dream big rainbow eclipse card

dream big rainbow eclipse card

So I had one more beautiful strip left from the Wet Stamping Rainbow butterflies technique and I just had to use it for a last fun technique! Have you ever made an eclipse card? The Playful Alphabet dies are retiring and this is such a fun technique to do with a die alphabet set!
Position the word you would like to cut out onto the image.
Using washi tape or blue painters tape secure down the alphabet dies in place. Run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss or the Mini and remove the tape.
I wanted to create a dream BIG message on the card so I used washi tape to cover the words from the Whale Done stamp set that I did not want to use and after inking it in the Memento Ink removed the tape and stamped the partially inked stamp onto the card front!
Using the Foam adhesive strips pop up the alphabet letters.
Adhere the strip with the letters cut out to the base card and the place the letters back into their negative spaces but popped up so that they stand out from the background, causing an eclipse of the word.
I added White Glittered Organdy ribbon and Iridescent Rhinestones to complete the card.’

The Playful Alphabet unfortunately is retiring so if you need a great alphabet die set you will want to use the current hostess code, CGYBQDYV before they are sold out!

Try this cool Eclipse technique and create a word card of your very own – one letter die at a time!

black and white with a pop of color

black and white with a pop of color

I loved how the last blog post’s card turned out and I had extra strips from the Wet Stamping Technique so I decided to show how black and white and a pop of color can be dramatic!

I LOVE a pop of color on a card and how better to show it than with a rainbow colored scrap!

I used a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer and stamped in Memento Black ink the butterfly image from the retiring stamp set Positive Thoughts.

For my first card sample I used a piece of the strip that was cut off from the original card – the butterfly was in PAcific point so I mounted the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Black and White layer to a Pacific Point card base. Then I matted the Pacific Point butterfly image onto Basic Black cardstock and popped it up on the black and white butterfly layer. I watercolored a strip of left over Fluid 100 paper with Pacific Point and stamped a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set and popped that up as well!
On the second sample, I popped up the entire black and white layer onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered a wet stamp technique strip to the top of that layer. I matted a black and white sentiment onto a Real Red cardstock background and tucked it behind the colorful butterflies strip. I added Real Red sheer ribbon and just LOVE the pops of color.
Sometimes a card can be so easy yet so visually striking. That is what I love about the Pops of Color cards!

Try it today and create your own black and white card with a pop of color – create it one stamp at a time!

wet stamping technique

wet stamping technique

Do you like the look of water coloring but struggle with doing it? Here is a great and easy technique called Wet Stamping Technique!

Start with a sheet of Fluid 100 watercolor paper. Secure it with washi tape to a clip board or I use one of the Stamparatus’ acrylic plates (they are waterproof and rigid and easy to clean up – just perfect for this application!)

Using the large water painter apply a liberal amount of clear water to directly to the Fluid 100 Watercolor paper.

pick out the ink colors you want to use – I chose a rainbow palette – Real Red, Mango Melody, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana, Pacific Point, and Gorgeous Grape.

Stamp off a few times – stamp into the water soaked watercolor paper and wash off the stamp and repeat with the next color – working quickly to ensure that the paper does not dry out.

Allow to dry – I used a heat tool to speed up the process.

Once dry stamp the butterfly image full strength in the same colors directly on top of the diffused image created by the water.

I matted the watercolor paper onto a matching color (used Pacific Point here) and then mounted it onto a base cardstock and added ribbon and iridescent rhinestones to finish the card!

Hope this inspires you to try some wet stamping and go and create some art of your very own. One stamp at a time!
