graceful evergreen deer hot foil card

graceful evergreen deer hot foil card

The Graceful Evergreen Deer Hot Foil Bundle caught my eye during the pre-release and I just knew it would make beautiful and elegant Christmas cards! I combined it with Silver and Red foil and the Magical Christmas Hot Foil dies and created this easy Christmas card!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, scraps for hot foiling

Let me take you through the Hot Foil System Instructions first.

Plug in the machine and press the White Button – the platform takes a while to heat up – so be patient and wait for the first beep!

When the platform beeps press the white button and play the hot foil dies on the platform.
The platform will beep a last time and the lights will all be lit – when the green light is on you are ready!

Place the foil cut off the rolls sized enough to cover the dies shiny side down over the dies.

Then add the paper over the foil.

Then cover with the Hot Foil Shim and the Hot Foil Spacer in that order.

Unplug the system and roll through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine VERY SLOWLY. You want ample time for the foil to contact with the paper and transfer!
Remove from the machine I roll through forwards and backwards and then remove the foil from the paper and die cut your beautiful deer out using the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine with the BASE plate #1, the Small die adaptor p[late #2 and sandwich the paper and the cutting dies inbetween 2 Cutting Plates #3s.

I also placed the Shining Stars smallest star dies on the paper after cutting the deer for absolutely NO FOIL went to waste!

I also plugged the Hot Foil System back in and redid the steps with the reverse Hot Foil Plate. Because this is such a large plate to heat up I deviate from the original instructions here and place the Reverse Hot Foil Plate on the platform immediately after plugging it in to give it extra time to heat up all that metal!
When the platform beeps press the white button and the yellow button will start blinking allow this extra time to heat up the die.

Press the white button after the second beep and the lights will all be on red-yellow and green and start to build your sandwich, Foil shiny side down, cardstock, shim and spacer!

Now I had plenty of Hot Foil Dies to build my Christmas cards both the regular and reverse images! Regular images photographed on the left and reverse images are on the right side!
Now to build an easy Christmas card background for my hot foil dies to shine!

I used the stamps from this bundle and made two masks by stamping directly on my grid paper and cutting them out close to the stamped images.

I stamped two smaller trees in Granny Apple Green ink on the card front.
Covered one of the trees with a mask.
I stamped the larger trees in Shaded Spruce ink both full strength and stamping off to create some color variation and depth.
I added my word Hot Foil Dies from the Magical Christmas Hot Foil Dies.
Added red foil stars from the Magical Christmas Hot Foil dies and Shining Stars dies.
Added the gorgeous deer die.
And finished the card off with the awesome Christmas embellishments Real Red and White Adhesive-backed Peppermints!

Such a fun Christmas card and the Hot Foil dies make it so elegant!

garden silhouette blended hot foil card

garden silhouette blended hot foil card

So the other week when I was playing with my new Stampin’ Hot Foil System I ended up with a sheet of Garden Silhouette regular hot foil and played with the blending brushes to color in this gorgeous silver edged floral design!

Measurements:
BASE: Berry Burst CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″, 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ strip,
Basic White CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″, 4″ x 5 1/4″scraps for
the reverse foiling and sentiment piece

I grabbed Berry Burst, Crushed Curry and Granny Apple Green ink pads and three corresponding blending brushes and colored in the large blooms with Berry Burst, smaller blooms in Crushed Curry and the leaves in Granny Apple Green. I cut the layer down to 4″ x 5 1/4″ and save on of the longer strips to decorate the inside.
I adhered the blended layer to the Berry Burst card base.
I adhered the 1/4″ strip across the card.
I blended the three ink colors over the sentiment piece – the sentiment comes from the Scalloped blooms stamp set.

I popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered it over the 1/4″ strip.

I tucked two of the extra reverse Garden Silhouette Hot foil cut outs from Fridays card under the sentiment for some added depth and dimension.
Here is the inside of the card.
I added three Rhinestone Basic Jewels to coordinate with the silver foiling to finish off the card with a matching sparkle!

