explosion fan fold card

explosion fan fold card

This is a great Christmas gift and easy to make!
This card fans out and explodes into a cute way to display pictures for a loved one or just an extra special card with lots of room for extra sentiments delivered in a fun way!

Measurements:

Cinnamon Cider 8 1/2″ square
Real Red (2) 4 1/8″ square
Basic White (3) 4 1/8″ square
DSP for front 4″ square
Scraps Basic White, Real Red and DSP for stamping and die cutting

Cut a Cinnamon Cider piece of Cardstock to 8 1/2″ square
Score in the middle at 4 1/4″ rotate 90 degrees and score the other side down the middle at 4 1/4″
Score on the diagonal both ways making sure that the pointed edge of the paper is directly in the middle of the cutting track.

Slice the center bottom score line to just below the convergence point of all the score lines in the center of the paper.

Starting with the first score line to the right of the cut fold so the score line raises upward like a mountain, the second score line bend opposite of this folding it into a “valley” fold – alternate mountain and valley folds for 6 folds do not fold the score line within the last square.

As in the photo above lie the un-scored square on the table and bend the first mountain fold down write an UP arrow symbol on the triangle that is lying flat above the square. Do this with the next two mountain folds pull them down onto the square laying on the table and write an UP arrow as shown in the picture. This will give you direction the paper should be facing when you flatten it to decorate it!
Decorate your front cover. I used the real Red square and adhered Gingerbread and Peppermint DSP to the Red piece. I added Stampin’ Seal + to the edges of the top triangle leaving just a little room and not going completely to the edge with the tape as the Real Red cardstock is just slightly smaller then the folded card. Center the top and left hand edges to a 1/16th of the card edge and adhere.
I stamped “Wishing you a Merry Christmas” from the Frosted Gingerbread Stamp set and die cut the sentiment with the Stitched So Sweetly die set. Mounted it in the center of the front cover, Popping it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals and adding some red Holiday Rhinestones and some Real Red and Basic White cardstock die cut with the Gingerbread die set for the peppermint candies.
I then decorated each of the three Basic White Square and adhered them to the squares with the arrows. I added a scrap of Gingerbread and Peppermint DSP, stamped the star cookie in Cinnamon Cider ink and added a few Peppermint candies die cuts to the little page. (you can add a sentiment to one or more of these pages or add a picture to make a super cute scrapbook!
Another page added to the explosion fan fold card attached to the next triangle with the up arrow on it!
Embellish the last square and add the square to the back page.
I tied the card closed with the Real Red Simmer Ribbon and made it long enough to make a bow in the front so that the lucky recipient can open and close this WOW card as often as they like!!
Adhere Stampin’ Seal+ to the back and adhere another red square to the back panel.
The card fans out open and closing for the coolest effect! Her is a picture of the card fully opened!
It is way easier than it looks and you should definitely give it a try!!

interlocking gate fold

interlocking gate fold

Today is the last day for the Seasonal Sale so if you need or want any colors of cardstock, inks or have been wishing for a special die set today is the day! Or tell you husband to call me so we can get you those supplies as a “surprise” Christmas gift – just send me a list before he calls!! LOL The Seasonal Sale is 10% off Cardstock, 15% off inks and 20% off dies.

Today’s tutorial is another gate fold the base is similar to Monday’s card but this card has two opposing “arms” attached to the card to help open up the gates on this fold. It is a fun alternative gatefold card.

