more color mondays – gorgeous grape, coastal cabana and blueberry bushel

more color mondays – gorgeous grape, coastal cabana and blueberry bushel

Well this week’s More Color Monday is airing on Tuesday! It is 10:30 pm on Monday and I realized that I did not write this blog. This weekend we moved my youngest son into his new apartment to start his Junior year in college and Friday night we received the sad news that my father who had been suffering with dementia for a few years collapsed and passed away while we were in South Carolina. Needless to say this week will be a blur celebrating my father’s life with my family. I had all of this week’s cards designed and photographed just not input so they may come on different days!

Today’s More Color (Tuesday) is a color combination I really like – Gorgeous Grape, Coastal Cabana and Blueberry Bushel! I had to search my past MCM (More Color Mondays) posts because I was SURE that I must have put this great color combination together before but it is a new combination!
I just received the Sketched Butterflies bundle as a recruiting incentive and I am LOVING this stamp and die bundle!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
(2) 4″ x 5 1/4″ layers
Gorgeous Grape scraps for butterfly dies
Coastal Cabana scraps for butterfly dies
Blueberry Bushel scraps for butterfly dies
Basic Black scraps for dies

Using Blending Brushes blend Gorgeous Grape ink onto the bottom third of one of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layers.
Using Blending Brushes blend Coastal Cabana ink onto the middle third of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer right above the Gorgeous Grape blended area.
Using Blending Brushes blend Blueberry Bushel ink onto the top third of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer right above the Coastal Cabana blended area.
(Note in the photo I was rushing and dropped my ink pad onto the finished area OOPS – had to redo the whole blending process on the back-side!)
That is what happens when you rush creativity!!
Here is the finished second version!
Die cut two of the heart dies into the second 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer.
Adhere the heart layer over the blended layer and then mount both onto the card base.
Die cut the heart and the friend outline in black cardstock. Adhere the black heart outline around the lower heart cut out image.
Adhere the friend outline over the upper heart cut out and start to adhere the colored butterfly dies around the outside perimeter of the hearts.
I stamped love you sentiment onto the top of the card in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and add embellishments to the card to complete it!
Such a fun “flighty” card – try this peek through color technique with dies you have on hand. Now go and create some artwork of you very own one stamp at a time.

happy memorial day more color mondays – real red, blueberry bushel and basic white

happy memorial day more color mondays – real red, blueberry bushel and basic white

Happy Memorial Day to all! Especially the military personnel in my own family and yours! In the United States it is a day to remember the fallen heroes as well as those that have and currently are serving our country! I also love that this traditionally marks the start of the summer season for us as well! For my family it signals the start of summer lake season – boating and watersports, family and friends visiting, lots of memories to be made. Personally it is my favorite time of year! This card celebrates all of that with a very fun tri-diamond Z-fold card using the Love This Moment on-line exclusive set as well as the Beach Day Bundle!

Measurements:
BASE: Real Red CS 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″
DSP: (2) 2″ x 5 3/8″ for first panel, and right side of inside of card
Basic White: (4) 2″ x 5 3/8″ for second panel and left side of inside of card, also for back of panels 1 and 2 for writing
Diamonds
2 small size: (2) colored cardstock (CCS)
1 7/8″square
(2) Basic White CS
1 3/4″ square
1 large size: CCS 2 1/2″ square
Basic White 2 3/8″ square
Hinge piece (same color as base CS)
1 3/4″ x 3″ scored at 3/4″, 1 1/2″ and 2 1/4″

Stamp the little star image from the Love This Moment stamp set in Real Red ink on 2 of the 2″ x 5 3/8″ Basic White strips, both small squares and stamp the sentiment on the square turning it into a diamond shape first and then stamping so that the sentiment reads straight across the diamond shape, then stamp stars around the sentiment.
Stamp three of the surf/paddleboard images in Blueberry Bushel ink and fussy cut out.
Mount the three diamond shapes onto the Blueberry Bushel mattes.
Score the base card at 2 1/8″ and 4 1/4″ and fold into a traditional Z-fold. Adhere the DSP onto the first panel and the other DSP secion onto the right side of the third panel leaving the same amount of room about 1/8″ on three sides as the first DSP panel. Adhere the two Basic White stamped panels onto the second panel and the left side of the third panel.
Cut the hinge piece out of the same color card stock as the base and score at 3/4″, 1 1/2″ and 2 1/4″. Place Stampin’ Seal + adhesive on the first and last panels and fold in half and place in the center of the inside just to the right of the 4 1/4″ middle score line of the base card.
FOld the front of the card base closed and rub over the hinge piece to secure the adhesive.
Snip the inside point off of the large diamond and adhere to the top of the hinge piece.
Line up the top point of the first small diamond shape to the top of the card at the score line between the first and second panel. Adhere the left side of the diamond only to the first panel lining up the top and bottom points to the score line.
Line up the bottom point of the second small diamond shape to the bottom of the card at the score line between the first and second panel. Adhere the left side of the diamond only to the first panel lining up the top and bottom points to the score line.
Decorate the diamonds as you choose I added the paddleboards to the diamonds at an angle.
I decided I wanted a little more stamping so I added beach balls by stamping in Blueberry Bushel and adding color with the Real Red Stampin’ Write marker on every other section. I wanted the blue to be a little lighter so I took a Water Painter and watercolored with Blueberry Bushel ink on the other sections and added color the same way to the paddleboards.
I popped up the beach balls onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and added them to each diamond.
I added the white Adhesive-backed Sequins Trio for a little sparkle and this card is complete!

