beyond the horizon – march 2022 – paper pumpkin cards and alternatives

Last month’s paper pumpkin featured cards in the same style as our very popular New Horizons DSP! The following cards are made from the kit. The first three are made as directed in the kit – all others are alternative projects using the items in the kit and some extra supplies.

These next three are made using the kit’s instructions.

The following cards use parts and pieces from the first card shown above, making alternative projects/cards with the given materials. It is fun to stretch your imagination and think outside the box!
These next cards are alternatives from the parts and pieces of the second card shown above!
The following card is an alternative using some of the parts and pieces from the first and second cards!
The last pictures show the alternative cards from the parts and pieces of the third card shown above!
The next photographs are samples using the envelope papers!
I hope this inspired you to order a paper pumpkin and try your hand at the fun projects – whether following the directions to the tee or going off on your own and making a creation unique to you!

Now go out nd create your own art – one stamp at a time!

so cool – april 2021 paper pumpkin alternative projects 19-16-9-2

so cool – april 2021 paper pumpkin alternative projects 19-16-9-2

April Paper Pumpkin came a little late do to some supply issues – just another COVID interruption – but boy was it worth the wait – it is potentially my favorite paper pumpkin stamp set to date! I love that it coordinates with the Sweet Ice Cream set and Designer Series paper! You are probably wondering about the blog post title – what in the world is the 19-16-9-2?
Well this paper pumpkin kit makes 12 cards – 3 each of 4 designs IF you follow the directions and make the cards exactly as is…but there are many demonstrators (including myself) that take the opportunity each month to show everyone just how versatile these kits can be. I made one of each of the 4 original kit designs and then I went to work creating my own works of art and came up with 19 – 3 x 3 cards using the stickers in the kit, 16 full size cards using mainly the kit components (including the 4 original designs) , 9 cards using paper that I made and the stamps included in the kit and 2 scrapbooking pages (a 12″x12″ and an 8 1/2″x11″!) PHEW!  That is a total of 44 cards and 2  double page layout scrapbooking pages!

Here are the four pre-designed original shape cards from the kit:

Using the 2 sticker sheets that came in the kit – I cut 12″x12″ cardstock into 3″x 6″ pieces scored at 3″ to make 8 cards from one sheet of 12″x12″ cardstock. I used my blender brushes and matching shades of ink to create a subtle colored background on the cardfront. I adhered the stickers and stamped sentiments and viola – easy cards to attach to a gift/gift bag or a lunchbox note or a million other ways to use these adorable 3″ x 3″ cards!
Next I cut most of the cards in half and mounted the shape cards onto full sized cards and added sentiments and sequins! I colored the plain card backs with ink and distressed them with water droplets.
Finally I created paper to mimic the backgrounds of the popsicles – I used my blending brushes and covered an 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock with Mambo Melon ink, Gorgeous Grape ink, and Pacific Point ink, overlapping the colors. I took an old toothbrush and a small cup of water and dripped and splattered the water onto the inked cardstock. The water droplets lift the color and make a great distressed look!
I stamped the popsicle and watermelon image onto the paper I created and created the cards below!
And finally I created two scrapbooking pages – one 12″ x 12″ and one 81/2″ x 11″!

This was such a fun paper pumpkin – I hope this inspired you to go out and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

Happy Stampin’,

I have been a Paper Pumpkin subscriber and fan for many years now!  This subscription service provides a creativity project completely boxed up and delivered to your doorstep once a month or every once in a while – your choice!  You can do the kit exactly as is and follow the full color brochure of instructions or watch the video above that is posted monthly or go off on your own and create away!

These first three images are the cards that are designed for the kit you can make 9 cards three of each design. What is a great deal for $22 and you get an acrylic block on your first order and a stamp set and Stampin’ Spot with every order to reuse again and again! great for beginners and every month I will post alternative projects  – today I will post a total of 17 ideas and will end up making 40 cards from this kit! An even more amazing deal and now I have plenty of sympathy cards which unfortunately I have been in need of more these days.

I accidently did this one on the Mossy Meadow base card instead of the Rococco Rose base, so I already started going my own way!  I actually like it better on the Mossy Meadow!

These next images are alternative projects I added Basic White Cardstock and a couple of different ribbons and more quadrupled my card total! I also cut apart my envelopes to use the DSP liners so I will need 40 basic white envelopes to complete the cards.

The cards that come in the kit are colored front and back so I cut the Mossy Meadow card base to 4′ x 5 1/4″ and layered onto a Basic white Card base and added the gold foil and sentiment – Easy! Save the 1/4″ strips I use those too!

I used the envelope dsp by cutting the sides off the envelopes and opening it up and cutting the DSP into strips and triangles. Here I used a 1″ strip of the Bumble Bee DSP and a small accent of the 1/4 ” strip from one of the cut card bases. I stamped the sentiment on a Basic White scrap and embellished behind the words with the black sticker word die cuts in French and german that i knew I would not use! I added a few black sequins from the kit and some Bumble Bee Ribbon and another card complete!

Staring with a Basic White card base – I cut the Rococco Rose card base into 2 – 4″ x 5 1/4″ pieces and adhered that to the card base.  I used one die cut flower an edge of the vellum and popped up my sentiment.  Added a few sequins and an easy card!

I cut all four sides off of the vellum piece and used the two long sides to border a 2″ strip of Basic White cardstock offset the sentiment and added a few stamped images from the set, some Fine Art Ribbon and sequins to finish it off!

Using the vellum that I trimmed, I added the sticker Thinking of you sentiment – stretched my flower by cutting it in half and adding it to the top and bottom of the sentiment image and the card is done!

After cutting the Merry Merlot card base into 2 pieces of 4″ x 5 1/4″ – I cut the one piece in half again to 2″ x 5 1/4″ and used it on the following two cards! I cut the gold foil embellishment in half and used one on each card and added a sentiment. This first card is on Basic White card stock with a Fine Art ribbon added.

Most of the same ingredients as the card before but by cust adding a coordinating layer underneath it totally changes the look of the card!

A Rococco Rose mat with the bouquet embellishment and a sentiment popped up on dimensionals with a few black sequins!

The next two cards I had fun playing with the smaller parts and pieces leftover!  It is a great creative exercise to expand you mind and creativity!

The next two cards are using pieces of the envelope DSP this first one uses the DSP from the envelope flap cut into a triangle and then in half for smaller triangles – I made several of this pattern!

This card I used the Banner Triple Punch to cut the ends of differnet widths of DSP – added a sentiment on a 2″ Circle punch and one black sequins and another easy card done!

I used a 3″ piece of envelope DSP and a bouquet embellishment popped up on dimensionals. I also popped up the sentiment and added several sequins!

I lined the 3″ piece of Rococco Rose DSP with the 1/4″ strips from the base card (see nothing goes to waste!) and popped a sentiment for a sweet soothing sympathy card.

Probably the easiest of the alternative projects and my favorite after chopping off the two sides of the vellum I added the black sticker die cut and a few sequins! If you like this set and these projects and do not already subscribe to Paper Pumpkin – this kit is available to order until the 10th of this month.  If there are left overs they will appear on the customer odering page after the 23rd of this month but if you need sympathy and thinking of you cards this is a great set and there are no guarantees they will be available after the 10th!  I have several links to my paper pumpkin page on the website – just click on the link below and start creating today!
