dutch barn door fun fold with regal winter paper

dutch barn door fun fold with regal winter paper

Today I have another fun fold to teach you – this one is a Dutch Barn Door fun fold card featuring some beautiful floral Designer Series paper from the current mini catalog called Regal Winter.

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 8 1/2″ x 8 3/4″
score along the 8 1/2″ side at 2 1/8″ from both
sides.
Score along the 8 3/4″ side at 2 1/4″ and 5 1/2″
DSP: upper dutch door 3″ x 4″
lower dutch barn doors: (2) 1 7/8″ square
Night of Navy CS:
outside matte: 2 7/8″ square
inside matte: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
Basic White CS:
outside sentiment piece: 2 3/4″ square
inside piece: 3 3/4″ x 5″

Cut across the 2 1/4″ score lines to the first intersecting score line at 2 1/8″. Then cut along the 2 1/8″ score line through the 5 1/2″ intersecting score line and cut to the top of the card stock. Do this on both sides of the card, see photo!
The small “doors” on the bottom of the card base will fold inward to meet each other in the middle of the card and the top piece will fold downward towards the barn doors and meet in the middle as well.
Cut the Basic White and Night of Navy cardstock as above in the Measurement section.
Cut the DSP if there is a pattern try to cut the pattern so it matches or at least is adhered in the same direction.
Adhere the 1 7/8″ square DSP pieces to the barn doors on the bottom.
Adhere the inside Night of Navy 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″ matte to the 3 3/4″ x 5″ Basic White to each other and adhere to the inside of the card – hiding the 2 1/4″ score line.
Adhere the larger DSP to the top panel.
I stamped the “MAY YOUR HOLIDAY SEASON BE FILLED WITH WARMTH AND Cheerful Celebration” sentiment with Night of Navy ink onto the smaller Basic White piece. Brush with Night of Navy Blending Brush and adhere to the Night of Navy matte.
Place a strip of Tear & Tape to the top of the backside of the sentiment pieces and add to the top flap of the card when it is closed.
Add Rhinestone Basic Jewels to the sentiment piece and this fun fold card is complete! I really liked this paper but didn’t purchase the set that goes with it. This DSP is so pretty it can stand alone with just adding a sentiment from a set you already own! I love this non-traditional Holiday card!
Try one for yourself – take non traditional colors or paper and create a lovely and unexpected holiday card!
Now go and create some art work of your very own – one stamp, one sentiment, one sheet of DSP at a time!

frosted forest peek-a-boo window card

frosted forest peek-a-boo window card

I have done window cards before and I love the peek through aspect of creating a punch or a die cut geometric shape in a card and placing something through that space to look at. This card uses the Online Exclusive bundle called Frosted Forest – one of my favorites in the last Online Exclusives release! It comes with Masks that are so easy to use and enable ANYONE to be able to color in the tree images with expert precision and ease! Also the stamp set and dies are super versatile! This trio of tree silhouettes is lovely and totally different that the stamp images found in the set.

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
3 3/4″ x 5″
scrap for trio tree silhouette die
Mossy Meadow 4″ x 5 1/4″

I die cut a large circle from the Spotlight on Nature die set in the smaller Basic White layer but you could use the circle punch as well.
I die cut the trio tree die in Basic White and adhered it to the back of the Basic White layer so that the tree images were almost centered.
I adhered the Basic White layer to the Mossy Meadow layer.
I adhered the Mossy Meadow layer to the Basic White card front.
I stamped the words Merry Christmas in Mossy Meadow ink to the bottom of the Basic White layer.
I have a pretty steady hand but should have put this step at the beginning after the circle die or punch step. (This way if you mess up the stamping you can turn over the layer and have a second try at it! Fortunately I did not screw up LOL!)
One of the reasons that Iridescent Pearls are my ALL TIME Favorite embellishment is not only are these exquisite as they are shiny and iridescent – which I love BUT you can color them for every Stampin’ Blends color that you have! I colored them with Mossy Meadow Dark Stampin’ Blends marker to exactly match the cardstock! LOVE THAT!
I decided I wanted a little more snowy sparkle so i whipped out my Wink of Stella glitter pen and brushed the trees and snowy hill and a little of the top Basic White layer with glitter – it’s hard to pick it up in the photos but trust me it is sparkly!!
Try a peek-a-boo window card with a set you have and let me know how it turns out!
Now go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

sneak peak sweetest star punch ornaments

sneak peak sweetest star punch ornaments

Today’s blog post is a sneak peak of a new punch bundle from the upcoming September to December 2024 Mini Catalog debuting this September 4th! The Punch bundle is called Sweetest Star Bundle and features a stamp set with three star images, 4 sentiments and a corner snowflake image. I thought this would make a fun wreath Christmas Ornament and used the upcoming new 6″ x 6″ Take a Bow DSP with the punch to assemble some fun and easy ornaments.