I love celebrating the little everyday moments in life – what is your favorite season, what is your favorite thing about summer?
Celebrate by making something fun and sharing it with someone you love! Go and create some art work of your very own – one stamp at a time!

easter card using the timeless arrangement stamp set

easter card using the timeless arrangement stamp set

One of the perks of being a demonstrator is the Demonstrator Planning Place it is a demonstrator only sharing forum – and this community is among the most giving and sharing population on Earth! I recently saw a home decor frame with a similar technique on this Facebook page and had to try it out for a card.

Measurements:
Basic White CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″

YEP THAT’S IT! This is what you call Simple Stamping! Stamps, Ink, and Paper this is an awesome beginner card that has a WOW feel to it!

Take two pieces of scotch tape and place them perpendicular over one another the top piece about 1/4 of the way down over the bottom piece cut the cross piece to the length desired to make it look like a cross. Place on the card front of the folded Basic White base card.
Pick colors and the floral pieces from the Timeless Arrangements stamp set (#161521) this is retiring and is a great thank you/appreciation/friendship stamp set. If you want it order it as soon as possible using the current hostess code EGCF9KYB as they are WHILE SUPPLIES LAST and I have a feeling this one will sell out! The Timeless Arrangement bundle (#161526) and the dies (#161525) are also on the Last Chance list – the bundle is both the set and the dies for 10% discount.

Start stamping the individual stamps scattering them out over the cross tape piece as if they are peeking out from under the cross!

Continue to use different colors and different stamps until the whole section around the cross is covered. (Be careful not to touch the tape as the ink does not stick and dry so you will get ink on your fingers!)
Carefully remove the tape and wash your hands to remove the ink so as not to transfer onto your card! You are left with an optical illusion where the flower and leaf sprigs appear to be underneath the white cross – this gives the card depth and dimension without layers!!
Stamp a sentiment in the cross piece.
Add embellishments to finish the card with a little bling and you have the perfect Easter card without an Easter stamp set!

Now go and create some artwork of your own – one stamp at a time!

Note I only used the Timeless Arrangements stamp set for this Simple Stamping card but added the bundle and dies in the photos below for your easy ordering reference if you want it all!!

Happy Stampin’ and have a Blessed Easter weekend!

more color mondays – petal pink, fresh freesia and pool party

more color mondays – petal pink, fresh freesia and pool party

I don’t know about you but for me my mind starts to daydream about Spring about this time in January! So today’s More Color Monday is all about blue skies and the Happy Hellos of Springtime with Petal Pink, Fresh Freesia and Pool Party with a healthy splash of Blueberry Bushel for contrast!

Measurements:
BASE: Blueberry Bushel 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Sunny Days DSP 2″ x 4 1/4″
Basic White scrap for sentiment die and mail
box
Pool Party scrap for grass die
Petal Pink scrap for envelope die
Fresh Freesia scrap for heart die

Gather the pieces for this fast and easy color challenge card.
Die cut and emboss the Hello from the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid Embossing Folder in Basic White.
Die cut the grass in Pool Party.
Die cut the heart in Fresh Freesia, and the envelope stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Petal Pink CS and die cut with smaller envelope die.

Using Stampin’ Blends color the mail box in light Petal Pink, the mailbox base in Blueberry Bushel light blend. Using a water painter color the grass in Pool Party ink.

Adhere the 2″ strip of Sale-a-bration Sunny Days DSP to the top edge of the card base.
Pop up the Hello die from the Thoughtful Moments Hybrid embossing folder with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere to the middle right hand side of the card base.
Adhere the grass die in Pool Party CS to the bottom edge of the card front.
Using the edge of your Paper Snips and slice at the left inside outline of the mailbox opening creating a slit for the envelope to tuck into before adhering it to the card (do not put adhesive to the left of the slit mark so you have wiggle room to insert the envelope die into the slit.)
Adhere the colored mail box die cut to the left hand side of the card tucking the bottom just under the grass die so that the stamped grass sticks out in a tuft.
I stamped the I miss you sentiment in the upper right hand corner of the DSP.
And I finished the card off with the very “Springtime” Rainbow Adhesive-Backed Dots in Fresh freesia and Pool Party!
