Here is a fun way to use Designer Series Paper! This is the Kaleidoscope technique – easy and impressive!
Measurements:
Smoky Slate CS base 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″ and scrap for sentiment
Whimsy and Wonder DSP cut a 4″ x 5 1/4″
cut in kaleidoscope triangles as shown
Cut the DSP in half on the 4″ side at 2″.
Turn 90 degrees and cut in half on the 5 1/4″ side at 2 5/8″. If patterned paper keep in order together after cut.
Take the upper left quadrant rectangle and cut from the upper left corner to the lower right hand corner by placing the corner points into the cutting track.
Place the cutting blade in the center of the paper and pushing out to the edge (this prevents the paper from crinkling at the corner points as they are thinner and more fragile – so cutting from the center outward towards the edges keeps that from happening)
Take the bottom left quadrant rectangle and place in the cutting groove with the upper right hand corner towards the top of the track and the bottom left hand corner towards the bottom of the track and cut a diagonal line through the DSP piece.
Take the other lower quadrant rectangle on the right side and place in the track as shown below with the upper left hand corner at the top of the track and the lower right hand corner towards the bottom of the track and cut a diagonal line through the middle of this rectangle.
Take the final quadrant rectangle from the upper right hand side and place it in the cutting groove track as shown below in the photo. Place the rectangle with the upper right hand corner towards the top of the cutting groove and the lower left hand corner towards the bottom of the track and cut the diagonal line. Make sure to place the pieces back in their original places as before cutting so that the patterns will match.
Using your silicone mat and Multipurpose Glue Adhere the first triangle to the top left side of the card as shown
Take the second part of the rectangle and adhere it to the left edge of the base cardstock as shown leaving a very small border around the triangle.
Take the third piece of the upper right hand rectangle and adhere to the card as shown below.
Take the next piece of the upper right hand rectangle and adhere to the card as shown below.
Move to the first piece of the lower left hand rectangle and adhere to the card as shown below.
Adhere the second piece of the lower left hand rectangle and afix to the card as shown below.
Move to the first piece of the lower right hand rectangle and adhere to the card as shown below.
Move to the last piece of the lower right hand rectangle and adhere to the card as shown below.
Using the Wonderful Snowflakes adhere one irridescent snowflake to the center of the kaleidoscope.
Stamp a sentiment and cut out around the words, pop the sentiment up with mini dimensionals and adhere to the center of the snowflake.
With the aid of the awesome Take Your Pick Tool, place the Metallic Pearls on the cardfront for a little bling!
I dyed the Petal Pink Organdy Striped Ribbon to Blushing Bride to match the hue of the DSP and added it to the top of the card fold!
This is an easy card dressed to impress! Give it a try with whatever DSP you have on hand – now go and create a little art of your own – one stamp at a time!
