product review lights aglow specialty designer series paper – on retiring list if you like this order now!

Every season as we get ready to release a new catalog there is some sadness and heartbreak as we say goodbye to some beautiful stamp sets and bundles, gorgeous DSP and accessories. Of course it is so we can make room for even more gorgeous things to want but none the less it is hard to say goodbye to some. This Specialty Designer Series paper is one of those – if you love the samples below then do not miss out on this 6″ x 6″ Lights Aglow Specialty DSP (#159535) in Basic Black, Cherry Cobbler, Evening Evergreen, Soft Succulent and Very Vanilla!
Current Hostess Code is FA3VX7JQ.
The card above is made with a 3″ x 5 1/2″ piece of the DSP that is decorated with a gold foiled tree starred branches. Added a 1/4″ gold foil strips and Gold ribbon on a Soft Succulent base card. These papers are so elegant on their own that you need to do very little to make a lovely card!
One side of the paper is foiled that is why it is designated as Specialty paper. This side of the paper has a pretty Soft Succulent Bokeh background with Evening Evergreen snowflakes and a gold foiled polka dotted background for a gorgeous background to any card. A small embossed gold square makes a stunning focal point for this card.
Snowflakes stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on thick white cardstock set the bold background for the Basic Black and gold paper adhered to one side of the card. A gold die cut snowflake from the Twinkling Lights dies makes a focal point that pops in Distressed Gold Specialty paper. A pop of Cherry Cobbler DSP draws the eye to the bottom of this card.
All the directions for this embossed DSP card can be found on November 21st blog post! Love the Bokeh design in the DSP!
The three images above are three different colors of embossing powder and the directions for these cards are on my November 18th blog post for all the information!
These two photos above are a fun fold card that is detailed on my September 30th blog post as a bi-fold window flap fun fold card!
These card are just the tip of the iceberg that you can create with these beautiful specialty designer series papers! Try your hand at creating with these papers and some of the matching stamps, you will amaze yourself how easy it is to create with these lovely papers. Go out and create some art of your own – one stamp and one specialty DSP piece at a time!

twisted ribbon technique

twisted ribbon technique

This is a fun paper technique that uses Designer Series Paper to look like a wrapped ribbon around a piece of paper.
There are many samples of it on the internet and this is my version using the Texture Chic Suite.

Measurements:

BASE: Basic White CS 4 1/2″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Pool Party layers: 2 pieces of 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White layer: 1 piece of 1 5/8″ x 5″
Strips of Texture Chic Specialty paper:
12 pieces of 1/2″ x 2 1/2″
Scraps for front focal pieces in Pool Party and
Basic White CS

On the Basic White CS piece in pencil place tic marks along both sides at 1/2″ intervals.
Add Liquid glue from the top left tic mark to the second tic mark on the right side of the CS piece and continue down the left side skipping to every other tic mark.
Adhere the strips to the Basic White CS placing them just above the tic marks.
Place glue in the opposite direction from the bottom corner of the left hand piece to the top corner of the right hand pice and secure the opposite color on the other DSP side in the opposite direction – see picture below.
I added one extra darker piece at the top
Turn over to the back side and cut off the DSP overhang
Adhere the 1 5/8″ x 5″ piece of DSP to the Pool Party matte that is 1 7/8″ x 5 1/4″ and then adhere to the left side of the base card leaving a 1/4″ border around the outside.
Adhere the Twisted Ribbon Layer to the Pool Party matte and adhere to the right side of the card.
Stamp the seashell images and sentiment from the Season of Chic stamp set in Pool Party on Basic White cardstock and die cut images.

Die cut the background image in Pool Party and adhere the background and two seashells to the left side of the card front.

Die cut the sentiment with the smaller banner die from the Stylish Shapes die set and pop up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and add on top of the seashell focal piece.
Add the Gold Pearls from the Red and Green Adhesive backed Pearls to the card front.
Add Pool Party Sheer Ribbon to the top of the card!
Such a fun and easy layer using the Twisted Ribbon technique! Try it soon and create some beautiful art of your very own – one stamp (or DSP strip!) at a time!

vellum layering designs

vellum layering designs

This is a quick product review.
I will be back and post another blog post on Saturday until then enjoy your week and enjoy this very cool new product in the January to June 2022 Mini Catalog – Vellum Layering Designs. I love the delicate nature of vellum and all the fun things you can do with it. this new vellum has printed designs on one side – 6 designs 2 sheets each design some printed in black and some printed in white.
I used the cut from left over from Monday’s blog post and mounted the printed vellum to the frame to get around the issue of vellum’s translucent nature and adhesive issues! I mounted that onto a Basic Black mat and added to a Basic White standard card base.

I stamped the sentiment from the Create with Friends stamp set in Coastal Cabana ink on the same colored cardstock. I popped the sentiment up and added it to the top of the vellum focal point and stamped the Flowing Flowers large flower in Coastal Cabana ink and fussy cut the flower and popped it up as well. I added Black Glittered Organdy ribbon to finish off this card!
Enjoy! Try this vellum and go create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

specialty papers – so many choices!

specialty papers – so many choices!

We LOVE Stampin’ Up! for so many reasons – but one of the best has to be the Gorgeous papers they keep producing! This year is no different – besides the fantastic Designer Series papers there are so many new Specialty papers that it is so difficult to choose what to show you – so I thought I would show you a bunch of different cards using different types of specialty papers!
Cork Specialty paper (#156393) featured on page 55 of the July to December 2021 mini catalog is amazingly thin cork with paper backing allowing you to cut this paper without tearing. You can stamp directly onto the paper and it adds the most incredible texture to your cards. To this card I stamped a few leaves from the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set (#153365), added Brushed Metallic Adhesive backed Dots (#156506) and the Gold Fine Art ribbon (#154561)
I used the Cork Specialty paper on this second sample and added black cardstock with silhouette die cuts from the Nature’s Harvest bundle. (#156813). The Black and White Gingham ribbon (#156485) and Brushed Metallic Adhesive Backed Dots (#156506) complete the look!
Starting with the coordinating color of cardstock- Poppy Parade, I mounted a 2″ x 5 1/2″ strip of the newer Ombre Specialty paper (#155784) to the front of the card. I added a white Nature’s Harvest die and the some ribbon to finish the card.
Silver Foil Specialty pack (#156457) creates the perfect sparkly material for snowflakes! I splattered some Wink of Stella on the base of the card! Adhered the die cut snowflake from the Frosted Gingerbread Bundle!
Last but not least this card is made with the 2021-2023 In Color Shimmer Vellum. I cut the vellum to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere it to the Basic White cardstock with the multi-purpose glue all over the back of the vellum! Added a black die cut from the Artistic Dies set!
Can you see that Shimmer – crazy sparkle!! I LOVE it! Hopefully I have inspired you to go out and create some art – one stamp at a time!
