more color mondays – pretty peacock, lost lagoon and pool party

I have been on a little monochromatic tear recently but I love these three color blues together and thought they would be pretty cool used with the new Butterfly Flight masks!

I am loving our new Stampin’ Hot Foil System – it is so amazing and I love the elevated effect it gives your cards and projects!

Measurements:
BASE: Pool Party CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
DSP: 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″, 3″ x 4″
Basic White CS: piece large enough to cover
the Butterfly Flight hot foil die
Pretty Peacock CS: piece large enough to cover
the Sweetly Sentimental hot foil die

I used three of the Butterfly Flight hot foil butterfly dies from my first card introducing the new Stampin’ Hot Foil System in last Friday’s blog post.

I placed the die cuts back into the negative die spaces to hold them in place for the mask coloring.

Check out Friday’s post if you want to see the Stampin’ Hot Foil System in action and the details of how to make the Butterfl;y Flight Hot Foil Dies.

I placed mask #1 over the paper with the three butterfly dies in it and drew a pen line around the notch in the plastic mask (I also placed a line down the left hand side of the edge so that each subsequent mask will line up in the same place.)
Using a blending brush and the Pool Party ink brush through the mask openings until all the open spots are inked.

Remove Mask #1 and replace with Mask #2

Using Mask #2 and the Pretty Peacock ink – blend through the holes over the three butterfly dies until desired color is reached.
Lastly remove Mask #2 and place Mask #3 over the three hot foil butterfly dies. Brush through the openings until you are satisfied with the coloring.
Remove the mask.
The end result is stunning and so easy to professionally color these!
Using the same set up and directions as in Friday’s blog post set up the Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil dies and create a lot of great sentiments for this and future projects!
I love the options with the Beautiful Ordinary Life DSP gorgeous, colorful watercolor washes on one side and black and white on the other.

Adhere the 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ DSP layer to the card base – I choose the black and white side for the larger layer and the colorful side for the smaller layer. (you could reverse them for a totally different look!)

adhere the 3″ x 4″ DSP colored. side up a llittle askew over the black and white DSP layer.

Pop up the butterflies with Stampin’ Dimensionals and choose your sentiment and pop that up with Foam Adhesive Strips in the center of the card.

Adhere Sunset Sparkle Sequins to the card and you have completed an easy DSP card for a special birthday!

I saw a similar card the other day and loved it so this is my version I colored the dies a little differently than the sample I saw – I wanted to imitate the reflections of the sun on the water on the dies.

This Scenic Coast DSP is so gorgeous anything you do with it elevates the project to next level!

Measurements:
BASE: Strawberry Slush CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
DSP: 6″ x 6″
Basic white CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ for die cuts,
4″ x 5 1/4″
Crumb Cake CS: 2 1/2″ x 4′

Die cut the Rolling Waves water dies from the 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ Basic White layer – two of the largest wave pieces, one of the starfish and shells and 1 each of the smaller foam wave pieces.
Cut the 6″ x 6″ DSP piece at 4″ and then again at 5 1/4″.
Place the larger die diagonally on the DSP 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer with the foamy tendrils facing upwards and the top left hand edge at the horizon. Angle it downwards to where you can see a lot of the sunset reflections on the water and mark under the die on the DSP two points on either edge. (This will be your cut marks so make sure that the DSP will be long enough to be covered by the die.)
Cut the DSP on the diagonal from the high mark on the left hand edge to the lower mark on the right hand edge.
Adhere the diagonal cut DSP to the Strawberry Slush base card.
Cut a piece of Crumb Cake to fit in the lower portion of the card under the DSP diagonal cut.

Stamp the piece with the sand background stamp and the speckles stamp.

Adhere to the bottom of the card front.

Place the die pieces over the DSP and visually mark where the sunset colors would be reflected on the water and color the dies with Secret Sea on the outside edges and Strawberry Slush and Timid Tiger under the sunset reflections to continue that reflection into the water dies.
Adhere the dies on the diagonal over the sand and DSP.
Blend Strawberry Slush and Timid Tiger with blending brushes over the shells and starfish dies and adhere in the foam and seaspray of the wave dies.
I first adhered the orangy Sunset Sparkle Sequins to the card front and I decided I wanted a more subtle sparkle so I replaced them with the white irridescent sparkle sequins.

I stamped the bottom of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer with Crumb Cake sand image and adhered a shell over the sand.

I adhered the 4″ x 3/4″ leftover DSP to the top and stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Rolling Waves stamp set in Strawberry Slush ink to the middle of the layer.

Adhere to the inside of the card base.

I added the White irridescent Sunset Sparkle Sequins to the outside of the card first three and then added two more!

I am very pleased with the final project!

Today’s blog post is a simple fun camera card with pops of Poppy Parade red!

I got the Capturing Smiles bundle a while ago to use for both card making and scrapbooking and hadn’t used it yet so I tried out a card for you all today!

Today is also a sketch challenge #128!
Try your hand at this fun card sketch!

Measurements:
BASE: Poppy Parade CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Basic White CS: (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″, scraps for dies

Stamp multiple small camera images in Poppy Parade ink.
Stamp the large camera base image in basic Gray.
Stamp the open lens circle in Basic Gray and the inner lense image in poppy Parade.

