisrty Blooms Sequins.
I felt like my leaves needed a little sparkle – bring in the liquid magic – Wink of Stella and voila instant sparkle – just LOVE this stuff!
Love this background technique! Hope that this inspires you to try this technique and go and create art one stamp or in this case one die LOL at a time!

craft room work day – new catalogs are coming…

craft room work day – new catalogs are coming…

So have you ever wondered what a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator does this time of year – besides being WILDLY excited with anticipation for the upcoming new annual catalog release! Well this morning I put in my catalog pre-order (demonstrators are allowed to see the new catalog early and purchase a select number of items so that we can get samples ready for the new catalog’s arrival! Also the retired list is out and available – there are items on sale and going fast and some great deals too! So ever year around this time I go through my collection and make a pile some years the piles are bigger and this is a big year – below is a photo of this year’s pile of all my stamps that are retiring I will get them ready to sell photograph them to put on the retired page of this website! and organize all of my card samples that have retired items featured on the card. They will be pulled and organized to sell or give away as prizes and gifts! the second picture is the first stack of cards with retiring product on them!

While trying to organize I also get to try and that is an operative word – try to clean up my desk!! As a self proclaimed paper hoarder – I find it extremely difficult to throw paper away – so I often collect bits and pieces of paper and ribbon from unfinished cards or leftovers from cards made. SOOOO… every once in a while I have a paper crafting clean up day and try to make as many cards out of the scraps on my desk as I can – it is a great creative exercise and stretches your right brain quite a bit! Here are some of the cards I created today … remember the scrapbooking page from Wednesday’s blog post well here are the inside “scraps” from the flowers I used to make the card from that post – I just couldn’t throw it away (see I’m very bad!!) but the card turned out really cute – don’t you think!?

The card below used the last inside flower pieces and some other scraps from the desktop!

The base of this card was an experiment from making my own shimmer cardstock I ended up using another piece of  cardstock other than this Misty Moonlight base but kept it to use later (see that is why my desk is always in disarray!) I also had a bunch of 1/2 inch strips of Balmy Blue cardstock from cutting down that color cardstock for a prior class… ever wonder what to do with those colored cardstock strips? The next two cards are great examples of fun ways to use these types of strip scraps! I used shapes in coordinating colors as the sentiment focal point and created a striped background over the shimmer cardstock base.

This second card I striped a Gorgeous grape cardstock base diagonally with the Balmy Blue strips and made an alternating directional pattern. I stamped and colored with Stampin’ Blends the smaller flower from Good Morning Magnolia (#149298) and the Magnolia Memory Dies (#1149578) – which is on the retiring list – this is a beautiful set/die combo – I will be sad to see this one go!

The next four images are from the Fine Art Floral Suite I used one 4″x 5 1/4″ piece of the 12 x 12″ DSP with matching acetate for a card a while back so I cut the rest of it up and made three cards and a beautiful and easy Scrapbooking page.

I continued with the Art gallery Stamp set since it was out on my desk and grabbed some Calypso Coral ink and some plain white butterfly dies from the Butterfly Wings die set and stamped the flowers on the butterflies to give them interest and texture. I had some left over Pearlescent Specialty Paper and ran that through the Dainty Diamonds Embossing Folder and mounted them on the card front!

This next card started with a discarded card front with two “block” stamped images in Magenta madness. I stamped the flower image from Art Gallery and added the words thank you multiple times in a background pattern! I really like the way this one turned out! The In Color ribbons are retiring  – so if you want any of these ribbons I would suggest ordering them sooner than later.  The current Hostess code is R37A4MHH.

I had some left over pieces from some cards I did about a month ago from the Friends Are Like Seashells Suite. The next two cards are made with those scrap pieces.

The last five cards used the majority of the last scraps on my desk!! I rearranged and now I am off to clean out the samples in my catalog binders. Looking forward to seeing you all on Sunday evening at 7PM for a fun Facebook Live! The first card uses the soon to be retiring Quite Curvy sentiment (#154430), the second card uses the retired Flower and Fields Sale-a-bration DSP and the Thanks sentiment is from the retiring Many Mates (#152633) which also has a coordinating die set – this is a great sentiment set!

Always a fun exercise to stretch yourself and try to create using the limited supplies from your scrap bin or in my case from your desktop!

I hope these cards inspire some creativity and to go create art one stamp at a time! Below are some of the retiring items used for these cards!

