Fun Fold cards are like spices in cooking to the crafting world – they spice up your cards with very little effort. Usually you start with the same piece of cardstock that you would normally make a card with but add score lines or cuts in different places to add interest to an otherwise normally folded card! Today I am going to show you how to make a corner fold card with the Dragonfly Garden Bundle (#156224)
( (Measurements:
Misty Moonlight Cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored parallel to the short side at 4 1/4″ (#153081)
Basic White Cardstock 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ (for the Stitched Rectangular (#148551) die cut) and a 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″ square for card front layer and extra scraps for punched dragonflies and sentiment (#159276)
Dandy Garden (#154297) DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″, a 2 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ square and a 1/2″ x 4″ piece of coordinating DSP or colored cardstock
Adhere the 4′ x 5 1/4″ DSP piece to the card base
Add a 3″ x 3″ post-it note to the top right hand corner of the card – I placed an ink mark at 5/8″ down from the top left hand corner and another tic mark at 5/8″ from the bottom right hand corner. (Where the 3×3 is located is the top of the card) Start with the opening edge of the card at the top edge of your paper trimmer and your blade at the 3″ mark on the corner of the post-it note and pressing hard (as you are cutting through 2 pieces of paper) glide the cutting blade upwards until you get to the 5/8″ mark on your post-it note or the ruler guide (they should be around the same spot!) you may want to run the cutting blade back and forth several times to ensure that the cut has gone all the way through the 2 sheets of paper!
Rotate the paper 90 degrees so that the top of the card is now on the bottom with the opening edge at the 3 inch mark and place your cutting blade at 5 1/8″ mark on the ruler (should be equal to the 5/8″ mark on the post-it note) and slide the cutting blade upward to the 3 1/2″ mark on the ruler or until you feel the cutting blade cross the first cut mark! Again you will want to move the cutting blade back and forth a few times to ensure the paper is cut all the way through!
The picture above shows the cutting blade at the end of the cut meeting the first cut mark!
This is what the front of the card will look like after the 2 cuts are made.
Swing the cut piece inside out so to speak so that the Misty Moonlight cardstock from the back of the front card panel shows. Make sure the edges are parallel to the top and side edges of the card and using the bone folder (#102300) crease the diagonal bends of the card so it lies flat.
Adhere the 2 1/2″ square DSP to the Basic White 2 3/4″ square mat and add to the corner panel of the cardfront. Before adhering the corner panel down slip a piece of Misty Moonlight In Color Ribbon (#153624) through and tie on the inside of the card. Adhere the 1/2″ x 4″ strip of complimentary DSP to the bottom of the card.
Adhere the Basic White Stitched Rectangle Die (#148551) to the inside of the card making sure it is even on all sides. Add an inside sentiment if desired.
Add dragonfly punches in Basic White cardstock to the card inside and front and add the sentiment.
