quick and simple triple panel card using the snowflake specialty paper

This is my favorite paper in the entire new July to December 2022 mini catalog – the Snowflake 12″ x12″ Specialty Vellum contains 6 sheets 2 of each design including iridescent foiling and white flocking – just stunning!

Measurements:
Base: Basic White cardstock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Silver Foil 4″ x 5 1/4″
Snowflake Vellum three pieces cut
consecutively at 3 1/4″ x 1 3/8″

Using the spaces on the vellum that are covered with iridescent foil – hide the mini Stampin’ Dimensional on the three pieces of vellum.
Adhere the vellum to the Silver foil.
Adhere the Silver Foil piece to the Basic White card base
Using a scrap piece of Basic White CS stamp in Versamark the word Joy from the Brightest Glow stamp set. Pour Silver Embossing powder over the Versamark ink and tap off the excess back into the container of powder.
Using the heat tool, heat set the Silver Embossing powder with the heat tool until it turns shiny.
Die cut with the smaller circle die from the Labels Aglow die set and adhere to the card.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this paper!!!!

Hope you enjoyed this card and give our Specialty vellum a try!

making rain – more fun with vellum

making rain – more fun with vellum

I have always been a glass half full girl! I say this is full acknowledgement that this is not the case for many people – I have learned many things through out the years from very smart people and loads of them including myself believe that what you focus on in life colors your world. There are many – some very close to me that sometimes only see the glass half empty – which has been so easy to do for the last few years. I hope that my art and my blog posts in some small way shine light onto the glass half empty as well as the glass half full camps! This card is in honor of those hard times that make us stronger, the sad times that make the sweet times together sweeter, and the hope that exists in all of us.
I love rain it is cleansing and sweet and refreshes the earth, giving life giving water to all. Rain sometimes is looked upon as a bad thing but the gentle rain that accompanies most storms is a good thing (yes water can be devastating but a little rain is mostly a good thing!)
Today’s card starts with vellum and Night of navy Stampin’ Blend ink scribbled on it’s surface.
Spray the vellum colored surface with a fine mist of 99% alcohol and dry with a heat tool so that the spray makes downwards lines mimic-ing rain.
After drying the vellum take a paint brush and dip it into alcohol and allow drops of alcohol to puddle in spots on the colored side of the vellum. This will create lighter spots in the colored surface – looking like rain drops on the blue surface.
allow the drops to dry naturally instead of moving the spots with the heat tool and disrupting there shape. Decorate with the new cloud punch and the sentiment from After the storm and you have a lovely “rain storm” card full of hope!

Take care today and let your heart and spirit create art in your soul for as Picasso said, “Art washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life.”
Create hope and joy and beauty with your art and share it with someone that is in need. May you be blessed today and always!

coloring on vellum

coloring on vellum

Vellum is a beautiful translucent cardstock and different techniques are plentiful on the internet. One of my favorite things to do is one of the simplest techniques. Adding color to this cardstock can be done directly to the front side for vibrant lovely tones but as in this example shown below – Stamp an image on the front side of the vellum and color on the opposite side of the vellum for a more subtle color palette!
Using the large flower cluster from the Blessings of Home stamp set (#157930) in the new January to June 2022 mini catalog, I stamped the image in Tuxedo black Memento ink and allowed a few minutes to dry. Stamping on vellum the ink remains wet for a little longer than regular cardstock. I let this dry naturally to room air, if in a hgurry you can gently and with cautious distance from the cardstock use the heat tool being careful to not curl or scorch the delicate cardstock.
Turning the cardstock over – color the opposite side of the vellum with chosen Stampin’ Blends. I colored in the flowers using the light color first and then highlighting the artist drawn accent lines in the darker blend color.

If you mount the vellum on Basic white cardstock the colors will intensify.

To add a little bit of visual interest I placed the Basic White cardstock at an angle and only placed adhesive under the colored flowers and embellishments to prevent the adhesive showing through!

Easy as that! Color on some vellum whenever you get a chance and I hope I inspired you to go out and create art of your own – one stamp at a time!

vellum layering designs

vellum layering designs

This is a quick product review.
I will be back and post another blog post on Saturday until then enjoy your week and enjoy this very cool new product in the January to June 2022 Mini Catalog – Vellum Layering Designs. I love the delicate nature of vellum and all the fun things you can do with it. this new vellum has printed designs on one side – 6 designs 2 sheets each design some printed in black and some printed in white.
I used the cut from left over from Monday’s blog post and mounted the printed vellum to the frame to get around the issue of vellum’s translucent nature and adhesive issues! I mounted that onto a Basic Black mat and added to a Basic White standard card base.

I stamped the sentiment from the Create with Friends stamp set in Coastal Cabana ink on the same colored cardstock. I popped the sentiment up and added it to the top of the vellum focal point and stamped the Flowing Flowers large flower in Coastal Cabana ink and fussy cut the flower and popped it up as well. I added Black Glittered Organdy ribbon to finish off this card!
Enjoy! Try this vellum and go create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

cardstock meets alcohol and Stampin Blends

cardstock meets alcohol and Stampin Blends

What do you get when you cross a window sheet, different types of cardstock, Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Ink Markers and a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with 99% Alcohol? Well gorgeous backgrounds of course!

I started with multiple sheets of Glossy, Basic White, Shimmery White and Vellum cardstock cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″ ( and just a tip cut a bunch – because every one looks different and once you start making these you WILL find it difficult to stop!!

A window sheet is a clear plastic sheet we sell ours as 2 sheets of 12″ x 12″ for $5.00. And you can use it for this purpose over and over again!
I used Night of Navy Dark and Light and Dark Bermuda Bay Stampin’ Blends.
Scribble ink onto the Window Sheet.
Place your choice of cardstock face down onto the ink and alcohol surface of the window sheet surface.
Allow to dry if you like the pattern of ink on the glossy surface – if there are white spots showing through or an area you do not like dip into the alcohol and ink again until desired look is achieved!
I stamped on the glossy cardstock with Staz-on ink and let dry. I used the Seaside Notions for this example. You can use Momento Black ink for the other cardstock choices, although be careful stamping on vellum as it takes a little longer to dry and not smear!
I finished the card off with a ribbon and Blue Adhesive Backed Gems. and mounted it onto a balmy Blue cardstock base.
Yesterday on my Sunday evening Facebook Live I demonstrated the technique above with a different color scheme and showed off all of the cards I had made from the previous batch as well!
Here is a photo gallery of the completed cards using this background technique!
The coolest part about this technique is that no two backgrounds are the same and that each one is unique and creates an incredible background for gorgeous cards! I will warn you it is a little addicting! Good Luck and have fun trying this technique!

Now go create some art one stamp at a time!
