artisan sketched garden card

artisan sketched garden card

Do you like to color? I loved drawing in coloring books as a child – I find it soothing!

I was in one of those moods the other day when I created this card! I LOVE our Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers. They make shading and blending so darn easy!

Measurements:
BASE: Calypso Coral CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″, scrap for sentiment
matte
Basic White CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″, scrap for
sentiment depending on choice of words
Artisan Sketched Garden DSP: one fussy
cut vase

Fussy Cut one of the vases from the DSP. Pick colors for the project and start to play with the Stampin’ Blends.

I usually color in the blooms with the Light Stampin’ Blend first then shade with the Dark and then go back over the whole bloom with the Light marker to blend.

In this photo I left the bottom middle and right bloom only colored with the Light marker, the middle row colored with the Light then shaded with the Dark, the bottom left bloom and the very top bloom are complete with the Light-Dark-Light technique.

Can you see the difference?

I colored in the greenery with The light and Dark Lemon Lime Twist.
I colored in the vase with the Light Pumpkin Pie Stampin’ Blends marker.
Here I shaded the vase drawing over the artisan’s vertical lines and shading the base also with the Dark Pumpkin Pie marker.
Then I blended all with the Light Pumpkin Pie marker going over the entire surface of the vase to rewet the ink and blend the Light and Dark so that the shading lines are softer!
I embossed the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer with the Rustic Check 3D embossing folder.
I took the same colors I used in coloring the DSP to color the background in a diagonal pattern first coloring the diagonal opposite edges with Calypso Coral ink and a blending brush.
Then I added diagonal strips inside the Calypso Coral edging with Pumpkin Pie ink and a blending brush
I finished with a diagonal middle strip of Cherry Cobbler ink and a blending brush and adhered it to the Calypso Coral card base.
I placed the brush tip of the Calypso Coral Dark marker inside the cap and flicked the brush tip across the edge of the cap creating ink to spray/splatter onto the card base.

I popped up the colored DSP vase onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and added it to the top center of the card base.

Using a scrap of Basic White CS I stamped the “so grateful for you” sentiment from the Lily of the Valley stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink and colored the scrap with the three Blending Brushes. I spalettered this layer also and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the sentiment piece and added it to an appropriately sized matte in Calypso Coral CS. the matte and sentiment piece will vary sizewise depending upon the sentiment you choose.
Adhere the sentiment piece to the bottom center of the card front.
I added some gold embellishments to the card for a little extra sparkle and this colorful card is complete to send off and make someone’s day!

Now it’s your turn to make and send a card! That is the whole point to making cards – brightening someone else’s day as well as your own! Now it’s time to create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

graceful evergreen deer hot foil card

graceful evergreen deer hot foil card

The Graceful Evergreen Deer Hot Foil Bundle caught my eye during the pre-release and I just knew it would make beautiful and elegant Christmas cards! I combined it with Silver and Red foil and the Magical Christmas Hot Foil dies and created this easy Christmas card!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, scraps for hot foiling

Let me take you through the Hot Foil System Instructions first.

Plug in the machine and press the White Button – the platform takes a while to heat up – so be patient and wait for the first beep!

When the platform beeps press the white button and play the hot foil dies on the platform.
The platform will beep a last time and the lights will all be lit – when the green light is on you are ready!

Place the foil cut off the rolls sized enough to cover the dies shiny side down over the dies.

Then add the paper over the foil.

Then cover with the Hot Foil Shim and the Hot Foil Spacer in that order.

Unplug the system and roll through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine VERY SLOWLY. You want ample time for the foil to contact with the paper and transfer!
Remove from the machine I roll through forwards and backwards and then remove the foil from the paper and die cut your beautiful deer out using the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine with the BASE plate #1, the Small die adaptor p[late #2 and sandwich the paper and the cutting dies inbetween 2 Cutting Plates #3s.

I also placed the Shining Stars smallest star dies on the paper after cutting the deer for absolutely NO FOIL went to waste!

