rainbow scrap cards

rainbow scrap cards

I love using up scraps of paper to make beautiful cards and today that is what we are featuring. I have made strip scrap cards before and I had a bunch of various strips in rainbow colors so I made lots of cards!

Start with a base of some type, put glue or tape down on the base and start to adhere the strips in random or a calculated order you choose! This is your own adventure!

For the first sample I created a frame from 2 consecutive Stitched Rectangle dies and placed Stampin’ Seal around the entire perimeter of the frame and started to lay down the strips diagonally in rainbow order.

I added some DSP from the Sale-a-bration scrap paper Dainty Flowers as well.

Using Paper Snips I cut off the excess strips around the frame and adhered the frame to the card base of Coastal Cabana.

I die cut the larger flower image out of the Artistic Dies in Basic Black CS and adhered it to the lower right portion of the frame.

I stamped the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Something Fancy sentiment set and punched it out with the Banners Pick a Punch
I popped up the Sentiment strip in Coastal Cabana onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered to the upper left hand corner of the card.
I added rhinestone embellishments to the card and this sample is vibrant and easy to make!
This sample is similar but uses the Amazing Thanks die cuts for the sentiment instead of a stamped image.
The next sample I used a base piece not a frame and adhered the strips to this.
Cut off the excess strips hanging over the edge of the base when completely covered.
I ran this base piece through the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss with the Let’s Celebrate embossing Folder for a subtle Happy Birthday embossed wording.

I mounted this onto a white layer and then onto the card base of Gorgeous Grape CS.

And added Matte Black Dots for the embellishment contrast!

Again starting with a Basic White base layer I adhered the strips and this time die cut with a Stitched Rectangle die, popped up the rainbow striped layer and added a Basic White Gingko Branch die on top.

Die cut the You Are Amazing from the Amazing Thanks dies in Basic White and Basic Black and added to the card with Matte Black Dots for the embellishment!

Rainbow colors are the perfect background for a silhouette card and the Meadows Dies are just the ticket for this sample!

This strip card I alternated the rainbow colors with varying widths of Basic Black strips and added Forever Flourishing dies in vellum under the Something Fancy die and sentiment piece! Adding Iridescent Pastell Gems makes the card even prettier!
Just Stunning!

My last sample (although it was addicting and hard to stop – LOL) is alternating blues and green with black – embossed with the Into The Clouds Sale-a-bration Add-On FREE embossing Folder. (NOTE: below in the supply list Into the Clouds is pictured twice – the first entry is the current regular catalog # in case you want to buy it outright or the second entry is with the special Sale-a-bration item # for those that qualify with a $50 order to get it for FREE!) I die cut clouds from the Playing in the Rain Die set in Basic White CS and vellum – layering the vellum under the Basic White cardstock for the shadowing effect. I embellished the card with the Brushed Brass Butterflies and the Something Fancy Bundle!

This is a fun and easy way to use up scraps but do not blame me if you cannot stop once you start!! Go out and create your own strip scrap art if you dare! One stamp at a time!

loveliest layers masking double layer shutter card

loveliest layers masking double layer shutter card

I have highlighted masking before but this time I have used two layers of masking with the Loveliest Layers Decorative masks to create a shutter effect.

Measurements:
Sweet Sorbet base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Pear Pizzazz layer 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
Basic White layers (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″

Using the background flower mask and a blending brush – hold down the mask and apply Flirty Flamingo ink with the Blending Brush in a circular motion.

Using the foreground flower mask and a blending brush – hold down the mask and apply Sweet Sorbet ink with the Blending Brush in a circular motion.
Using the background leaf mask and a blending brush – poition the leaves so the flower petals do not overlap, hold down the mask and apply Pear Pizzazz ink with the Blending Brush in a circular motion.
Using the foreground leaf detail mask and a blending brush – hold down the mask and apply Old Olive ink with the Blending Brush in a circular motion.
Taking the second Basic White piece of cardstock and the large patterned background mask and a blending brush – hold down the mask and apply Pear Pizzazz ink with the Blending Brush in a circular motion over the entire surface of the layer.
Place the background masked cardstock into the Stampin’ Trimmer and cut into strips diagonally leaving corner pieces and 1/2″ segments from the corner pieces.
Start to adhere the top right corner over the flower and leaf masked image.
Skip the second diagonal cut and adhere the third strip to the card matching up the edges.
Adhere the bottom corner of the background mask to the Flower mask layer.
Skip the next strip and adhere the third strip to the card.
To me this looked like a shutter on a window! Adhere the shuttered layers to the Pear Pizzazz layer.
Stamp the sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set in the upper left hand corner, tie a length of White Glittered Organdy ribbon to the card and then adhere the Pear Pizzazz layer to the Sweet Sorbet card base.
Add 2022-2024 In Color Decorative Matte Dots to the card in Parakeet Party color and your shutter card is complete!

