I love paper piecing – it can be a tedious task for some but the results are usually stunning and in my humble opinion – so well worth it!!

I saw a recent Instagram video with our CEO Sara Douglass and she was casing a card on page 78 of the JJ mini catalog (nickname for the January to June Mini!) I do not have the Flowering Rainbow boots (I know hard to believe! I feel somedays like I own the whole catalog!! LOL) So I basically took the technique she was highlighting and did my own twist!

First I took two scraps of Basic White cardstock large enough to fit the die cut you choose to use – the diamond pattern in the Rain Boots Dies is perfect for this technique so would the leaf outline dies in Tropical Layers Dies or the outline hearts in the Sweet Hearts Dies. I colored one of the scraps with Balmy Blue and Misty Moonlight inks and Blending Brushes. Then Die cut the image and carefully save all the little pieces from the die cut.

Adhere the scrap to the base card and then take the alternate color die and adhere it with liquid multipurpose glue back in to the space where the opposite color used to be.
Then carefully using your Take Your Pick tool adhere using the glue all of the original blue colored cardstock back into position – now the die cut pops in white surrounded by the blending brush colored cardstock inserts and EVERYONE will wonder HOW you did it!
I added two left over strips of Simply Marbleous DSP (which I know was a FREE gift in Jan-Feb 2022 Sale-a-bration – but I have a reason why – WHY you ask? well I’ll tell you – I have a few extra sale-a-bration gifts and if you place a $50 order in March your name will be put into a random drawing for either a pack of that DSP or one of the stamp sets I have! You must use the hostess code to qualify!! Current hostess code is 73DS67WP!! Good Luck!
I added a scrap strip of 1/2″ Basic White cardstock with the Misty Moonlight to match the base cardstock and punched the ends with the Banners Pick a Punch!
Finished this card off with the brand new limited time only (until May or while supplies last) Rhinestone Wave Basic Jewels from the new Waves of the Ocean Collection! and some White Glittered Organdy Ribbon.
The title indicated cards two ways – in order to have the middle of the card be alternating colors you have to die cut the die twice so I did the opposite and made a card from the white cardstock without using the large negative space on the outside for a totally different look! I used the same ingredients but opposite colors love the way these turned out!

Hope you like it too and this inspires you to try paper piecing!
Now go and create a little art of your own – one stamp or in this case one die cut at a time!!

Happy Paper Piecing!
