more color mondays – azure afternoon, crushed curry and basic white

Back in June 2021, I posted a card that featured the floating elements technique. Today i am using a few techniques and that is one of them!

More Color Monday’s is back with a bright and cheery combination of blue, yellow and white. The look is crisp and clear and I really like this card!

The Current Hostess code is HGE4RYHW.

Measurements:
BASE: Azure Afternoon CS 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White layer: 4″ x 2 5/8″
CS Strips: 1/2″ wide of varying lengths (must be
wider than the die you will be using)
Window Sheet: (must be larger than the die cut you will be using)

Using a window sheet, adhere CS strips equally spaced to the window sheet and die cut with a shape die. (There are two layers so run the die through several times to ensure that the cuts run all the way through both layers)

Place the Basic White layer under one of the Foursquare Decorative mask background plastic layers. Using Azure Afternoon ink and a Blending Brush, apply color with ink and brush until the entire surface is inked with the design.
Fold the Base card in half and adhere the Basic White layer offset on the right side center of the card front.
Place Stampin’ Dimensionals strategically under the CS strips to pop up the Floating Element on the card and place partially over the Basic White layer on the card front.
The Die will appear to “float” on the card, hence the Floating element technique. It is a very cool effect!
I added ribbon to the card for a finishing touch and this More color Monday is in the books. I hope you play along with me and push your creativity to the next level by trying a few new color challenges. Now go out and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

two tone flora die card

two tone flora die card

Today’s blog post is all about the large die in the Two Toned Flora bundle – I eyed this die for the longest time and finally broke down and bought it – I like the set a lot more then I thought I would the two step stamping gives the flowers so much depth and dimension but it is this large die that first caught my attention! I have seen it with darker colored cardstock in the background but I had an idea to do a tri-color watercolor wash and I LOVE the way this turned out – so I am going to teach you how to do it!

Measurements:
BASE: Flirty Flamingo 4 1/4″ x 11
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White: (2) 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ scrap for the
sentiment piece
Window sheet

Set out a window sheet, I used half a sheet and grab three colors of Stampin’ Blends markers – I used Dark Poppy Parade, Dark Flirty Flamingo and Dark Daffodil Delight.

Literally scribble lines on the window sheet, I started with the Poppy Parade. Probably would be better to start with the lightest color and go in the opposite order as I did. I was careful not to cross contaminate the colors but going lightest to darkest is better in case you are not careful and run your Daffodil Delight into a scribble of Poppy Parade!
Scribble lines of your next color – Flirty Flamingo.
Scribble your last color – mine was Daffodil Delight.
Spray generously with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol until the individual lines of the colors start to blur and mix.
Lay the paper into the alcohol mixture and pat all points on the paper so it absorbs the ink and alcohol mixture all over the cardstock
Wipe off the window sheet and if the color is too light or you missed spots or it is not to your liking YET…add more colors to the window sheet and reapply alcohol and apply the cardstock.
Cut the die to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and apply glue the back and glue the alcohol wash piece to the large die.
Cut the two pieces down to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to the card base.
Add ribbon (this is a ribbon that is discontinued sorry!)
Use the Iridescent Pastel Gems to the card front.
I used a sentiment die from the Sentimental Park die set and stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink and the sentiment is from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set. I water colored the flowers on the die cut with a water painted and Flirty Flamingo ink and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
irresistible, hello window sheet card

irresistible, hello window sheet card

Window Sheets add a transparent layer and lots of depth and dimension to any project and this window sheet card is simple and an easy WOW card!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″ cut on the 5 1/2″ side at
1 1/4″ from card edge to the score and from
3″ from card edge to the score, then cut
along the score line between the 1 1/4″
mark and the 3″ mark
Window Sheet: 4″ x 5 1/4″
DSP: 1″ x 4″ and 2 1/4″ x 4″
scrap Basic White CS for die cuts

Score the Basic White CS 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ at 4 1/4″ cut on the 5 1/2″ side at 1 1/4″ from card edge to the score and from 3″ from card edge to the score, then cut along the score line between the 1 1/4″ mark and the 3″ mark. When you fold the card in half this will create two flaps connected at the score line to the card.
Adhere the window sheet to the card front connecting the two flaps. Leave an 1/8″ border around the window sheet.
Adhere the larger DSP piece to the bottom of the card leaving an even white border around the DSP piece. Adhere the top piece in the same manner.
I die cut the long dotted piece out of Basic White CS and attached it to the left side of the card front.
Stamp two large flower in Pool Party and die cut. Stamp the leaves in our returning color Pretty Peacock and die cut.
Adhere the flower to both sides of the window sheet (they will not be an exact match but line them up as close as possible. Adhere the leaves to the inside of the card base so that they show through the window and line up behind the flower image.
Stamp the sentiment in Pretty Peacock and die cut as a large banner die from the Stylish Shapes dies set. Pop up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere to the center bottom of the card front.
Open the card and stamp the hello sentiment inbetween the leaf images.
Add Iridescent Pastel Gems to the sentiment piece and ribbon around the top edge of the window sheet and the clever window card is complete!
Make a see through window card today – one stamp at a time!

watercolor snowflakes 3 ways – shaker card

watercolor snowflakes 3 ways – shaker card

If you have already gone to Monday’s blog post then the first two photos will be redundant!

