Let’s see this card combines some of my favorite things: ink blending with the Blending Brushes, using up my 1/2″ scrap strips, and creating fun and easy backgrounds for my cards – check, check and check! Checks all the boxes and makes for a very pretty and easy card!

Measurements:

Colored Cardstock to match one of your ink
colors: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Basic White layer: 5 1/4″ x 4″
possible Basic Black and Basic White scraps for
sentiment piece
Basic White scrap 1/2″ strips in varied lengths
needs to be greater than 4″ in length

Did you know that if you allow the Multi-Purpose Liquid Glue to dry without adhering it to the card surface the glue becomes tacky and can be used as a temporary adhesive? Cool, right? Apply a small amount of liquid glue and allow to dry to a couple small areas on the back of the 1/2″strips (inside the 4″ marks.
Attach them to the Basic White layer horizontally across the 4″ side of the layer.

The strips have been used once for a previous card (it was difficult to see the white on white strips -so I temporarily adhered the used strips so it was easier to see them on the Basic White Cardstock layer.

Using Blending Brushes and varying colors burnish the different colors into the exposed portions of the Basic White Cardstock layer.

Peel and remove the 1/2″ strips from the Basic White cardstock layer.
Decorate as desired – this is such a fun and easy technique!

Below I created these two easy cards using Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the Color and Contour and Biggest Wish stamp sets and the Irridescent jewels for the card on the Poppy Parade base cardstock and Through It Together sentiment and Matte Black Dots for the card on the Mango Melody card base.

Try this easy technique for some versatile and creative backgrounds for your next cards! Go and create a little artwork of your own – one stamp at a time!