Die cut all of the stamped images and one tag out of the scrap Basic White CS. Stamp the sentiment love this Smile in Poppy Parade ink inside the tag die cut.

Color the camera base image with Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends markers.
Adhere the open Basic Gray die cut to the center of the camera base.
Emboss one of the Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ layers with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder.

Adhere to the Poppy Parade cardstock base.

Adhere the Poppy Parade center shutter image on Stampin’ Dimensionals in the center of the Basic Gray open lense circle.
Adhere the camera base to the embossed layer on the card.
Adhere three smaller Poppy Parade camera images to the left hand side of the embossed layer.

Pop up the sentiment tag with ribbon or Real Red and White Twine through the tag hole over the larger camera image.

Adhere the last two smaller Poppy Parade camera images to the other 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer and adhere to the inside of the card base.
Add three Sunset Sparkle sequins to the card to finish it off.

I love this little sketch so many possibilities for those little boxes to the right – stamped images or pieces of DSP…

Well Stampin’ Up!’s done it again just when I think they cannot design more gorgeous papers – they come up with something like this!

It is one of those items that is so much better in person but I made a video which I will share of one of the 6″ x 6″ sheets to show you the shimmer on these pages!

The Scenic Coast Suite is right up my alley – it’s sunsets and water and boats – it cannot get any better for a lake girl like me!

This Easel card fun fold is so easy and makes a stand up display card for this stunning paper!

Measurements:
BASE: Gorgeous Grape CS: 4 1/2″ x 11″
scored at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″
Crushed Curry CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Blueberry Bushel CS: 1 1/4″ x 4″
DSP: 6″ x 6″ cut for desired part of design to
3 3/4″ x 5″, 1″ x 3 3/4″
Basic White CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″ for inside and scraps
for sentiment die cuts

Cut the DSP to 3 3/4″ x 5″ and mount on the Crushed Curry 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer.
Die cut the large banner from the Stylish Shapes die set from a Basic White scrap and stamp “wherever this note finds you…” in Gorgeous Grape ink and blend the edges with a blending brush and Gorgeous Grape ink for some added color!
Pop up the sentiment with Stampin’ Dimensionals and place in the lower right-hand corner of the layers.
This Suite will be available May 5th to customers and it contains the prettiest sunset colored sequins.

I added three around the sentiment piece to finish off the front of the card.

I took one of the side pieces cut from the 6″ x 6″ DSP and adhered it onto the Blueberry Bushel layer.

I cut a die from the Upcoming Online Exclusive Silly Old Bear Suite of products for the inside sentiment and blended the edges with a blending brush and Gorgeous Grape ink!

I popped up the inside sentiment piece in the center of the DSP/Blueberry Bushel layer.

Score the 4 1/4″ x 11″ at 1 1/2″ and 5 1/2″.

Adhere the Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer to the inside of the card base.

Then Adhere the Blueberry Bushel layer to the bottom of the Basic White layer.
Bend the 1 1/2″ score line to a mountain fold and then flatten the card base and add Stampin’ Seal + to the scored panel leaving about 1/8″ border.
Adhere the bottom third of the front Crushed Curry DSP layer to the bottom panel leaving an even border on the sides and bottom of the card.

The border around the whole outside of the card should be even (even thought the layer is only attached at the bottom you want to make sure that the layer is straight and even the entire way around.

Because the inside sentiment is popped up it provides a stopper for the easel portion of the card – I actually popped up the inside of the Blueberry Bushel layer so that the easel would rest above that layer so you could see the whole layer! You could use either the sentiment or the layer as a stopper.
Bend the score line inward and place it behind the elevated layer to create the stand up easel!

Viola! It stands independently for display and looks stunning! This is a great card for this paper – hope you try this fun fold with this stunning paper or stuff in your stash! No go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

I love creating sunset colored cards and the Boardwalk Fun and Beach Time stamp sets are so much fun for Summer cards and I am sad that they are retiring!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, 4″ x 5 1/4″ 3″ x 4 1/2″
Basic Black CS: scraps for palm tree dies

Die cut an Everyday Arches die from the 3″ layer.

Use blending brushes and color the bottom of the die with Daffodil Delight ink.

Blend Pumpkin Pie ink with a Blending Brush across the top of the Daffodil Delight ink and a little above that.
Color the top of the Everyday Arches die with Cherry Cobbler ink and another Blending Brush.
Brush the edges of the Everyday Arches die with the Gorgeous Grape ink and another Blending Brush. Heavier on the top and lighter on the bottom edges.
Stamp Summer Vibes sentiment from the Beach Time stamp set (which is on the LAST CHANCE LIST) onto the upper left hand edge of the Everyday Arches die.

Adhere two palm tree dies from Basic Black CS below and to the right of the sentiment.

Emboss the 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer with the LAST CHANCE LIST Soft Waves embossing folder.

Adhere the embossed layer onto the BASE.

Pop up the Everyday Arches die over the embossed layer.

SNEAK PEAK – add the Sunset Sparkle Sequins to the project for an iridescent shine and sparkle to finish off this card rich with sunset colors!
