more color mondays – pretty peacock, calypso coral, petunia pop waterfall card

more color mondays – pretty peacock, calypso coral, petunia pop waterfall card

Welcome back to another edition of More Color Mondays – this one was inspired from the Thoughtful Journey Designer Series Paper – which I have been playing with a bunch – I just can’t seem to get enough of it!
This color challenge was an interesting one – I really like the color combination but would never have thought of putting these three colors together but drawing from the DSP it is easy to tie colors together.
Today’s card is a Waterfall Fold card and super fun and easy. To make the most out of my 6″ x 6″ DSP I changed the dimensions of my original template and used an extra layer so that the dsp is only a 3″ x 3″ square therefore getting two of these cards out of one sheet of Designer Series Paper! Grab Pretty Peacock, Calypso Coral and Petunia Pop and let’s start crafting!

Measurements:
Base: Pretty Peacock 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 2 1/2″, 3 3/4″, 6 3/4″ and 8 1/4″
1st layer (Calypso Coral) (2) 3 1/2″ squares
2nd layer (Petunia Pop) (2) 3 1/4″ squares
3rd layer (DSP) (2) 3″ squares
Basic White1 7/8″ x 3 1/2″ & scrap for die cut

Start with the 2 1/2″ piece on the left hand side and fold Mountain fold at the 2 1/2″ score line then valley at 3 3/4″ mountain at 6 3/4″ and valley at 8 1/4″
Position the smaller 2 1/2″ panel at the top we will be putting this card together in portrait rotation but you could position the 2 1/2″ panel to the right and do it in landscape position as well. Stamping in Pretty Peacock ink on the Pretty Peacock cardstock to create a tone on tone background stamp the Thinking of you fondly sentiment in the center and then the leaf stamp around the words hanging off the bottom edge.
Adhere the 1 7/8″ x 3 1/2″ Basic White layer to the bottom fold in the center.
Adhere the Designer Series Paper 3″ squares to the 3 1/4″ layer and then to the 3 1/2″ layer x2.
If there is a direction to the DSP adhere the bottom piece of DSP to the top edge of the middle section making sure that the piece covers the Basic White layer on the bottom section.
Adhere the top piece of DSP to the top panel leaving about a 1/4″ from the top and about 1/2″ from the sides.
Stamp the sentiment dearest friend on the upper left hand side of the top DSP paper.
Adhere the top leaves of the die cut to the top panel and let the rest hang over the middle panel free and lose. Add the pretty new Adhesive-Backed Pearl Trios.
This is what the card looks like extended out all of the way!
fun to see the DSP scene come back together as you open up the card!

Try this fun fold today and let me know how it turns out! Now go and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

unbounded beauty diagonal gate fold card

unbounded beauty diagonal gate fold card

Gate Fold cards are pretty cool and there are so many variations! This one is called a diagonal gate fold card and I used the Unbounded Beauty Designer Series Paper to make this one!
One of the things I absolutely LOVE about our designer series paper (besides the fact that is the most gorgeous paper made) is that the A and B sides coordinate so well! Check out today’s project to see how easy things come together!

Measurements:
BASE: Petunia Pop 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ piece,
3″ x 4″ for front sentiment matte
Designer Series Paper: 5 1/4″ x 12″
scored at 2″, 4″, 8″ and 10″
2 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ for front layer
Basic White scrap for sentiment die

Score the DSP at 2″, 4″, 8″, and 10″. Fold into a mountain fold at 2″, valley fold at 4″ and 8″ and mountain fold at 10″.
Focal piece

On the two side panels mark lightly with a pencil at 2″ from the top of the DSP on each side.
Place the 2″ pencil mark into the cutting track and angle the paper so the first score line is also in the track and cut a diagonal line from pencil mark to top of the paper at the score line.
Do this on each side.
Save the triangle pieces.
The top of the gate fold will show the exposed backside of the second panels where the triangular piece was cut away – it will look like this.
Switch the triangles and adhere to the opposite bottom corners.
Adhere the DSP piece to the Petunia Pop 1/4 sheet of cardstock as the base, making sure that the edges are an even amount.
Adhere the small DSP rectangle to the 3″ x 4″ petunia Pop cardstock matte.
From a Basic White cardstock scrap cut a die from the Unbounded Love die set and choose a sentiment (the sentiments from the coordinating set are awesome but I used a sentiment from Something Fancy because I have a niece graduating from Georgetown with a dual MBA and Law degree and this was made specifically for her! I also used the hatchmark image from the Spotlight on Nature for the edging of the sentiment piece then popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and placed it in the center of the DSP focal piece.
Place adhesive only on the back of the left hand side (if you adhere both sides the card will not open!)
Adhere to the center of the left hand panel.
I decided to add a pocket on the inside for a gift card or cash for the graduate!
I cut a scrap of Petunia Pop to 2″ x 3 7/8″ and adhered Tear-n-Tape to both sides and bottom.
I adhered the pocket to the bottom of the inside middle panel!
I took a scrap of the unbounded Love DSP and fussy cut the flowers from that small piece (use them all even the half flowers use them on the edges of the paper!)
I added three 2024-2026 In Color Shimmer Gems to add a lovely sparkle for a well deserved celebration!!