Try a blended background on one of your creations soon – now it’s your turn to create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

reverse hot foiling

reverse hot foiling

I HATE WASTE! That is one of my pet peeves and before Stampin’ Up!~ introduced our NEW Stampin’ Hot Foil System – I had never done any foiling. Being new to the process I thought I was going to hate using only a fraction of the foil and having to throw it away mostly unused BUT…I didn’t know about the process of Reverse Foiling and it is SOOOOO COOL!

Not only can you use the same piece of foil twice but you can make double the projects!
I was so excited when I learned about reverse foiling and today I am going to show you the cards I made with some of the foil I saved from my first blog post on July 17th!

I saved the foils from the Sweetly Sentimental hot foil dies and the Butterfly Flight Hot Foil dies that made this card below! You will see that the butterflies are gold outlined and not foiled on the inside. When you reverse foil you take the same piece of foil so that the hot foil image will be totally reversed!

Turn the machine on the white on button will light up and the red light will blink while heating up – once the plate heats to temperature it will beep and you will place the foil directly onto the plate surface.

(The foil in this picture is one that folded on itself during the process and is just being used here for the photos as I forgot to photograph the actual foil!)

Place the cardstock over the foil.
I am using the large flat surface on the back side of the Garden Silhouette Hot Foil die but the NEW Hot Foil release Available to customers on September 1st has a Reverse Plate for sale that is made for this purpose! Place the flat side down on the the surface over the cardstock and press the white button. The yellow light will start to flash. This is heating up the die plate and will take 1-2 minutes.

Once this beeps all the lights will be on and you can place the Hot Foil Shim over the die and then the Hot Foil Plate on the top of the sandwich. Unplug and run slowly through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine.

#170043 Reverse Hot Foil Die $27.00 this is flat on both sides and is made solely for the reverse foiling technique.

The Garden Silhouette works for most reverse projects and you get the bonus of a lovely image on one side to use for beautiful cards!
Your choice!
#170041 Garden Silhouette Hot Foil Die $37.00

This is a photo of the Garden Silhouette die hot foiled on Basic White cardstock.
I saved the foil and ran it through with the reverse Hot Foiling technique and this is what the reverse foiling looks like!

(Watch for what I do with the regular Garden Silhouette foiling next week!)

In July I used the Butterfly Flight and Sweetly Sentimental Hot Foil Dies and saved the foil.

I ran both through the machine using the Reverse Hot Foiling Technique and this is what I got!

This is the difference between foiling and reverse foiling with the Sweetly Sentimental bundle.
Both bundles come with cutting dies and I ran them through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine to cut out the foiled images and words – I also used all the extra foiled paper for the smaller double butterfly die.
Measurements:
BASE: Basic white CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″ for foiling,
(1) 4″ x 5 1/4″ for embossing

I embossed one of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ layers with the Fern & Flora 3D embossing folder and adhered it to the Basic White Base card for a great white on white background.

I adhered two of the larger reverse Butterflies and four of the smaller dies to the card along with the Sweetly Sentimental sentiment die in the middle popping up everything on Stampin’ Dimensionals except the four small butterflies.

I added three gold Adhesive-Backed Metallic Gems to finish off this stunning card!
Measurement for Card #2
BASE: Basic White CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, 4″ x 5 1/4″, 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″

I used the reverse Garden Silhouette hot foil in silver and cut the individual flowers out.

I embossed the 4″ layer with the Forever Plaid embossing folder and adhered it to the card base. I layered the flowers some popped up and some tucked behind and added a Classic Greetings hot foil sentiment underneath the bouquet. I added Basic Rhinestone Jewels and finished off this bonus reverse card.

Have you had the opportunity to see it – I will be demonstrating it at my August Studio Stamp-a-Stack on August 24th. Come and stamp with us and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!
