peony garden dsp z fold card

peony garden dsp z fold card

Just a few short days away and this paper will be an item of the past – all of our Designer Series papers are incredible and the Peony Garden DSP (#152483) is certainly one of them!
This is a Z-Fold card – this fun fold card is a great way to showcase this awesome DSP! This would make a great wedding card or anniversary card!

Measurements:

* Petal Pink cardstock (#146985) 2 pieces
4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ and 2 3/4″
1 1/2″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″ and 2 3/4″
* Peony garden DSP (#152483) 2 pieces
2 1/2″ x 4″ in one pattern
5 1/4″ x 4″ in a complimentary pattern
* Basic White Cardstock (#159276) scrap for the sentiment of choice

Take your bone folder and score all of the score lines on the petal pink cardstock. I make two extra score marks 3/8″ from the outside of both sides of the front panel for a little decoration. (these decor score lines I did not crease)

Adhere the smaller DSP piece to the front panel.

Adhere the larger DSP piece to the inside of the card.
Fold the 1 1/2″ cardstock piece with the score lines on the right hand side of the card. Adhere the smallest section so that the two outside edges are flush with one another. (see photo below)
I put two strips of adhesive over the smaller front panel where the 1 1/2″ piece will lie. Fold the base card and then close the 1 1/2″ piece down over the front panel adhering it to the card front piece as shown in the photo below.
Stampin’ Sponges are retiring – I am sad to see them go as I sponge things all the time – while I LOVE the new Blending Brushes – I will miss the Stampin’ Sponges for this particular application! If you want any order them today do not wait!! Use the hostess code R37A4MHH before I close out the order tomorrow!
I stamped the sentiment from the retiring So Sentimental stamp set (#151691) in Smoky Slate ink (#147118) and sponged the edges of the Stitched So Sweetly die (#151690) with Petal Pink ink (#147108). I used a Full Wide Stampin’ Case (#127551) also retiring to house my stampin’ Sponges in each of the Stampin’ Up! colors!
Adhere the sentiment die cut to the card front add some Pastel Pearls (#154571) as an embellishment and Voila! a beautiful fun fold card!
Hope you try this fun fold and enjoy some stamping today! Go create some art – one stamp at a time!

colored background with painters tape

colored background with painters tape

Here is a fun and unique way to transfer ink to paper using blue painter’s tape!

Measurements:

* Seaside Spray Cardstock (#150883 – retiring) 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
* Basic White Cardstock (#159276) 4″ x 5 1/4″
* 2 pieces of blue painters tape wider than the basic white cardstock and as thick as you choose!
* Baker’s Twine (#152466 – retiring) about 31″ if you wrap it around twice like I did
* Embellishments – 2019-2021 In Color Dots are no longer available
* Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (#132708)
* Seaside Spray Ink (#150085 – Retiring)
* Smoky Slate Ink (#147113)
* Rooted in Nature stamp Set (#146482 – Retiring ) also has coordinating dies that are retiring too (#151786 – Nature’s Roots)

Cut two pieces of blue painter’s tape wider than the cardstock and ink pads (I am using two alternating colors if you choose to use more than two colors you will need a separate piece of tape for each ink color!
Lie the blue tape over the ink pad – sticky side down and rub lightly over the tape’s surface, move the tape over so that the ink coverage is wider than the width of the cardstock. Transfer the tape over to the Basic White cardstock and adhere the tape – sticky and inked side down onto the surface of the white cardstock.

Remove the tape from the cardstock. Notice that the tape leaves a unique impression on the cardstock giving the inked strip lots of depth and dimension! Continue the same technique alternating your colors in the same manner until the desired amount of the cardstock is inked. Here I chose to cover the entire surface in alternating stripes!

I stamped the cardstock with the soon to be retiring Rooted in Nature Stamp set.  Both the sentiment and tree image were stamped over the strip background in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink to make the image boldly stand out!

I added Twine and embellishments to finish out the card and mounted the Basic White Cardstock piece onto the Seaside Spray base card! A fun and easy way to do a background!

Hope this inspired you to go and create art one stamp at a time!

jacobs coat card technique

jacobs coat card technique

Jacob’s Coat is an easy, fun and colorful technique. I started with a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White piece of cardstock. I applied daubs of color in Real Red (#147084), Poppy Parade (#147050), Melon Mambo (#147051), Daffodil Delight (#147094), Mango Melody (#147093), Flirty Flamingo (#147052), Gorgeous Grape (#147099) ink with Sponge Daubers (#141714).
OK at this point it looks like a hot mess – doesn’t it! but just wait I promise the end result will be stunning! (If you have an Embossing Buddy – these are retired from stamping up but well worth the investment if you can find one – this is an antistatic little pillow filled with a chalking substance that puts a thin coat over the cardstock surface to stop the powder from sticking anywhere but on the Versamark inked areas – rub it on the cardstock surface) Next I pulled out my Stamparatus (#149276) and mounted the Butterfly Brillance stamp set (#155092) to the hinged plate and inked the stamp with a freshly inked Versamark Pad (#102283) and then stamped the butterfly images over the colored piece of cardstock.
Apply Clear embossing powder over the entire surface. Tap away the excess powder and heat set with a Heat Tool (#129053).
Rub Tuxedo Black Momento Ink direct to the paper until the entire surface is covered and then using a paper towel rub the excess black ink off the embossed portions of the card front and the color emerges like magic!
I finished this card by adding a Gorgeous Grape Sheer ribbon (#154572) wrapped around the colored cardstock layer then mounted that layer onto a Basic white cardstock layer measuring 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and then mounted those two layers onto a Real Red cardstock base measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored in the center at 4 1/4″
The card I made in the Facebook Live video I did not use the Embossing buddy and did not brush off the excess powder so it is not as defined as the first card shown above. If you do not have an embossing buddy you can try a soft bristle brush dipped in a small amount of cornstarch and brushed onto the card surface (I haven’t tried this myself because I have an embossing buddy but am told this trick works)
Here is another sample everyone is a little different depending upon the colors used below