Go make some art work of your very own for a happy celebration or just to let someone know that you are thinking of them – one stamp at a time!

more color mondays – petunia pop, summer splash and shy shamrock

more color mondays – petunia pop, summer splash and shy shamrock

This More Color Monday color challenge I wanted to play with some of the new In Colors and I thought it would be fun to show you a little of my creative process.

I knew that I wanted to use the Spotlight on Nature so I stamped and colored with Stampin’ Blends a few of the images from the set. I used the Petunia Pop and Shy Shamrock for the flowers and Petunia Pop and Summer Splash for the butterfly.
I die cut a few of the Spotlight on Nature dies these are awesome concentric circles with different patterns around the rims! I love them!

I cut a couple different card bases and laid out the die cut items on the base to see which I liked – I liked them both it was a difficult choice but I ended up mounting the card with the Shy Shamrock card base.

I added Petunia Pop ribbon to the left-hand side of the card base and adhered the items onto the card.
I added some In Color dots to the finished card.
I set the card out to photograph and I just thought it needed a little more contrast!
So I pulled everything up and added a 2″ piece of embossed Basic White paper to the right-hand side. This is the 3D Swirly embossing folder another larger format EF! I love it!
And I liked the final decision! What do you think?
Sometimes you just need to add a little contrast and sometimes you just need to let it be! 22 years as a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator has given me the confidence to know the difference! Looking for a demonstrator to teach you more about the art of papercrafting – I would love to help you learn!

Now it’s your turn to go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

This fun fold has a bunch of parts and pieces but it is not difficult!

Measurements:
BASE: Petunia Pop CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, scrap for focal point matte
Insert: Petunia Pop 6″ x 4 1/2″ scored at 2″ , 4″
after attaching the DSP
Inside Layer: Petunia Pop 2 1/2″ x 5″
Pool Party: (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″
DSP: (1) 3 3/4″ x 5 “, 2 1/4″ x 4 3/4″
Basic White: scrap for focal point about 2 1/2″
square, 3″ x 3 1/2″ scored at 1 1/2” for back
of insert

Adhere 3 3/4″ x 5″ DSP to the Pool Party layer and run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss with the second largest square die from the Stylish Shapes die set. I used the Petunia Pop die cut as the matte for the swing through portion.
Adhere the layers to the card front and run through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss withe the same die so the hole is in the same spot on all three layers.
Adhere the Pool Party layer to the inside of the card. I laid out the second Petunia pop and DSP layer and decided to place them on the inside of the Pool Party layer so the DSP would be more visible after the insert is attached.
Adhere the DSP to the Petunia Pop layer and adhere to the left-hand side of the Pool Party layer.
Adhere the 4 1/4″ x 5 3/4″ DSP Insert piece to the 4 1/2″ x 6″ Petunia Pop Insert layer.
Score at 2″ and 4″ and fold both layers at the same time.
Place a generous amount of Tear & Tape to the back side of the Insert and adhere to the center right-hand side of the Pool Party inside layer.
Score the Basic White layer in half and adhere to the back side of the insert piece to have a place to write.
Die cut a Basic White square using the middle square from the Stylish Shapes die set and with the Petunia Pop and Mossy Meadow Stampin’ Write Markers color in the petals and leaves of the thistle stamp image. Breathe on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamp on the square in the diagonal position if that is how you die cut the Stylish Shapes shape! (I had to redo mine OOPS I stamped it as a square not a diamond!)
Close the card and place Stampin’ Dimensionals on the Insert that is showing through the Diamond die cut opening.
Adhere the Sentiment diamond to the Petunia Pop diamond and adhere onto the Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added the In Color Dots and after thought I should have used the very pretty Adhesive-backed Pearl Trio – I guess i”ll save those for another card!

Here are some images of the card finished!

Try this fun fold for a special card!
Now go and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!
