double panel designer series paper fun fold

This double panel Designer Series Paper fun fold is a really fun and easy WOW card with a simple belly band and a few score lines you can make this card with the paper you have lying around. Read on to learn just how easy it is!

Measurements:
BASE: Pool Party CS: 5 1/2″ x 11
scored at 1 1/4″, 5 1/2″, and 9 1/4″
1 1/2″ x 11″ for the belly band
DSP: (2) 1″ x 5 1/4″
1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Fold the card base at the 5 1/2″ score line with the edges to the left.
Fold the other two score lines back towards the right (towards the 5 1/2″ score line.

Cut the Designer Series paper to 5 1/4″ and then into three strips (2) 1″ x 5 1/4″ and
(1) 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″.
Cut the Basic White layer to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to the second panel of the base card.
Adhere the 1″ strips of DSP to the inside and outside of the first panel.
Adhere the 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP to the inside of the last and fourth panel.
In Tuxedo Black memento ink I stamped the inside sentiment on the Basic White inside layer of the card.
Die cut a large circle from the Spotlight on Nature die set and stamp in Tuxedo black Memento ink the Happy Birthday from the Unbounded Love stamp set.
Die cut leaves from the Changing Leaves die set and adhere to the circle die.
Take the 1 1/2″ x 11″ piece of Pool Party and gently wrap around the closed card, Adhere the ends together and add the circle die to the belly band front.
I had some extra pieces of scrap Full of Life DSP so i added them to the inside of the card.
I decided I wanted the full leaves on the bottom of the circle for more of a balanced look and I added Classic Matte Dots to finish off this lovely fun fold card!
What do you think – do you like the leaf silhouette image up or down? I really like the way this turned out! What about you?

Now it’s your turn – go and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

more color mondays – gray granite, petal pink and balmy blue

more color mondays – gray granite, petal pink and balmy blue

I’m glad to be back in my stamp studio and creating cards for you! Today’s More Color Monday combines soft subtle colors with one of my favorite neutrals Gray Granite. Petal Pink and Balmy Blue both from our Subtles collection are the other two colors today and I chose the Changing Leaves Hybrid bundle.

Measurements:
BASE: Gray Granite: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White: 3 1/2″ x 4″ & scrap for sentiment
Subtles DSP: 1″ x 4″
Balmy Blue scraps for die leaves
Petal Pink Scraps for die leaves

Emboss the Basic White 3 1/2″ x 4″ layer in the Changing leaves embossing folder. I love this folder it can die cut and emboss at the same time if you choose to but this time I wanted the image uncut and whole.
Using a blending brush I added Petal Pink ink in a circular motion to the edges of the embossed layer. Petal Pink has a brownish pink hue and reminds me of old paper when applied like this.
I die cut Balmy Blue and Petal Pink leaf dies from the Changing Leaves die set.
I stamped the sentiment with Balmy Blue ink onto the small Stylish Shapes banner (I always cut some out of my Basic White scraps and have them on the edge of my creating station on my desk)
I pressed extra ink onto the lid of my Balmy Blue stamp pad to create an ink palette and using a water painter I added water to the lid and the extra ink and dipped the water painter into the inky water. Using the handle of my blending brush I smacked the waterpainter onto the handle while over the embossed layer flicking ink splatters over the entire surface of that layer this is a fun way to add a bit of colored depth and dimension to the layer.
I adhered the Balmy Blue DSP striped pattern to the edge of the embossed layer and adhered both to the right side of the card front.

I popped up the sentiment piece onto mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and added the die cut leaves around the sentiment and placed it on the center left hand side of the card front.

I added Adhesive-Backed Pastel Sequins to the card front to finish it off with some matching sparkle. Simple and sweet I love the way this card turned out. Remember little additions like coloring the edges with a blending brush and ink splatter can take your card to the next level.

Try to level up your creation today – one stamp at a time!

another designer series paper tri-fold card

another designer series paper tri-fold card

Today’s blog post is another tri-fold using some of our beautiful Designer Series Paper! I had so much fun designing Wednesday’s tri-fold that I decided to go ahead and do another one!
Today we are using the Full of Life 6″ x 6″ DSP for this vertical tri-fold card.

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 4 1/4″ X 11″
scored at 4″ and 6 3/4″
(5) 4″ x 5 1/4″ for watercolor background die
cuts
scraps for the sentiments
DSP top layer: 3 3/4″ x 4″
DSP middle layer 2 1/2″ x 4″ mine is 2 1/4″ because this was a 6″ paper stack and I wanted to save paper.
DSP: bottom layer 4″ x 4″

Using an acrylic block ink up one color per watercolor wash. I used Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist, Crushed Curry, Poppy Parade and Gorgeous Grape. Add ink directly to the acrylic block and spritz with water in a Stampin’ Spritzer. Add the paper on top of the block and hold in place for a few seconds to allow the paper to absorb the water and the ink. Die cut one of the leave stems from each watercolor died paper.