I am using a watercolor wash technique on Simmery White cardstock and die cutting the two detailed snowflake images from the Chic Die set (#158815)

This week’s blog posts are all going to start with the same technique but I am going to show the finished product on three types of cards. I love to watercolor – it’s fluid and fun and looks great every time – even if you think it looks messy sometimes those make the best pieces of cardstock to use! I started with Shimmery White cardstock (#101910) not only does this cardstock have a glorious shimmer to it but it is thick enough to stand up to watercoloring on it! (and the finished product sparkles!!!) I smoosh the top of our Classic Stampin’ Ink Pads down onto the ink pad inside tranferring some ink to the case top making a palette inside the cover like a paint tray! I watercolored in two ink colors Pacific Point (#147098) and Starry Sky (#159212) adding extra water to the ink in the lid with a waterpainter brush (#151298) and applying it to pre-wettened Shimmery White cardstock – apply color until happy with the coverage and depth of color – add more color to make the hue darker and richer in tone.

Using the snowflake dies from the Chic Die Set (#158815) I cut multiple snowflakes from one 4″ x 5 1/2″ sheet of watercolored Shimmer White cardstock. This will be the same starting process for all the cards this week.
now this is where the process becomes different for each card this week uses some of those snowflakes but this one also uses the nagative space from the original watercolored cardstock used to cut the snowflakes – I just hate to waste a beautiful piece of watercolored cardstock! AND THIS IS THE PERFECT APPLICATION for this negative space.
Measurements:

Card Base: Orchid Oasis 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Layers: Shimmery White CS 4″ x 5 1/4″
(I did a watercolor wash on two of these for sentiment pieces and the snowflakes)
Window Sheet 4″ x 5 1/4″
Snowflake Specialty Vellum 4″ x 5 1/4″
Scraps: 1″ x 4 1/4″ Orchid Oasis and backing for
the snowflake
3/4″ x 4″ Watercolored Shimmery White

Adhere the Window Sheet (#142314) to the back of the watercolored Shimmery White (#101910) cardstock layer.
Adhere the Snowflake vellum to the cardbase. Although the vellum will be mostly hidden by the sequins and the forward layer I did take the extra time to adhere this layer with mini Glue Dots (#103683) to the backside of the larger silver dots on the patterned vellum that way the adhesive is totally invisible!
Turn the watercolored layer over and adhere Foam Adhesive Strips the entire way around the periphery of the card, making sure not to leave any holes as the shaker card will “leak” sequin!
Add a small pile of Sparkle and Shine Sequins Assortment to the center of the vellum layer.
Remove the paper backing from the Foam adhesive Strips and match up the sides to the edges of the Vellum and rub gently to make sure all the strips adhere and seal the shaker card closed.
Stamped a sentiment onto extra watercolored Shimmery White cardstock and adhered to an Orchid Oasis matte and added to the cardfront.
Also added a die cut snowflake with a scrap piece of Orchid Oasis CS behind. Added a sequins in the middle of that snowflake embellishment
Last but not least I added a knotted Metallic Mesh ribbon to the spine of the card!

Shaker cards are such a fun interactive card – try your hand at it! Go out and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

stampin’ blends and alcohol on window sheets

stampin’ blends and alcohol on window sheets

Another fun way to use our Stampin’ Blends markers! This technique uses Window Sheets and 99% Isopropyl Alcohol.

Measurements and supplies:

Base Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
Basic White Cardstock 4″ x 5 1/4″ (2) (#159276)
Window Sheet 4″ x 5 1/4″ (#142314)
Basic White Cardstock scraps (#159276)
Basic Black Cardstock scraps (#121045)
Stampin’ Blends
Poppy Parade (#154958)
Mambo Melon (#153112)
Misty Moonlight (#153108)
Shaded Spruce (#154903)
Granny Apple Green (#154885)
So Saffron (#154905)
Balmy Blue (#154830)
Mint Macaron (#514889)

Scribble your selected colors on the Window Sheet.

Take the 99% alcohol in a dropper bottle.
Using a Bulb syringe and blow the alcohol and ink around until dry and the pattern desired.
The ink design on the Window Sheet shows best when backed on our Basic White cardstock. Because the Window Sheets are clear you can see the adhesive. In order to hide this I take the two largest dies from the Stitched Rectangles set and nest them evenly together and cut a thin stitched frame. I adhere the frame to the opposite side of the ink color on the Window sheet. I attach that to a Basic white 4″x 5 1/4″ cardstock piece and cut off the excess around the edges. I mounted onto a base colored piece of cardstock and decorated the cardfront. Here are two finished examples!
The window Sheet I did with the Blues and Greens reminded me of a sky or a galaxy background so i stamped the Angel from the Angels of Peace stamp set (#156365), colored her with Light Balmy Blue (#154830) and Light Mint Macaron (#154889) Stampin’ Blends Markers. Her hair in Light So Saffron (#154905), her skin tone in Light Petal Pink (154893) and the bird in Light Misty Moonlight (#153108).
Apply Wink of Stella to the bodice of the dress and her wings. Pop her up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and add some Basic Rhinestone Jewels and the sentiment.
Using Poppy Parade and Mambo Melon, I created the background and the backed the card on Basic White cardstock and a white Stitched Rectangle die (#151820) cut frame over the top of the acetate to cover the adhesive. I used the Tombo MultiPurpose glue (#110755) to adhere the flower die cut from the Artistic Dies and the sentiment from the Art gallery stamp set. I finished off the card by backing the sentiment onto Basic Black cardstock, popping it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) and adding some sparkle with the Rhinestone Basic Jewels (#144220).

This is such a fun and easy technique and the results are gorgeous and unique every time you try it! So order some Stampin’ Blends if you don’t have any, a package of window sheets and get some 99% Isopropyl alcohol and have a go at this technique! Have fun and be creative at least once a day! It’s good for the soul. Now co and create some art of your own…one stamp at a time!
