more color mondays – berry burst, coastal cabana and balmy blue

Have you noticed card sketches in the new Stampin’ Up! 2024-2025 Annual Catalog? I love the new catalog design and all the helpful hints and techniques – to me it seems that it is designed like a crafting magazine and I think this is our best design yet!

I picked out a card sketch for today’s More Color Mondays Color Challenge and the Full of Life Suite with the colors Berry Burst, Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue.

Measurements:
BASE: Coastal Cabana CS 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
DSP: 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
Berry Burst: scraps for die cuts
Coastal Cabana: scraps for die cuts
Balmy Blue: scraps for die cuts

Sketches make putting a card together super easy! SO I picked out a sketch from page 22 in the new catalog – this page describes Basic Card Design! I picked the second to the last one in the bottom row. I cut my paper and a bunch of different die cuts and started to play with the sketch layout. You may notice that I started out with rectangular dies instead of the circles – just because the sketch has circle shapes in the design does NOT mean you have to use circles! This is the true nature of card sketches – they are the starting point, the springboard to get your own creative juices flowing!
In the end I did like the circle dies better for my card but I tried a bunch of combinations before I settled on what is to follow and sometimes that is the creative process!

I used the leaf stamp from the Full of Life stamp set and randomly stamped the leaves in Coastal Cabana ink on Coastal Cabana cardstock for a tone on tone look. (A tip I tell my customers in my classes – most times when I am stamping on an entire blank piece of cardstock I will stamp and look for a triangular pattern. This goes back to a design principle called the rule of thirds/threes this triangular shap is very pleasing to the eye and if you use it – it helps break that daunting empty page into a smaller section and you are only concentrating on where the next stamp is and not about the whole project!
I adhered the DSP to the card base at an angle and cut out the word friend in Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana. I die cut the leaf die in Berry Burst and two circles from the Stylish Shapes die set in Balmy Blue and Berry Burst. I die cut the long sentiment piece in Coastal Cabana and stamped the sentiment on that piece.
I arranged and adhered the circle dies next over the Designer Series Paper layer.
I adhered the leaf die with glue to the upper circle die. I used the leaf as the embellishment – the sketch shows a ribbon and I substituted this die as the embellishment.
I popped up the sentiment piece and placed it in the middle of the two circles as in the sketch.
I layered the word dies together with glue and added them to the card over the Berry Burst lower circle.
I added 5 Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs 4 in the Berry Burst color and one in the blueish tint on the i in the friend word die!
The card is a simple and easy card sketch card!

full of life front flap card

full of life front flap card

I love color – the brighter the better and this Full of Life Designer Series Paper is ALL ME!
This easy Front Flap fun fold card is a super way to show off all that fun Designer Series Paper that we all hoard!

Measurements:
BASE: Coastal Cabana
Card Base: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Front Flap layer: 3 1/2″ x 4 3/4″
Hinge Piece: 1 1/2″ x 5″ scored at 2″
Designer Series Paper:
Inside Right layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Inside Left layer: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ (I did this one in Basic White so I could have a place to write)
Outside layer: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″
Basic White scrap for sentiment die

Score the 1 1/2″ x 5″ hinge piece at 2″ and place a strong adhesive (Stampin’ Seal + or Tear-n-Tape) on the long side and fold at the score line. Put the score line directly on the left edge of the card base in the center and adhere the hinge piece to the inside of the card base.
Place Stampin’ Seal + or Tear-n-Tape on the right side of the top of the hinge piece when it is folded, leaving about a 1/2″ free of adhesive.
Place the front flap piece over the closed hinge piece making sure that the front flap layer is even on all four sides of the base piece.
Adhere the 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP to the inside right of the card base.
Adhere the DSP or in this case the Basic White layer onto the inside left or top of the card depending on the card orientation.
Adhere the 3 1/4″ x 4 1/2″ DSP to the card front.
Using Basic White scraps I die cut a Stylish Shapes circle and stamped the belated birthday sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set in Coastal Cabana ink.
I popped it up on the card front and offset it to the bottom right hand side.
I die cut the Happy Birthday dies from the Wanted to Say die set in Basic White and Coastal Cabana and adhered them to the inside of the card making sure they did not peek out of the card when the front flap was closed.
I added a bunch of Iridescent Pearls to the card, some around the outside so when the card is open you can see them, some on the outside sentiment piece and even one on the Wanted to Say die on the dot for the I!

This is such a fun and easy card to make and shows off all that paper you have! Now go and create some art work of your very own – one stamp at a time!

patchwork pieces dies with upcoming sneak peak

patchwork pieces dies with upcoming sneak peak

While OnStage Houston is over I am still sharing all of the incredible experiences, swaps, swag, and information we received while we were there!

Below is a picture of all the stuff I came home with plus about three times as many swap cards as are in the photo!!