Score the 4 1/4″ x 11″ Basic White cardstock at 4″ and 6 3/4″.
Cut the desired DSP – I wanted a color gradient so i chose the B sides of the Full of Life DSP.
I adhered the top layer of 3 3/4″ x 4″ to the top panel.
I adhered the middle DSP layer of 2 1/2″ x 4″ to the middle panel.
I adhered the Bottom DSP layer of 4″ square to the bottom panel.
Just think of the possibilities if you used a scenic 12″ x 12″ DSP you could create a continuous scene across the card and do this in either landscape of vertical!
I adhered the leaf dies to each panel close to the corresponding color gradient on the DSP.
I die cut the word friend from Basic White scraps and added it to the top of the bottom panel so that the word does not peek out when the card is closed and is a surprise!
I die cut 2 of the rectangular strip dies for the top 2 panels and stamped sentiments in Azure Afternoon ink for the top panel and Crushed Curry for the middle panel.
I added Iridescent Adhesive-backed Discs to the card in a gradient of colors and this is what the card looks like closed and open!

more color mondays – pool party, calypso coral and basic beige – faux suede technique

more color mondays – pool party, calypso coral and basic beige – faux suede technique

Today’s More Color Monday features our new Basic color – Basic Beige! I am finding this a wonderful neutral base that goes well with every color I have paired it with! Today’s pairing is Pool Party and Calypso Coral these are complimentary colors paired with a neutral.
On page 132- 133 of the new annual catalog – we talk about color theory and four types of color pairings! Monochromatic uses colors that are shades or tints of the same or similar colors – like Petal Pink and Calypso Coral. Complimentary colors are the opposite – literally! You know what they say – opposites attract! Try pairing colors that are opposite each other on the color wheel and you can create fun, bold contrasting projects!
Look for Pool Party and Calypso Coral on the color wheel below!
Today’s card has a bunch of parts and pieces but I love the way it turned out! I am going to teach you and old technique that I do not see much anymore but in a recent swap my upline did this technique on her card and it reminded me what a fun one it is – called Faux Suede technique!

Measurements:
BASE: Calypso Coral: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
4″ x 5 1/4″ for stamping and die cutting
strip of 1/4″ x 4″
Basic Beige: (3) 4″ x 5 1/4″
strip of 1/4″ x 4″
Pool Party: 4″ x 5 1/4″ for embossing
strip of 1/4″ x 4″

I stamped the starfish in Calypso Coral ink on the same color cardstock for a great tone on tone effect! I die cut each out and set aside for the assembly!
I ran the Pool Party layer through the Seaside Wishes embossing folder and then distressed the edges with my fingers, tearing and bending the outer edges.
I adhered the Basic Beige layer to the Calypso Coral base and then adhered the distressed Pool Party layer at an angle for added visual interest! Sometimes just a little twist of the layer makes the card stand out from the rest!
Using a bone folder rub the 1/4″ strips of Basic Beige, Calypso Coral and pool Party through your finger and bone folder – similar to the way you curl ribbon. Curl the paper the entire length and on both sides until the paper is soft and starts to split. Gently peel the two sides of the paper apart. The paper in the middle looks like suede – hence the name faux suede and can be used as is or you can stamp on larger pieces prepared this way!
I adhered each piece of the suede paper – suede side up across the embossed layer with Stampin’ Seal+.
I die cut one of the Basic Beige layers with the open sand dollar design and a sentiment piece from the Unbounded Love die set. I stamped the sentiment in Calypso Coral ink and placed a line of Stampin’ Seal+ down the center of the die piece only so I could slip die cuts around the edges. I loosely arranged the die and stamped images until I liked the look and then adhered them in place!
I added Ombre Matte Dots to the card front to finish off the coordinated look!

I had a few extra dies so I adhered the last Basic Beige layer to the inside of the card and added a few embellishments to that layer as well. Now the inside of my card coordinates with the card front and adds more visual interest!

Try this color combination and Faux Suede technique the next time you create! Go and create some artwork of your very own soon and share it with everyone – one stamp at a time!

bokeh background with golden greenery

bokeh background with golden greenery

Besides stamping, I love photography! The Bokeh effect has always reminded me of those pictures people take of Christmas lights where the lights are out of focus and there are loads of white circles covering the page – like the photo below!
For today’s blog post I am going to teach you an easy method for recreating this effect! All you need is a circle mask made from punches or dies and white ink!

Measurements:
BASE: Pretty Peacock: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ for masks
4″ x 5 1/4″ for the outside layer
scraps for die cut and sentiment piece.

I did a watercolor wash on an acrylic block. I used the Stampin’ Up! E acrylic block and applied ink direct to the block from the lemon Lime Twist ink pad directly onto the E block in the center.

I added Lost Lagoon to the left side of the block and Pretty Peacock to the right side.
I misted the surface of the acrylic block with water.
Spray enough water so that the ink starts to run together and dose not have a lot of beading on the surface.
Place the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer over the acrylic block and rub gently so that the water and ink absorb into the paper. Pick up and place another paper on the ink – you usually can get two impressions from one ink application – the second will be lighter but still pretty!
Allow to air dry or if in a hurry dry with the Heat Tool.
Every paper turns out with slight variations – I simply LOVE this technique for creating awesome watercolored backgrounds!

Here are some of the papers I created.

Create a mask with multiple different sized circle openings – I used the four smallest circles from the Stylish Shapes die set!
Place over the dried watercolor paper.
Using a Blending brush and the Craft White ink – I squeezed a few drops of re-inker in the ink lid and brushed the ink onto the blending brush.
Using a circular motion I applied the ink over the mask – in a variety of sizes and depths of color.
Remove the mask – reposition and repeat the blending brush ink application until the desired Bokeh effect is achieved.
Stamp a sentiment I chose a sentiment from the new Online Exclusives Greetings of the Season in Pretty Peacock. I fussy cut the sentiment and blended Pretty Peacock ink over the cut surface of the sentiment! I also cut a die from the Golden Greenery die set in Basic White scrap.
I adhered the watercolored layer to the Pretty Peacock base. I popped up the fussy cut sentiment piece onto the lower left hand corcer of the card front.
I popped up the die on mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered it to the top right corner.
I added some white pearlescent sequins from the Adhesive-Backed Sequins Trio to finish off the card.

This effect has always reminded me of Christmas lights so I thought it perfect for this first Christmas card of the season!

Try this Bokeh effect soon and let me know what
