weaving a die

weaving a die

This card is a great way to use those strip scraps that you always get from cutting down cardstock and either throw away or if you are like me save for a rainy day because it paper and you can always use paper right? LOL!
the 1/4″ strips that I have in abundance – well cut them in half to 1/8″ strips and weave them through the Dots and Spots die for a fun and different look!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS – 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
1/8″ strips at least 5 1/2″ long
Basic Black CS: Scraps for silhouette Meadows
Die cuts
Berry Burst: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ die cut with the
Dots and Spots die

Using a bone folder bend the paper strips to break the paper fibers and increase the pliability so the strips will be easier to weave through the die.
I started weaving the second strip through the same side and then ripped it back out and decided to strat from the other side and alternate the weaving strips.
Finish the weaving and turn over to the backside and place a strip of adhesive down both sides to bend over the strip ends and fasten them down.
Adhere the weaving to the card front and decorate with the silhouette Black CS dies from the Meadows Die set.

I added a vellum circle die cut from the Stylish Shapes die set and stamped with a sentiment from the Wonderful thoughts stamp set in coordinating Berry Burst ink.

I added a die cut and embellishments to hide the adhesive to afix the vellum circle and this pretty weaved card is complete!

I love this look and hope you try this technique! Now go and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

rainbow scrap cards

rainbow scrap cards

I love using up scraps of paper to make beautiful cards and today that is what we are featuring. I have made strip scrap cards before and I had a bunch of various strips in rainbow colors so I made lots of cards!

Start with a base of some type, put glue or tape down on the base and start to adhere the strips in random or a calculated order you choose! This is your own adventure!

For the first sample I created a frame from 2 consecutive Stitched Rectangle dies and placed Stampin’ Seal around the entire perimeter of the frame and started to lay down the strips diagonally in rainbow order.

I added some DSP from the Sale-a-bration scrap paper Dainty Flowers as well.

Using Paper Snips I cut off the excess strips around the frame and adhered the frame to the card base of Coastal Cabana.

I die cut the larger flower image out of the Artistic Dies in Basic Black CS and adhered it to the lower right portion of the frame.

I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Something Fancy sentiment set and punched it out with the Banners Pick a Punch
I popped up the Sentiment strip in Coastal Cabana onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered to the upper left hand corner of the card.
I added rhinestone embellishments to the card and this sample is vibrant and easy to make!
This sample is similar but uses the Amazing Thanks die cuts for the sentiment instead of a stamped image.
The next sample I used a base piece not a frame and adhered the strips to this.
Cut off the excess strips hanging over the edge of the base when completely covered.
I ran this base piece through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss with the Let’s Celebrate embossing Folder for a subtle Happy Birthday embossed wording.

I mounted this onto a white layer and then onto the card base of Gorgeous Grape CS.

And added Matte Black Dots for the embellishment contrast!

Again starting with a Basic White base layer I adhered the strips and this time die cut with a Stitched Rectangle die, popped up the rainbow striped layer and added a Basic White Gingko Branch die on top.

Die cut the You Are Amazing from the Amazing Thanks dies in Basic White and Basic Black and added to the card with Matte Black Dots for the embellishment!

Rainbow colors are the perfect background for a silhouette card and the Meadows Dies are just the ticket for this sample!

This strip card I alternated the rainbow colors with varying widths of Basic Black strips and added Forever Flourishing dies in vellum under the Something Fancy die and sentiment piece! Adding Iridescent Pastell Gems makes the card even prettier!
Just Stunning!

My last sample (although it was addicting and hard to stop – LOL) is alternating blues and green with black – embossed with the Into The Clouds Sale-a-bration Add-On FREE embossing Folder. (NOTE: below in the supply list Into the Clouds is pictured twice – the first entry is the current regular catalog # in case you want to buy it outright or the second entry is with the special Sale-a-bration item # for those that qualify with a $50 order to get it for FREE!) I die cut clouds from the Playing in the Rain Die set in Basic White CS and vellum – layering the vellum under the Basic White cardstock for the shadowing effect. I embellished the card with the Brushed Brass Butterflies and the Something Fancy Bundle!

This is a fun and easy way to use up scraps but do not blame me if you cannot stop once you start!! Go out and create your own strip scrap art if you dare! One stamp at a time!

busy day – quick card

busy day – quick card

If you have followed me for a while you know we have spent the last year in remodeling our forever home on the lake and today was a busy one finishing up lots of unfinished little odds and ends. We are blessed with the best contractor in the area and I was excited to get all the items on our punch list completed. The most exciting of the little jobs left was our kitchen backsplash – we debated whether to do one at all so it was a last minute add in and not completed in the initial pass through – but today they finished it and it is gorgeous!
Here is a peak at that project and the quick card I made today in the midst of all that busyness! It’s a lovely glass subway tile in pearlescent whites, grays and beige- I LOVE IT!!!
The card is also set in a background of white, this time with 1/4″ scrap strips. I placed half of them consecutively in the 3D embossing folder Timeworn Type. Then I adhered alternating strips of embossed and plain strips down a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Thick White cardstock scored in half at 5 1/2″. I then stamped the larger floral image in Smoky Slate on a Stylish Shapes circle die and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink (both from the Fitting Florets stamp set). I used a die from the same bundle Framed Florets in Silver Foil for the accent pieces and used the upcoming NEW embellishments – Opaque Adhesive-backed Gems (SNEAK PEAK) for the matching bling! I finished it off with the Gray Granite ribbon and there you have a quick and easy card for a busy day!
Hope you can sneak in a quick and easy card on your busy days because there is a great sense of accomplishment when you create your own art – one stamp at a time!

While you are looking at the catalog,do you ever see something new even though you have perused it a lot!!

The “Through It Together” stamp set is a great linear sentiment stamp set featured on page 72 of the annual 2021-2022 Stampin’ Up! Catalog. This is one of those stamp sets that can be easily overlooked but is a great one to own!
