Today’s Blog post is a card I featured in last Thursday’s Card class and yesterday’s Sunday night Facebook Live! It is another fun fold card – this one is called a Diagonal Z fold and I was inspired by several videos from fellow demonstrators. This card starts with a regular sized 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of cardstock. Scored at 4 /14″ and 2 1/8″.
Measurements:

Calypso Coral Cardstock (#122925)
*5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″
Butterfly Bijou DSP (#156824)
4″ x 5 1/4″
a complimentary design at 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″
scraps for embellishing

Make a tick mark at 2 inches from the bottom of the Calypso Coral (#122925) base cardstock to the left of the short 2 1/8″ section. I place the card at the 2″ mark on the Stampin’ Trimmer (#152392) and ran my bone folder (#in the groove of the paper cutter to make a small notch in the paper to mark a tick mark.

Placing the tick mark in the cutting grove and the 4 1/4″ score line also in the cutting groove
Cut from the tick mark to the top of that score mark.
This is what the card will look like at this point in the cutting and scoring process!

Take the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Butterfly Bijou DSP (#156824) and make a tick mark at 1 3/4″ and do the same diagonal cut from the tick mark to the corner of the DSP. (Cut from the flat edge to the corner as the corner is fragile and can buckle or accordion if pushed to cut from that side!)

Take the diagonally cut piece of DSP and cut a 1/4″ piece out of the middle – the easiest way to do this is to cut the paper from the edge in 1 7/8″ from each side and you will end up with a 1/4″ piece cut from the middle.
Take the 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of complimentary DSP and make a tick mark at 1 3/4″ and cut diagonally to the corner.
Adhere the papers to the inside left and center panels, leaving an even border.
Take the 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ piece of complimentary DSP and make a tick mark at 1 3/4″ and cut diagonally to the corner. Adhere this to the front center panel as shown in the picture below.
Add embellishments to the card. I added two die cuts from the Butterfly Bijou DSP (#156824) using the Butterfly wings (#155523) die set and another for the front of the card using the more detailed butterfly dies in Basic White cardstock (#159276).
I added a sentiment from the Peaceful Moments (#151595) stamp set and stamped it all the way to the left near the score line so that the sentiment is hidden when the card is closed. I also used a Calypso Coral Stampin’ Write marker from the Many Marvelous Markers set (#147154) or the Subtles Marker assortment (#147156) to free hand draw a dotted line to make it look like the butterfly is flying from the words toward the outside of the card!
Here is another version of the card using Basic White cardstock (#159276) and Blushing Bride (#131198) cardstock and Sand and Sea Designer Series Paper (154288)!
And if you missed last night’s Facebook live where I demonstrate this diagonal Z fold card above feel free to take a peek at it!
Here are a few pictures of the card I created in the Facebook Live. I added the smaller triangle that I cut from the second complimentary 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ DSP and mounted it to the lower right hand corner and moved the smaller patterned butterfly to the lower left hand corner and added that smaller detailed die cut butterfly that I was looking for during the video!
Hope you enjoyed this new Diagonal Z Fold fun fold card!
Now go create art one stamp at a time!

Happy Stampin’,
Natalie