I also plugged the Hot Foil System back in and redid the steps with the reverse Hot Foil Plate. Because this is such a large plate to heat up I deviate from the original instructions here and place the Reverse Hot Foil Plate on the platform immediately after plugging it in to give it extra time to heat up all that metal!
When the platform beeps press the white button and the yellow button will start blinking allow this extra time to heat up the die.

Press the white button after the second beep and the lights will all be on red-yellow and green and start to build your sandwich, Foil shiny side down, cardstock, shim and spacer!

Now I had plenty of Hot Foil Dies to build my Christmas cards both the regular and reverse images! Regular images photographed on the left and reverse images are on the right side!
Now to build an easy Christmas card background for my hot foil dies to shine!

I used the stamps from this bundle and made two masks by stamping directly on my grid paper and cutting them out close to the stamped images.

I stamped two smaller trees in Granny Apple Green ink on the card front.
Covered one of the trees with a mask.
I stamped the larger trees in Shaded Spruce ink both full strength and stamping off to create some color variation and depth.
I added my word Hot Foil Dies from the Magical Christmas Hot Foil Dies.
Added red foil stars from the Magical Christmas Hot Foil dies and Shining Stars dies.
Added the gorgeous deer die.
And finished the card off with the awesome Christmas embellishments Real Red and White Adhesive-backed Peppermints!

Such a fun Christmas card and the Hot Foil dies make it so elegant!

Today’s More Color Monday card is one that we are making in today’s Studio Stamp-a-Stack class it is bold and easy to make!

Occasionally I will revisit an old card sketch challenge to show you another way to interpret the sketch – this time instead of using the circle image literally I used diamonds for the center focal point and changed the colors for a different feel!

I die cut the Pretty Peacock square with the larger Tile Garden square die.
I embossed the Basic White CS layer with the Rustic Check 3D embossing Folder
Adhere the embossed layer to the Pecan Pie card base.
Adhere the Gold Foil square at an angle onto the Pretty Peacock square.

shining stars card sketch challenge

shining stars card sketch challenge

Today’s card uses the Shining Stars product of the month incentive set.

Are you familiar with our Product of the Month incentive? Spend $75 in product and you can get any Product of the Month (POM) that is still available for $5! You can only purchase the Products of the Month one time – (for instance spend $75 this month and you really want the Shining Stars October 2026 POM for $5 – spend another $75 and if the September POM is still available you can get that one for $5 but cannot purchase another October Shining Stars die set because you already got one of those)

This card used the left over watercolor paper from this week’s More Color Monday card using three of the colors from the Stampin’ Up! October Creative Challenge which is a color challenge!

If you missed that post I took a large water painter and brushed the surface of a Fluid 100 watercolor paper with an excess of water. Then I dropped color from three acrylic blocks that I squeezed ink refill bottle drops of ink onto. I allowed the Fluid 100 paper to dry and then die cut the Shining Stars die set from the watercolored paper!

This is also a card sketch challenge #136!

Measurements:
BASE: Hydrangea Hue CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″
Fluid 100 paper: one sheet
Basic White CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Emboss the Basic White layer with the Swirls of Magic embossing folder.
Adhere the embossed layer to the Hydrangea Hue card base.
Cut a scrap of Hydrangea hue to 1 1/2″ x 3 1/2″ and stamp (SNEAK PEAK) with an upcoming GREAT sentiment set called Friend Like You in Hybrid Black ink.

Using the Dark Hydrangea Hue Stampin’ Blends alcohol marker I flicked the brush tip side off the inside of the cap to make a splatter effect over the layer!

Pop up the sentiment layer on Stampin’ Dimensionals and place on the bottom center of the embossed layer.

Take the watercolor paper and die cut lots of stars from the POM Shining Stars die set.

Adhere a medium and small star onto the sentiment piece.

Adhere more die cut stars to the embossed layer above the sentiment piece!
I LOVE coordinating your embellishments and the In Color Dots are awesome for color coordination!

I added five dots to the card to finish it off in total color coordination! These stars are so much fun! Try your hand at this card sketch challenge and see what little things you can add to your card! Now it’s your turn to create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!