Happy Stampin’,

gilded leafing embedded image – my own technique!!

gilded leafing embedded image – my own technique!!

Not to toot my own horn – but I do have to tell you how proud I am about this – it’s a technique I have not seen on the internet so it is one I made up!! I’m calling it Gilded Leafing Embedded Image Technique. I wanted to show lots of different ways to use the new Gilded Leafing Embellishment that became available in the new January to June 2021 Mini catalog (#154560) featured with the Fine Art Floral Suite, it is a gorgeous, delightfully soft gold leaf product that sticks to anything sticky so there are so many ways to use and adhere this to add unbelievable shine to your projects! In this Card sample, I started with a half sheet 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ of Poppy Parade cardstock (#119793) Scored at 4 1/4″ with my Stampin’ Trimmer (#152392) and creased the fold with a bone folder (#102300). I then adhered three layered Die cuts from the Perennials Petals Dies set (#154321) to the upper center of the card front and covered this embellishment with varying lengths of Tear and Tape Adhesive (#138995).

Remove the paper backing from the Tear and Tape Adhesive after fully covering the die cut or other desired embellishment (I have two other examples below – one using the Butterfly Wings double die and another using the Square Vellum Doilies (#152484))

Apply a layer of Gilded Leafing to the adhesive and rub in with your finger. Using a hard bristle brush, I brushed the excess back in to the jar of Gilded Leafing (#154560) for another use.

I then placed a cello bag or you can save and use the left over paper from our sequin or dots adhesives (the shiny paper that holds those embellishments – the non stick papers) and burnished the leafing with my bone folder – this will allow the image embedded below the gilding to “pop” forward and allow the image to be more pronounced! Isn’t that fun!

I finished the card with a die cut from the Stitched So Sweetly die set (#153828) for the sentiment that came from the Pretty Perennials stamp set (#154435) in Poppy Parade ink (#147050).  I added a few Artistry Blooms (#152477) sequins from the Artistry Blooms Suite (#154150).

This sample of the Gilded Leafing Embedded Image Technique uses the Butterfly Wings Dies (#155523) the detailed die adhered to the same butterfly solid image and then adhered to the card before covering it with Tear and Tape adhesive. (#138995) I used the Butterfly Bijou DSP (#156824) mounted on Bermuda Bay cardstock base (##131197) and the Artistry Blooms Sequins. (#152477) The sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set (#151595) embossed using Versamark (#102283) and white embossing powder (#109132) and set with a heat tool (#129053) on a Black piece of cardstock (#121045) die cut with the smallest square from the Stitched Shapes die set (#152323)

This is my original sample using the Square Vellum Doilies (#152484) using the same technique! Love the way this turned out! This has a more distressed look as I did not use the paper over the Gilded leafing. I like both looks!

I added a sentiment from the Art Gallery stamp set (#154421) stamped with the Tuxedo Black Momento ink (#132708).

For this sample I used the Basic Patterns Decorative Masks (#150697). I secured the mask down with washi tape and placed a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White piece of Cardstock (#159276) underneath the mask. I pressed a freshly inked Versamark ink pad (#102283) through the mask. I then applied and embossed with Heat and Stick powder (#156110) and a heat tool (#129053) until just melted this becomes an adhesive (this will not be as long as normal embossing powders – Do NOT overheat or it will lose it’s stickiness!) Then cover the Heat and Stick “glue” with the Gilded Leafing embellishment (#154560) and rub until all the sticky surfaces are covered. Brush away excess back in to the container. I finished the card with die cuts from the Stitched Rectangle Die set (#151820) in Basic White cardstock (#159276) and Gold Metallic Foil (#132622) and Metallic Pearls (#146282). The sentiment is from the Lovely You stamp set (#152525).

This card sample uses the Polka Dots images from the same Decorative Mask set as the previous card and the same technique. The sentiment uses the same Heat and Stick powder method and is from the Ridiculously Awesome Stamp set (#152512) and is stamped on layered dies from the Stitched So Sweetly set (#151690).
This next card sample uses a different way to apply the Gilded Leafing – After stamping the flower and leaf stamp from the Art Gallery Stamp set (#154421) I embossed the Basic White layer with the Painted Texture 3D Embossing Folder (#154317) and then applied a strip of Stampin’ Seal adhesive to the lower portion of the card. The second two step stamping portion of the flower was done using the heat and stick powder method previously detailed above before embossing with the 3D folder. The sequins are from the Artistry Blooms suite.