I used old DSP cardboard inserts that I saved for the backing for these ornaments and die cut with the Deckled Circles die set, placing the largest and third largest circle dies inside one another evenly spaced to make a wreath base.

Punch 12 stars from the Take a Bow DSP package.
Adhere tape on the entire wreath base and start to place the stars on the base.
Complete the wreath with the stars.
Stamp the Santa Star with Tuxedo Black Memento ink and color with Stampin’ Blends, stamp the sentiment onto a 1/4″ strip and cut banner edges into each edge.
Adhere the Santa star to the top of the wreath and the sentiment across the bottom.
Tie some twine around the back of the wreath and stamp the To and From from the Greetings of the Season stamp set.
This is the wreath hanging up.
I cut the center circle with the fifth circle down from the Deckled Circle die set to create a circle ornament and a smaller wreath.
Place the stars around the smaller wreath, adhere a ribbon and the sentiment.
Stamp the To and From on the back.
Stamp the Santa Star in Tuxedo Black Memento ink onto the Deckled Circle. Color the Santa with the Stampin’ Blends and adhere two stars onto the bottom of the circle ornament.
Punch a hole and loop the ribbon through the hole and tie in a knot.
The Sweetest Star bundle is so fun and easy to make these Christmas Ornaments!

Go and create some artwork of your own – one stamp at a time.

Measurements:
BASE: Mossy Meadow 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Old Olive layer: 4″ x 11″ scored at 2 7/8″
and 8 1/4″
scraps for die cuts
Basic White layer: 3 3/4″ x 5 1/8″
DSP: (2) 2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″
Pecan Pie: scraps for die cuts

Die cut 2 of the second largest squares from the Stylish Shapes die set in Old Olive cardstock.
Die cut 3 of the largest square from the Stylish Shapes die set in Pecan Pie cardstock.
Cut two different patterns of the DSP.
Die cut a bell from the Season of Green and Gold DSP.

I stamped from the Greetings of the Season stamp set on one of the Old Olive squares and stamped the outside edges with the pine bough stamp in Old Olive ink.
I die cut a bell out of the DSP with the coordinating dies and it wasn’t exactly centered – normally that isn’t very noticeable but I was adding it to darker colored cardstock so I could tell! Let me teach you a little trick! If the die cut’s white border is a little uneven (or in my case NON EXISTENT on one side LOL) die cut a small portion from a scrap strip of white on the same side that you are lacking and adhere it to the die’s backside!
I twisted the Pecan Pie square and rotated it to be a diamond and mounted the Old Olive square on top of the Pecan Pie diamond and adhered the bell die cut – the focal piece is ready to adhere to the card front once ready!
Score the Old Olive piece at 2 7/8″ and 8 1/4″ and fold inward.
Stamp the two step pine bough in the right hand corner of the Basic White layer and then adhere to the center inside panel of the Old Olive layer.
I added an inside sentiment in Pecan Pie.
I usually stamp this prior to adhering down just in case I need to flip the paper over and have a redo but luckily I did it right the first try!
I cut two pieces of different patterns of the Seasons of Green and Gold DSP for the Old Olive layers outside panels and adhered the right side on first.
The front flaps overlap and I want the left side of the flap to remain on top when the card is closed! I adhered the more foliage heavy DSP to this side.
I used one of the Pecan Pie Stylish Shapes die cuts and scored about 1/4″ to the right of the top point when angled as a diamond. score the paper and adhere underneath the DSP. I adhered my DSP for this layer early and then decided to make this a tuck card so I would adhere this side DSP at this point and not as I did in the photos – it will be easier!
Place adhesive on the Pecan Pie diamond on the right side of where the diamond meets the DSP.
Adhere down in place.
Add half of the Old Olive die leaving about 1/4″ border from the edges of the Pecan Pie diamond.
Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the left side of the focal point – do not place the dimensionals over the line from one point to the other or it will show when you open the card. Match up the top and bottom point of the diamond to the edge of the left hand panel.
I added another half diamond of the Pecan Pie and the Old Olive die cuts to balance out the sides of the card.
I moved the bell die cut over to the left hand side of the focal piece for balance as well since the right hand DSP had bells in the design I moved the bell die cut to the opposite side to balance that element out!
I added Iridescent Foil Gems to fill the card out with shimmer and shine!
The focal point piece tucks under the diamonds on the right hand side of the card to allow the card to remain flat and closed! Fun closure to this sweet fun fold! Double flap tucked card or tri-fold tucked card.
Try this fun fold next time you create some art work of your very own – one stamp at a time!
