Every year Stampin’ Up! selects talented demonstrators to be on their Artisan Design team…one of our lovely and talented ladies recently posted a watercolor card that I just loved! This card is a CASE of that card designed by Charlet M. (thanks for the inspiration!)

I used the Fluid 100 watercolor paper and taped it flat on one of the Stamparatus plates to keep the paper from curling.

Mearuements:

BASE:
Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
one sheet of Fluid 100 paper
Gorgeous Grape cut to 1/8″ larger than a 1/2 sheet of Fluid 100 paper (about 4 7/8″ x 3 1/2″)
extra for sentiment matte
Basic White strip for sentiment

Tape the Fluid 100 with left over Washi tape to the surface of one of the Stamparatus plates.
Pick three complimentary reinker colors and place one drop of each color onto the other Stamparatus plate.

Using the largest water painter add water to the surface of the Fluid 100 watercolor paper.

Mix the reinker ink droplets with water to dilute color and start with one color and paint a band of color across the bottom of the watercolor paper.

Continue with all three colors slightly overlapping the bands of color.

On the right side of the Fluid 100 watercolor paper dab the excess water and some of the ink off the paper to give it a varigated look. I used tissue paper but it works better if it is more absorbent like paper towels.
Remove tape and allow to dry before stamping on the paper.

Cut in half and trim the white border edge.

I stamped the large flower image from the Blessings of Home stamp set and mounted the watercolor paper onto a Gorgeous Grape cardstock matte. I added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of this matte and added it to a Basic White cardstock base that I 3D embossed with the Painted Textures 3D Embossing Folder.
I added a strip of Basic White stamped with a birthday sentiment from this set and mounted it onto a Gorgeous Grape cardstock matte as well.
Lastly I added Iridescent Rhines Basic Jewels to the card to add the bling and multi-colored dimension with the iridescence!

I just love to watercolor it is so easy and forgiving and turns out different and lovely each and every time! Hoping this inspires you to do a little watercoloring and stamping and creating! One stamp at a time!

Happy Stampin’

Natalie

Here is the bonus card I made with the other half of the Fluid 100 watercolor paper that I watercolored for the original project!