We all got a fabulous backpack and thank goodness or I would not have made it back home! That Peach Pie colored zipper tote is perfect for all the little essentials I need to tote to my classes! We got a new kit with honeycomb embellishments called Hooray for Honeycomb be looking for that to be released with the upcoming catalog! We received a copy of the new catalog before anyone else that was super exciting! We got a paper pumpkin stamp set or grid paper our choice, a new background stamp set and they gave away 6 different upcoming DSP packages in the Prize Patrol.

As we looked at the catalog, my new downline and dear old friend Barb fell in love with the Mediterrean Blooms DSP and I fell in love with the Full of Life suite! I told her that we were going to win those two and on the last day our numbers were called I won the Mediterrean Blooms and gifted it to her and she won the Full of Life and gifted it to me! You should have heard us you would have thought we won the lottery for a million dollars we laughed so hard that we had manifested those two packets!!

Today’s card for this blog post is a little old a little new! I am using the Patchwork pieces – which received my most views ever on Pinterest! See my May 31st 2023 for the cards that currently has over 400 pin clicks and 6500 views!! Thank you to all those that follow me on Pinterest! This fabulous die set will be retiring with the current catalog so if you love this I would recommend ordering it (#161592) using my current hostess code EGCF9KYB – these and all the Last Chance list items are only while supplies last. You can find the Last Chance list and order on my Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator site at https://nataliestamps.stampinup.net

Measurements:
BASE: Berry Burst/Melon Mambo 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Coastal Cabana layer: 3 1/2″ x 5″
scrap for Everyday Details die (this is retiring!)
Basic White layer: 3 1/4″ x 4 3/4″
DSP: 6×6 sheets to die cut

Add Stampin’ Seal directly to the Basic White layer (this will help you keep the DSP straight or adhere directly to the Coastal Cabana layer.

I die cut the patchwork pieces die twice and alternated the pieces with back and front of the same Designer Series Paper.
I made two versions using the left overs from the first card!
I stamped the sentiment in Tuxedo Black memento ink onto a Coastal Cabana Everyday Details circle die. The sentiment is from the In the Moment stamp set (#157987) this is retiring. The Everyday Details dies are also on the Last Chance list (#162864) which I am VERY SAD about!!
Adhere the Coastal Cabana layer to the card base and pop up the sentiment die onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and add to the middle of the patchwork piece die.
Add Iridescent Pearls to the card front to finish off with some stunning embellishments – these are my favorite so versatile. Go with everything and you can even color them to make them coordinate!
So excited to show you the rest of this great DSP paper in the coming weeks but so sad to see these items that are leaving go away!

Now it’s your turn to go and create some art work of your very own – one stamp at a time!

P.S. The Full of Life Suite and DSP will not be available and therefore will not be shown in the ordering icon images below until May 1st!

offset gate fold card with new online exclusive products

offset gate fold card with new online exclusive products

There are some new online exclusive products being released on November 7th that demonstrators were able to pre-order and one of the new bundles is called Garden Meadow! The paper is scenic and gorgeous and I wanted to preview it with a fun fold that would utilize as much of it as I could!

Measurements:
Base: Blueberry Bushel 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
Basic White layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″ for inside
DSP 6″ x 6″ cut at 5 1/4″
then cut at 1 1/4″, 2 1/2″

Score the base cardstock at 1 1/2″ and 5 3/4″
Fold Inward.

Adhere the Basic White layer in the center of the inside of the card.
Cut 3/4″ off the 6″ x 6″ piece of Meandering Garden DSP at the bottom to make the piece 5 1/4″. then looking at the picture cut 1 1/4″ and 2 1/2″ off the 6″ side.

This is how I divided my DSP, I wanted to use the meandering path as a focal point so I cut from the right side of the DSP.

Adhere the 1 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP to the smaller panel on the left. Adhere the 2 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP to the larger panel on the left side of the offset gatefold.
This bundle comes with a gorgeous set of new dies that include a gate and an arch shaped opening among other beautiful dies. I cut the gate from Basic Gray cardstock and adhered it to the bottom on either side of the opening.

The bottle you see in the picture is a fine tip glue bottle that I purchased from Amazon I love this precision tip applicator and I refill the bottles with our Multi Purpose liquid glue!

If you would like the link contact me and I can direct you were to buy it!

I stamped a greeting on the outside small panel as well as an inside the card greeting on the middle panel along with the image of the watering can in Basic Gray ink. I also added the additional scenic panel on the inside right panel of the card – couldn’t waste such pretty paper!
I flipped over the 3/4″ piece I cut off the bottom of the DSP in the beginning and added it to the left hand panel. The itty bitty piece of cardstock at the bottom of the card is the only waste I had from that 6″ x 6″ DSP piece!
I added to flat brass birds from the new embellishments from this online exclusive suite called Adhesive-Backed Dragonflies and Birds!

Since these items are not yet available in the online store for customers you can come back on November 7th and see the links to these products below then!

I will be highlighted some of these products in the upcoming weeks so stay tuned for more product reveals!

Now go and create some art of your very own – maybe an offset gate fold like this card with the items you have in your craft room! One stamp at a time!
