In the Inspiring Canopy dies set, there is a thin edgelit die and you look at it and most probably say what do I do with this! Taking cardstock and using this edgelit makes a sweet little edge that is perfect for enhancing your card making. In this card that I cased from one of our Artisan design teams members – Creative Chelsea – thanks for the inspiration.
Measurements:
Pool Party 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Cardstock strips 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ two pieces of
three different colors ( I used Pool Party,
Coastal Cabana and Bermuda Bay)
scraps of Soft Sea Foam
scrap of Crumb cake
scrap of Basic White
Scrap of Pool Party
Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″
Take two Stitched Rectangle Dies to make a frame, I decided to use the outside frame so save the inside frame and it’s inset for another card. Run through the Cut and Emboss and separate.
Cut 2 pieces of 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ of three coordinating colors.
Run through the Cut and Emboss to make two pieces for all the colored 5 1/2″ x 1 1/2″ cardstock. Run Stampin’ Seal down the edges of the backside of the frame. and start to layer the die cuts on the frame.
Finish layering the darkest color on the bottom and then start with the next color.
Turn the frame over and make sure that the pattern is what you want before cutting off the overhang.
Finish the pattern and cut the excess off the frame being careful to not cut the frame.
Die cut the tree trunk out of Crumb cake and cut the trees apart.
Cut the leaves out of Soft Sea Foam.
Cut the leaves out of Soft Sea Foam.
Using coordinating Stampin’ Blends color and shade the die cuts.
Layer the leaves onto the tree trunk with Liquid Glue, which allows you the flexibility to manipulate the sections before the adhesive dries.
I originally left one of the sections uncolored and changed my mind after placing it on the tree trunk. Remember you can always add color and blend until you like the outcome!
Add the Sentiment and next add some Artisrty Blooms Sequins.
I felt like my leaves needed a little sparkle – bring in the liquid magic – Wink of Stella and voila instant sparkle – just LOVE this stuff!
Love this background technique! Hope that this inspires you to try this technique and go and create art one stamp or in this case one die LOL at a time!
Happy Stampin’
