You know when you look up in the sky and the clouds seem to curl like thin sheets riding on the wind? I love that ethereal dreamy look of the sky when the clouds are blowing along with the breezes. I think I am dreaming of spring and manifesting it in my card making, LOL!!

These cards are simple to make and can easily be made without the die cut embellishment for a fun beginner stamper or simple stamping card or step it up with a die cut in the foreground!

Measurements:
BASE:
5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
LAYER:
Basic White cardstock
4″ x 5 1/4″
Scrap Basic white and Vellum if adding the mountain die cut.

Cut and score the base card.
Using the Basic White layer stamp the lower half with the Gentle Waves background stamp, I used Balmy Blue ink.

Using the solid mountain die cut or if you do not have this set of dies you can hand cut a mountain range onto a scrap piece of white cardstock or any scrap really – color doesn’t matter. Taking low tack tape or old washi tape secure down the mask with the straight edge covering the top line of the waves stamped on the bottom of the paper.
Using a Blending Brush burnish a thin line of brown ink for the land base of the mountain range here I used Cinnamon Cider.

Flipping the mask so that the straight edge is now just above the top wave of the stamped Gentle Waves Background stamp, I burnished Balmy Blue on the top portion of the water.
Then I burnished with the Blending Brushes, Bermuda Bay onto the bottom portion of the water.

Flip the mask once more so that the mountain range is on the horizon line and with the Blending Brush color the top half of the layer in Bumblebee or another yellow ink.

Add a small circle mask to the card with a glue dot and position it under the mountain range and recolor the area around the circle to highlight the setting sun.

Leaving both masks in place, color the area with Poppy Parade and a Blending Brush.

Repeat with Gorgeous Grape ink on a Blending Brush.
Then remove the sun circle mask and lightly color the sun with the Poppy Parade and Gorgeous Grape.

Remove the mountain range mask and either finish card at this point or to step it up add the vellum and Basic White Cardstock die cuts of the mountain range from the Horizons Dies.

Using the Craft White ink pad, turn the ink – pad side down and smear the very edge of the ink pad across the paper making thin whispy lines across the sky to mimic the thin rolling clouds being blown in the wind!

Add a sentiment – I used the “Hope you find a little paradise wherever you may be” from the Paradise Palms stamp set.

Everytime you do these techniques Blending brushink blending technique and the craft ink direct to paper the results are totally unique – here are some card samples using the same materials but the technique makes them look a little different.
