what to do with designer series paper with two gorgeous sides – make a dsp flip card

Have you ever loved both sides of your designer series paper and feel like it’s a crying shame to adhere one lovely side down and doom it to never be seen by your cards recipient? It’s just not fair to the side that loses the eenie-meenie-miney-mo excerise, right?

I have an answer for that very situation we all find ourselves in occasionally (ok – alot more than occasionally for me anyway LOL!)

Let’s make a DSP flip card!

Measurements:
6 x 6 piece of DSP
cut at 3/4″ to make one piece of 6″ x 3/4″
turn the paper 90 degrees and cut at
4″ x 5 1/4″, cut 2 pieces at 1″ x 5 1/4″
Coordinated cardstock: 5 1/2 square
scored at 4 1/4.
Basic White Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Place two lines of Stampin’ Seal + (#152812) on the inside of the 1 1/4″ flap of the cardbase.
Lay the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP on the inside back of the cardbase so that there is an even 1/8″ border the entire way around the DSP, close the flap and rub to make the Stampin’ Seal + adhere to the DSP.
Adhere the Basic White cardstock (#159276) to the inside back of the card stock base. Adhere the other 1″ piece to the edge of the Basic White cardstock layer. I colored in a flower from the Happiness Abounds stamp set (#159238) to add to the inside of the DSP card front. I stamped a sentiment in Orchid Oasis ink (#159214) onto a Stylish Shapes die cut (#159183) and popped it up onto Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) on the card front and added Iridescent Rhinestones to finish off with a little bling!
Hope this easy card inspires you to go use that beautiful paper – both sides!!!

Go create some beautiful art of you own – one stamp and two sides of the paper at a time!

four easy cards from a 6 x 6 designer series paper

four easy cards from a 6 x 6 designer series paper

Do you LOVE fast and easy cards – well then this post is just for you! Start with a 6 x 6 sheet of Designer Series paper. Mark the DSP at 1 1/2 inches rotating it 90 degrees and marking all four sides. The place the diagonal marks in the Stampin’ Up! Trimmer’s (#152392) cutting track and slice a diagonal cut. Keep the paper together and turn 180 degrees and line up the other set of diagonal marks and slice on the opposite diagonal.
Choose four coordinating colors of cardstock and cut four card bases. Here I used Coastal Cabana, Gorgeous Grape, Flirty Flamingo and Fresh Freesia cut at 5 1/2 x 8 1/2 and scored at 4 1/4.
Add one of the sections to the cardfront that coordinates best with the colors of cardstock you picked. Adhere to one of the corners and decorate with a sentiment and an embellishment. Here I used Opal Rounds (#154289) on all the cards. I also used the Stylish Shapes Die set (#159183) for all of the sentiments!
Our gorgeous papers are double sided so do not forget to check out the back to see which side you wish to use! This last card uses the back side of the Hues of Happiness DSP (#158822) that coordinates with the Happiness Abounds Bundle (#158824) which is both the Stamp set and dies together for a 10% savings! The Happiness Abounds Stamp set (#159238) contains beautiful realistic flowers and leaves with sentiments in both print and cursive fonts. It’s Coordinating die set Blossoming Happiness Dies (#158823) cuts all the flower and leaf images as well as three decorative dies for extra card intrique!
Simple – Stamps, Ink and Paper and Easy!
Happy Belated Mother’s Day to all my wonderful stamping friends and customers. I apologize for no posting last week, we had guests in town for my youngest son’s Senior Prom and I had a sinus infection to boot! It was a lovely day for the Prom and great to see all of my son’s friends! The Joys are motherhood – I hope you get to enjoy them daily and were able to send your beautiful cards to those women in your life that matter!

three panel scenery z fold

three panel scenery z fold

New Horizons Designer Series Paper is so gorgeous that it seems a shame to cut it apart at all. The 3 panel scenery card is the perfect way to use this watercolor paper.