,This sample uses the Art Gallery Bundle (#156227) and I applied Multipurpose Liquid Glue (#110755) and allowed it to dry to the tacky stage then applied the Gilded flakes to the sticky parts of the flower, rubbing it in and brushing off the excess.

This sample uses the Versamark and Heat and Stick powder technique but used a Versamark pad that was not freshly inked and only lightly applied to create the speckled, spotty coverage look. I also used the beautiful Fine Art ribbon (#154561). I covered the solid butterfly image fully by firmly pressing the Versamark pad over the entire surface.
This sample uses the Tear and Tape Adhesive to create the striped background! The dragonfly was stamped with Staz-on on Vellum and punched out, the sentiment is from the Peaceful Moments stamp set. The Gold Foil layer and the sentiment layer are die cut from the Stitched Rectangle die set.
Using a card from a previous week’s Facebook Live Alcohol and Stampin’ Blends background technique – I used the Fine Tip Glue pen (#138309) – this glue is not designed to dry tacky or dry slowly so I used this on vellum to allow the glue to stay wetter longer. I drew veining to mimick marble on this sample and adhered the Butterfly die cuts above the vellum!
The Gilded Leafing is such a fun and easy product to use – I hope you get a chance to try it and as always go enjoy and create art one stamp at a time!

dragonfly garden corner fold card

dragonfly garden corner fold card

Fun Fold cards are like spices in cooking to the crafting world – they spice up your cards with very little effort. Usually you start with the same piece of cardstock that you would normally make a card with but add score lines or cuts in different places to add interest to an otherwise normally folded card!  Today I am going to show you how to make a corner fold card with the Dragonfly Garden Bundle (#156224)

( (Measurements:

Misty Moonlight Cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored parallel to the short side at 4 1/4″ (#153081)

Basic White Cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ (for the Stitched Rectangular (#148551) die cut) and a 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ square for card front layer   and extra scraps for punched dragonflies and sentiment (#159276)

Dandy Garden (#154297) DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″, a 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square and a 1/2″ x 4″ piece of coordinating DSP or colored cardstock

Adhere the 4′ x 5 1/4″ DSP piece to the card base

Add a 3″ x 3″ post-it note to the top right hand corner of the card – I placed an ink mark at 5/8″ down from the top left hand corner and another tic mark at 5/8″ from the bottom right hand corner.  (Where the 3×3 is located is the top of the card) Start with the opening edge of the card at the top edge of your paper trimmer and your blade at the 3″ mark on the corner of the post-it note and pressing hard (as you are cutting through 2 pieces of paper) glide the cutting blade upwards until you get to the 5/8″ mark on your post-it note or the ruler guide (they should be around the same spot!) you may want to run the cutting blade back and forth several times to ensure that the cut has gone all the way through the 2 sheets of paper!

Rotate the paper 90 degrees so that the top of the card is now on the bottom with the opening edge at the 3 inch mark and place your cutting blade at 5 1/8″ mark on the ruler (should be equal to the 5/8″ mark on the post-it note) and slide the cutting blade upward to the 3 1/2″ mark on the ruler or until you feel the cutting blade cross the first cut mark! Again you will want to move the cutting blade back and forth a few times to ensure the paper is cut all the way through!

The picture above shows the cutting blade at the end of the cut meeting the first cut mark!

This is what the front of the card will look like after the 2 cuts are made.

Swing the cut piece inside out so to speak so that the Misty Moonlight cardstock from the back of the front card panel shows. Make sure the edges are parallel to the top and side edges of the card and using the bone folder (#102300) crease the diagonal bends of the card so it lies flat.

Adhere the 2 1/2″ square DSP to the Basic White 2 3/4″ square mat and add to the corner panel of the cardfront.  Before adhering the corner panel down slip a piece of Misty Moonlight In Color Ribbon (#153624) through and tie on the inside of the card. Adhere the 1/2″ x 4″ strip of complimentary DSP to the bottom of the card.

Adhere the Basic White Stitched Rectangle Die (#148551) to the inside of the card making sure it is even on all sides.  Add an inside sentiment if desired.

Add dragonfly punches in Basic White cardstock to the card inside and front and add the sentiment.
