more color mondays – orchid oasis, coastal cabana, and lemon lime twist

Today’s More Color Monday has a tropical vibe featuring Orchid Oasis, Coastal Cabana and lemon Lime Twist! I am just returning to reality after spending a week down in the US and British Virgin Islands with my husband and I wanted to continue with Tropical colors for just a smig longer! Do you blame me lol!

Today’s card is a very cool fun fold called a Tunnel card consisting of a base and inside layer. The inside layer has a die cut in the center and folds outward to create a “tunnel” effect so you peer through it to see the stamped images on the back of the base card!

Measurements:
Base: Coastal Cabana 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Lemon Lime Twist layer: 5 1/4″ x 8 1/4″
scored at 2 1/16″, 4 1/8″, and 6 3/16″
Orchid Oasis front layers: 4″ x 5 1/4″,
2 1/4″ x 3 1/4′
Lemon Lime Twist front layer: 3 3/4″ x 5″
scraps of all three colors for die cuts

Take base layer and score at 4 1/4″
Score at 2 1/6″, 4 1/8″ and 6 3/16″.

Pick a sentiment for your card front I choose one from the new set Delicate Forest and I stamped it in Versamark ink onto an appropriately sized die cut, I choose one of the new Perennial postage dies. Then I sprinkled the white embossing powder from the Basics Embossing powders pack and heat set it with my heat tool.
I took a water painter and dipped it into the Orchid Oasis ink and slicked ink from the brush tip onto the sentiment die cut for some depth and dimension.
I took a water painter and dipped it into the Whisper White ink and slicked ink from the brush tip onto the sentiment die cut for some depth and dimension.
I die cut the middle panel of the inner Lemon Lime Twist piece with the second to the largest die from Perennial Postage die set and saved that piece for the card front.
I die cut several pieces of the long leaf strand from the Notes of Nature die set in lemon Lime Twist and adhered them in opposite directions to the side panels. Cut off the overhanging die.
Die cut each of the smaller leaf dies from the Notes of Nature die set in all the three colors of cardstock and adhere them to the inside of the opening of the middle panel.
Stamp the inside sentiment and three tall stemmed images from the Delicate Forest in Coastal Cabana in the center of the card base before folding the score line. Fold the score lines with a bone folder of the Lemon Lime Twist inside layer and adhere the right hand panel to the inside back of the card base leaving an even border on top bottom and right-hand side.
Place adhesive on the left outside panel of the Lemon Lime twist layer and close the Coastal Cabana card front over the inside layer and adhere.
The inside panel should look like the tunnel in this photo.
Take the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Orchid Oasis layer and cut with the largest Perennial Postage die and then emboss with the Distressed Brick 3D embossing Folder.
Die cut the Lemon Lime 3 3/4″ x 5″ layer with the second largest Perennial Postage die and add the remaining long stem die cuts from the Notes of Nature die set on top.
Adhere the Lemon Lime Twist layer onto the Orchid Oasis layer and then add die cuts to the sentiment piece to your liking and adhere to the top portion of the Lemon Lime layer as shown in the photo below.
Adhere the sentiment layers to the card front.
Add embellishments to the inside of the card any of our flat embellishments will do nicely like the Iridescent Adhesive Backed discs.
Add the embellishments to the card front.
Here is another sample using the same colors and stamping from the Delicate Forest instead of all the dies and embossing on the sides and front!
Try this color combination and let me know what you come up with or post it in today’s facebook post in the comment section for all to see!

Try this tunnel card it is so much fun! Go and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

heartfelt hexagon window card

heartfelt hexagon window card

Today will be a very fun day and this is one of the fun projects you will be able to do if you are local and coming to visit me between 1-3pm at my New Catalog Open House. This bundle was made available early on-line because it was used in an on-line stamping day but it is one of the new bundles available in the January to April 2024 Mini Catalog! (and there is a FREE set you can earn during Sale-a-bration that coordinates with the punch HOW FUN IS THAT!!)
One of the best things I like about punches is that they can do so many fun things and cutting out a peek through window is one of those things and the one use I will be highlighting in this blog post!

Measurements:
Orchid Oasis: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
1/2″ strips of:
Bubble Bath
Flirty Flamingo
Lemon Lime Twist
Coastal Cabana
Orchid Oasis
Basic White layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed and
punched

Slide the Hexagon punch onto the Basic White layer from the top of the 4 1/4″ side and punch out the hexagon shape.
Place the punched layer into the Painted Posies 3D embossing folder and emboss the image around the punched window.
Cut at least one 1/2″ strip of each of the colored cardstock in Bubble Bath, Flirty Flamingo, Lemon Lime Twist, Coastal Cabana, and Orchid Oasis.
Place adhesive closely around the punched out window on the back side.
Layer one strip butting up next to the next strip and lay down onto the adhesive above and below the punched out window opening.

Place the Basic White layer embossing side up on a Stampin’ Pierce mat and stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink, one of the sentiments from the Heartfelt Hexagon Bundle. Press firmly as you are stamping on multiple pieces of cardstock layered next to one another and not a single sheet of cardstock.

Tie a length of Orchid Oasis Metallic Woven ribbon in a knot around the Basic White embossed layer. Pop up this layer on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere to the Orchid Oasis cardstock base.

One of the coolest things about this Metallic Woven ribbon is you can pull it gently to create a pattern within the ribbon or pull it all the way to create loose singular threads at the end – I used both techniques on the edges of this ribbon. I placed a small patch of adhesive down under the ribbon to keep the pulled design intact!
I added five 2022-2024 In Color Pearls in coordinating Orchid Oasis to complete the card with a little coordinating bling – LOVE that about Stampin’ Up!

Hope to see you this afternoon and help you make this card! Come and create a little artwork of your very own – one new stamp at a time!!!

out of the box stamping

out of the box stamping

Using a stamp in an unexpected way is so much fun. Many times the abstract stamps in a stamp set can be used in multiple ways! Today I am using the “hill” stamp as a swath of color being “painted” from the paint brush from the Trusty Tools stamp set.

Measurements:
Bases: Azure Afternoon 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Lemon Lime Twist 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Crushed Curry 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Layer: Basic Black 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″
Azure Afternoon 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
Berry Burst 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White (3) 4″ x 5 1/4″
3 3/4″ x 5″

On a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer stamp multiple paint brushes in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Using the hill image from the Hills of Tuscany stamp set I stamped in colors of Rainbow order:
Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel and Gorgeous Grape ink. Cleaning the stamp in between colors.
Using tghe light version of the corresponding Stampin’ Blends and Highland Heather for the Gorgeous Grape color, I colored the tips of the paint brush to make the brush look as if it was just dipped into that color paint.
Using eh Pecan Pie Light and Dark stampin’ Blends markers I first colored the brush handle with the Light marker, highlighted with the Dark marker and filled in with the Light marker again to blends the shading.
I stamp ed the words Hip Hip Hooray from the Good Feelings stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and mounted on a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ layer of Basic Black card stock.
I added some Tinsel Gems three pack around the sentiment.
I mounted this layer onto a Basic White cardfront.

Here are some other samples using slightly different colors and backgrounds.

Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry make a background with a sunset vibe!

This next sample uses Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist, Gorgeous Grape and Berry Burst. and is accented with the Adhesive Backed Glitter Sequins.
This last sample uses the same colors as the previous sample with a different sentiment and different colors and sizes of cardstock. Isn’t it amazing how the look of the card changes with just those simple changes!

Try to look through your stamps and see what stamps you have that can be used for some out of the box stamping! Go and create some unique projects of your very own – one stamp at a time!
