overlapping masks

overlapping masks

Foursquare Decorative Masks is a delightful set of four different patterns of masks.

Masks are great for creating backgrounds.

Moving the mask around creates an even more spectacular background.

Measurements:
BASE: Gorgeous Grape CS
5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4
Basic White CS Layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
scraps: for sentiment and banners

Place the decorative mask on the Basic White layer. Using a Blending Brush, and an Azure Afternoon ink in a circular motion apply the ink.
Move the decorative mask to cover the current ink spots.
Add Coastal Cabana ink to the next spots.

Add Lemon Lime Twist to another section.

Move the decorative mask to reveal clean spaces. Add Gorgeous Grape ink to the paper.
This is the finished product of the overlapping decorative mask.
Add Stampin’ Seal to the upper back of the layer and adhere the 2022- 2024 In Color Baker’s Twine Pack in Lemon Lime Twist. Add four small banners and fold over the edges over the twine. Adhere the decorative mask layer to the Gorgeous Grape CS base.
Using a 1/2″ strip, stamp in Gorgeous Grape the Happy Birthday stamp from the Something Fancy stamp set. Add color with a Blending Brush and Lemon Lime Twist ink. Punch a banner edge with the Banners Pick a Punch to one edge. Add Stampin’ Dimensionals on the backside and add to the lower half of the card.
Add the small flower stamp from the Timeless Arrangements stamp set in each color on each banner.
Add three Ombre Matte Decorative Dots around the sentiment piece.

Try this technique of the Overlapping Masks technique, and make a creation of your own art! One mask placement and one stamp at a time!

Well it’s Monday and that means it is time for a color challenge – want to play along go to Facebook at http://www.Facebook.com/nataliegramley and find today’s post and upload your version of the color challenge in the comments section!

Today’s color challenge features Granny Apple Green, Gorgeous Grape and Highland Heather – I personally LOVE this color combo and the set that I am using is called Two Toned Flora it is a two step stamping set.

Two Step Stamping… It simply means using two or more stamps to create one image. Doesn’t matter if it is two, three, eighteen – it’s all two step stamping. This floral set creates an amazing image with depth and dimension to the flower as you add the second stamp.
See photo number one for the difference between the initial stamp and after adding the two step stamp.

First stamp the flower base image with the Highland Heather. Then overlay the second “detailed” flower stamp over the first stamped image and stamp with the darker Gorgeous Grape ink. The effect is stunning! The flower just pops!

Measurements:
BASE: Granny Apple Green 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Basic white: 4″ x 5 1/4″ scrap for flowers
Gorgeous grape scrap for sentiment

Stamp the leaf sprigs image in Granny Apple Green on the Basic White layer.
Using a Gorgeous Grape scrap stamp in Gorgeous Grape ink the sentiment from the Timeless Arrangements stamp set and die cut with the Deckle Rectangles die set.
Then stamp the smaller floral image on the left hand edge of the sentiment piece.
Two step stamp and die cut multiple flower images and layer onto the Basic White cardstock layer. I popped up two of the flowers on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere the sentiment piece in between the floral images and adhere the basic White layer to the Granny Apple Green card base.
Adhere the Glossy Dots assortment to the card and you are complete! Love the way these two step stamped flowers pop on the card.

Try your hand at two step stamping today and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!