Base cardstock: Blackberry Bliss 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″ and 2 1/8″
New Horizons DSP 6″ x 6″ cut at 5 1/4″ at the
bottom
cut into three sections cut at 2 1/16″ and
again at 2 1/16″
Basic White Cardstock 2 1/4″ x 5 1/4″

Stamp onto the DSP.
Score the cardstock in half and half again at
4 1/4″ and 2 1/8″.
Score with a bone folder at both score lines.
Cut the DSP and adher to the first outside panel.
Adhere the second portion onto the middle section.
Adhere the third and fourth section.
Here is another sample with different dimensions.
2 1/8″ 2 1/8″ and Basic White section of 1 1/2″
all 5 1/4″ in length.

The scenic panoramic panels do this DSP justice. Do you have pretty scenic paper like this – try this technique! Hope this inspires you to create some art of your own – one stamp at a time.

twist card – two ways

twist card – two ways

This simple fun fold looks like a normal card but open it up and it twists open for a surprisingly easy fun fold technique!

Measurements:

BASE:
Highland Heather 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
and scored or tic marked at 4 1/4″
Score from the corner to the 4 1/4″ score line or
tic mark depending on the angle of the cut
will determine the position of the twist.
Gorgeous Grape or Basic White layer
4 1/8″ square
DSP or Basic White smaller outside layer
4″ square
Basic White Inside layer: 3 3/4″ x 5″
DSP (2) 1″ x 4″ pieces

I did two versions of this card scoring the diagonal in opposite directions to show you the final twist for each score direction!
If you score the diagonal from the top left corner of the card to the 4 1/4 inch mark in the bottom right hand corner of the card the twist part of the card will be in the top quadrant.
If you score the diagonal from the top right on the 4 1/4″ score mark to the bottom left hand corner the twist portion of the card will be on the bottom portion of the card (it is important to note where the twist portion will be as this will determine how you position the stamping on the inside layer of your card!)
Using a bone folder – fold the diagonal score line.
Layer the 4″ square onto the 4 1/8″ square and adhere only the triangle that will touch the folded triangle. (If you adhere the whole square it will adhere to the base card and not be able to open.
Adhere the 1″ strips of DSP to the inside and outside portions of the card (if your DSP has a pattern make sure that will be right side up when the card if opened)
In the sample above the diagonal is from the bottom left hand corner up to the 4 1/4″ mark and that creates the twist portion of the card to be on the bottom as the card swings open, therefore you will need to add the inside portion of the card with the stamping closest to the 5 1/2″ score mark parallel to the score line!
I added pastel pearls and a heart cut out as an embellishment as a pull tab.
In the sample above the diagonal score line goes from the top left hand corner to the bottom at the 4 1/4″ score mark. This creates a twist at the top of the card so the inside layer is stamped up top closest to the inside scroe mark at the 5 1/2″ mark and parallel to that score line.
I added Pastel Pearls to the outside of this card as well.
I added ribbon and a heart cut out for a pul tab as well on this version.

Hope you love the way this turned out and that it inspires you to go and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

keyhole cutout cards

keyhole cutout cards

A keyhole card is just a card with a die or punch cut out on the front of the card base! There are many versions and almost every punch and die cut can be used.

Measurements:
Striped card:
BASE:
Basic White Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored
at 4 1/4″
Sweet Talk DSP 5 1/4″ x 4″
Scrap Basic Black and Basic White cardstock
for the sentiment piece
Stitched So Sweetly Die set

Heart Card:
BASE:
Basic White Cardstock: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored
at 4 1/4″
Sweet Talk DSP 5 1/4″ x 4″
Scrap Basic Black and Basic White cardstock
for the sentiment piece

For each card put a tiny amount of adhesive on the backside of the DSP and adhere to the cardbase. Punch or die cut the hole out of both layers simultaneously.
Everyday Label Punch

Pull all of the layers apart.
Adhere with Stampin’ Seal all the way around the keyhole opening.
For the heart card I adhered the DSP tot he front of the card and then added the DSP punched out piece back into the keyhole and adhered that piece to the back piece of the card base.
Add ribbon and embellishments to finish off the cards.
On the striped card I added tghe Basic White cardstock into the keyhole opening to protect the inside back base of the card and stamped the Color and Contour flower image on the DSP layer. Remove the stamped white keyhole piece and decorate the rest of the card!
Easy simple and sweet, hope this inspires you to try the keyhole technique! Create some artwork of your own – one stamp at a time!
