more color mondays – secret sea, boho blue and cloud cover

Today’s More Color Mondays color challenge is all about something old and something new – all in hues of blue! The 2023-2025 In Colors are making their last appearance and taking their final bows and going quickly as of writing this yesterday the Boho Blue ink, cardstock and refills, Pebbled Path cardstock and refill and Wild Wheat cardstock and refill are all SOLD OUT the rest are availabel while supplies last!

I am combining them with two debuting colors from the 2025-2027 In Colors collection: Secret Sea and Cloud Cover!

Also debuting on May 6 is a gorgeous new suite called Beautiful Gallery. The 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper steals the show with art gallery inspired painted and sketched designs.

Measurements:
BASE: Secret Sea CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/2″
Boho Blue CS: (2) 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
scrap for sentiment banner matte
Cloud Cover CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White CS: 2″ x 5 1/5″ and
scrap for the sentiment piece
DSP: 6″ x 6″

I embossed the Cloud Cover layer in the beautiful new Damask Designs embossing folder and adhered it to one of the Boho Blue layers.
Base your cuts of the 6″ x 6″ DSP on the composition of the painting. You want to cut 3/4″ off of one end to make it 6″ x 5 1/4″ and then cut it into 2 pieces 2″ and 4″ basing the 4″ piece as the front of your finished card.

I cut the 2″ piece down to 1 1/4″ x 5″ as I wanted a little embossed layer border the entire way around the DSP layer.

Adhere the 2″ x 5″ DSP piece on the right-hand side of the embossed layer.

I used a 2″ x 4″ scrap piece of Basic White CS for the left-hand side of the embossed layer and stamped a sentiment from the Beautiful Motifs stamp set in Secret Sea ink – this is a beautiful deep misty navy quite different from our Night of Navy. I adhered it to the side of the DSP.
Adhere this embossed layer to the inside of the z-fold card.
Take the top portion of the 6″ x 6″ DSP piece that you initially cut off and cut it down to 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ and adhere to the 2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White CS to the middle. Adhere this piece to the middle layer of the z-fold card.
Take the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP and adhere it to the second layer of Boho Blue CS then place adhesive on the front panel of the z-fold and attach this layer so that the top, left-hand side and bottom are equally aligned to the front z-fold panel.
Using the back side of this DSP scrap stamp a “just a note” sentiment onto the scrap in Secret Sea ink and cut a banner edge on the right-hand edge. Adhere to a scrap piece of Boho Blue CS and cut a banner edge on the right-hand side to match the DSP banner edge.
Pop up the sentiment piece onto Stampin’ DImensionals and place in the upper left-hand corner of the card front or elsewhere depending on the DSP composition you choose.
I added five new In Color embellishments in Cloud Cover and Secret sea to the card front there are also embellishments which are part of this Beautiful Gallery suite called Pressed Flower motifs and they would have gone nicely with this project as well. All of this will be available to customers in early May! Love it and want to have it now? Join my team and you are able to order it in the pre-order period!

I love the way that extended Z-fold fun fold cards look like a normal card but surprise you when they are opened!

More Color Monday’s blog post features an upcoming masculine style aerial suite called Take to the Sky Suite Collection and this sneak peek is filled with rich regal colors of Copper Clay and Night of Navy paired with our Boho Blue In Color. This suite includes stamps and coordinating dies, fabulous Designer Series paper in hues of Boho Blue, Copper Clay, Mossy Meadow, Night of Navy and Smoky Slate.

Today’s card tutorial will give you all the details to make an extended book bind Z-fold card perfect for the guy in your life or an flying enthusiast!

Measurements:
BASE: Copper Clay CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″
scraps for the plane dies
(1) 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″
Boho Blue layer: 2″ x 4″
Basic White layers: (1) 3″ x 4″ and (1) 4″ square
scraps for the plane dies and banner
DSP: (2) 1″ x 4″ pieces

Score the base at 2 1/8″, 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″
place glue between the score lines at 4 1/4″ and 5 1/2″ and secure making a book bind fold.
Stamp the industrial metal riveted stamp image in Night of Navy ink onto the Boho Blue layer. I stamped in opposite corners.
Adhere the Boho Blue CS layer to the inside middle panel.
Adhere the 4″ square to the back inside of the card base.
Adhere one of the DSP 1″ strips to the right hand side of the 4″ Basic White CS square.
I stamped the smaller airplane image and the You’re the Best Plane and Simple sentiment in Copper Clay ink to the inside Basic White layer.
Fold back the first panel towards the book bind panel on the left hand side of the card base.
Place Tear & Tape strips on the top of the layer that was turned to the left (this was the inside of the card but when it was folded back on itself it is now on the outside of the card base)
Adhere the Copper Clay layer with the left hand edges matching up to the panel with the Tear & Tape on it. This will extend the Z Fold.
Stamp the cloud image in Boho Blue ink onto the Basic White 3″ x 4″ layer and adhere to the extended Z fold Copper Clay layer just added to the card front.
Die cut the plane image in Copper Clay and Basic White and die cut in Copper Clay the propellers and the tail piece for the banner. Die cut the banner in Basic White CS and stamp in Night of Navy ink the to my friend sentiment.
Take the Paper Snips and cut a straight line from the V to 1/4″ – 1/8″ before the To word in the sentiment and cut a banner edge to shorten the die cut to the size of the sentiment.
Glue together the plane die cut pieces.
Adhere the propellor pieces to the nose of the die cut plane and add the tail piece to the banner.
Adhere the plane die cut to the card front. Make sure that the edges of the plane and the banner do not extend past the edges of the card when closed so it will fit into an envelope.
Add Industrial Trinkets to the card front.
This fun fold will stand on it’s own for display! How fun is this!!

extended z-fold card

extended z-fold card

Today’s blog post is all about a fun fold called the extended z fold. It’s a great card that shows off the beautiful Sale-a-bration Designer Series Paper called Most Adorned 12″ x 12″ DSP.

Measurements:
BASE: Flirty Flamingo CS 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 1 1/4″ and 5 1/2″
DSP: 1″ x 4″, 1 1/2″ x 4″, 4″ square
scrap for sentiments

Fold card in half at 5 1/2″ score line. Fold the score line backwards at the 1 1/2″ score line.
Adhere the 1″ DSP to the 1 1/4″ flap.
In the first sample I used the brayer and colored the foiled side of the 1″ DSP.
Adhere the 1 1/2″ DSP to the left hand edge of the card leaving an even border around the top bottom and right hand edge.
Place tape on the inside of the front flap. Place the 4″ square of DSP on the left side of the score line – close the flap adhering the 4″ square to the backside of the flap.
Stamp a 1/4″ strip with the sentiment in Real Red ink. Rub the strip with a Blending Brush. Adhere it to the circle die from the Everyday Essentials and add Real Red card stock heart dies to the circle.
Adhere the sentiment piece hanging over the flap.
Adhere three Adhesive-Backed Milky Dots to the sentiment piece.
The DSP piece attached to the underside of the flap extends the card while it is open to over 14 inches but it still fits into a regular envelope when closed.

The Most Adorned DSP is FREE with every order of $50 subtotal – it contains a foiled side of gold and white and the other side features patterns of hearts and plaids in Flirty Flamingo and Real Red. So many possibilities in using every side! Here is a second version!

Try this extended z-fold soon and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!