Measurements:

Misty Moonlight bas: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 2 1/8″ and fold the other end in to meet the edge in the card center.
Balmy Blue: (2) 2″ x 5 3/8″
Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ for the inside

Side Flaps:
Misty Moonlight: (2) 1 5/8″ x 4″
Basic White (2) 1 1/2″ x 3 7/8″

Cut the side flaps and I die cut the snowflake “cookie” from the Frosted Gingerbread stamp set in the Blue Glitter Ombre paper x2 for the card front embellishments.
Stamp the sentiment on the top flap and stamp the snowflake in Balmy Blue (second generation over the sentiment and full strength on the bottom flap.
Stamp the Balmy Blue front panels with Balmy Blue ink and the snowflakes from the Sparkle of the season stamp set. Adhere to the front panels.
Adhere the flaps after stamping the background images and the sentiment.
Pop up the snowflakes from the Frosted Gingerbread stamp set – the solid snowflake cookie die in the blue piece of Glitter Ombre paper and the “frosting” part of the snowflake die in Basic White. Adhere with Tombo glue and allow to dry before placing on the card.
Add Rhinestone for some bling on the card front and ! How about you!

I hope that you are able to get a little crafting done today – take time to do a little something you love and go out and creat some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

slide lock fun fold card

slide lock fun fold card

So sorry for my prolonged absence – we have had a bunch of things going on — some good — some bad! We started the beginnings of our new home remodel, had a death in the family and my retirement from my “go to” job, now I can start to concentrate again on my “get to” job!! (I heard this last weekend at Stampin’ Up!’s OnStage@Home virtual gathering and I loved it! There are (have to) “go to” jobs and there are jobs that you cannot wait to “get to.” This has always been my “GET TO” job and I cannot wait to be able to spend more time at this job that I love so much!!

This WOW slide lock fun fold card is a lot easier than it looks and definitely will impress!

This is a standard gate fold card with an extra piece that slides onto the card to lock the two side flaps in place!

Measurements:

• Crushed Curry (base): 4 1/4″ x 11″, score at 2 3/4″ on one end and fold trim 1/16″ off of one only
• Regals 6×6 Designer Paper (panels for gatefold base): cut 2 @ 2 1/2″ x 4″. Trim one of these panels 1/16″ to mimic that side of the gate fold.
•Black Cardstock: cut 2 @ 2 5/8″ x 4 1/8″. Trim one of these layers 1/16″ to mimic that side of the gate fold.

Slide Lock piece
•Basic Black: 4 pieces @ 3 1/2″ square
•Regals DSP: 1 piece @ 3 1/4″ square
•Basic White scraps for sentiment and leaves

Here is the 4 1/4″ by 11 Crushed Curry base with both gate fold flaps scored.

Cut 4 pieces of Basic Black cardstock to 3 1/2″
square. Score two of the 4 pieces in half at 1 3/4″, use a bone folder and crease each fold of the base card and the 2 black folded pieces. These will become the slide locking mechanism.
With the folds facing to the inside adhere one side down on one of the flat 3 1/2″ square of Basic Black cardstock using a strong adhesive: Stampin’ Seal Plus or Tear and Tape.
Adhering tape to the other flat square fix this layer on top of the two folded black pieces – completing the locking slide mechanism. It will lock like the picture below.
Adhere the Black panels ontoo the front gatefold panels and then adhere the DSP atop the black layer.
Adhere the DSP square to the locking slide mechanism piece.
Decorate the locking mechanism – I stamped and die cut out the leaves from the Gorgeous Leaves stamp set and Intricate Leaves Die set and adhered in a circle. I stamped the Grateful sentiment from the Sparkle of the Season stamp set and die cut from the Stitched Rectangular die set. Popping the sentiment up on Dimensionals. I also stamped the splatter stamp in Crushed Curry directly onto the DSP – something we don’t often do but I like the effect!
I stamped the splatter stamp on the Basic White Stitched Rectangle die cut in Crushed Curry ink and added the Grateful stamp from the Sparkle of the Season stamp set in Poppy Parade ink in the center.
Slide the folded pieces down either side of the gatefold panels and lock the mechanism in place. It slides up and down to “unlock the card” Very COOL!!
This is the finished card and it is a very fun and easy fun fold card! I added a few Artistry Blooms Adhesive backed sequins to the card to finish it off!

I hope this inspires you to try something new – now go create art – one stamp at a time!