Loveliest Layers is another Sale-a-bration add-on it is listed twice in the supply list below the first entry is the regular catalog number for ordering and paying cash the second time it appears in the supply list the number is the Sale-a-bration Rewards number to earn it for FREE – the current hostess code is VFYMSRKJ and if you order $50 in merchandise you can earn the decorative masks for FREE!

Try layering card strips over the primary focal point and see what effects you can achieve! Go out and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

something fancy challenge

something fancy challenge

Let’s make some fun cards with the Stampin’ Through the Catalog’s Something Fancy stamp set challenge! This versatile sentiment set new in the January to April 2023 Mini Catalog is a die bundle featuring dies perfectly suited to highlight all of the sentiments in this set and many others in our mini and annual catalog. The words can be used on their own or in conjunction with the dies for a finished look with just the right words!
The stamp set contains 10 red rubber stamps with the following sentiments:

you matter TO SO MANY
WITH DEEPEST sympathy
I DIDN’T FORGET your birthday I’M JUST STRETCHING OUT the celebration
MAY THE good YOU DO COME BACK TO you
NOTHING fancy JUST love
GRATEFUL FOR THE everyday magic OF YOU
HAPPY BIRTHDAY
CONGRATULATIONS
thank you
HERE”S TO Beautiful BEGINNINGS & Happily EVER AFTERS

I made this set of cards with the Rain or Shine DSP, and the Playing in the Rain bundle – the images in this set are so sweet and compliment the sentiments in the Something Fancy bundle.

The highlighted card is a fun fold – a simple Z fold card.

Measurements:
Base: Pear Pizzazz 5 1/2″x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″ and 2 1/8″
DSP – 3″ x 5 1/2″ for the inside right panel,
3″ x 5″ for the top outside layer, cut outs
Basic White – 3 1/4″ x 5 1/4″ for the front DSP
Matte, scrap for the Stylish Shapes circle die

Score the base at 4 1/4″ and 2 1/8″.
Adhere the 3″ x 5 1/2″ DSP to the right side of the inside of the card. I left a small margin of Pear Pizzazz to border the card.
Adhere the 3″ x 5″ DSP to the Basic White layer.
Die cut a circle from the Stylish Shapes die set, stamp the raindrops from the Playing in the Rain stamp set in Balmy Blue ink and the WITH DEEPEST sympathy sentiment from the Something Fancy sentiment set on the lower portion of the die. Adhere to the lower right hand side of the layer making sure that the edge of the circle will not hang over the card dimensions once attached to the card front (you should keep it less than 5/8″ hang over)
Fussy cut one of the characters from the DSP with an umbrella and a set of three rain clouds. Adhere the rain clouds above the sentiment circle and the character to the upper left hand side of the die.
Attach a length of White Glittered Organdy Ribbon to the left side of the layer. Tie a know in the upper portion.
Place adhesive on the outer Fold of the pear Pizzazz base (do not take the adhesive to the edge – leave a 1/4″ all around) Adhere the front layers to the front flap leaving a 1/8″ border around the outside of the Pear Pizzazz flap. Press firmly to secure to the front flap. Add Basic Rhinestone Jewels to the circle die and this card is complete!
This next sample starts with a Basic White base card cut 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″, with a Basic White layer of 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed with the Into the Clouds Embossing Folder and lightly brushed with Pacific Point using a Blending Brush. The linear Happy Birthday sentiment is from our featured Something Fancy stamp set and punched with the Banners Pick a Punch I added the turtle die cut with the Playing in the Rain die set and other dies from that set to build the scene around the turtle from the Rain or Shine DSP. The final touches for a little bling set the tone in various shades of blue using the Tahitian Tide Metallic Woven ribbon and the silver Pastel Pearls colorized with the Tahitian Tide Stampin’ Blends marker.
My next sample starts with the same base and layer but before embossing, I stamped with the raindrops and sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set in Pacific Point ink and then embossed with the Into the Clouds folder. I used a different character from the Rain or Shine DSP and the same embellishments for a sweet and simple sympathy card.
I think this is my favorite sentiment in this Something Fancy set – who doesn’t miss a birthday now and again and this is a great sentiment for just that occasion! I love this bunny best of all of the characters in the Rain or Shine DSP and the kite adds just the right amount of whimsy. I stamped clouds and puddles in Pacific Point and shaded the bottom of the card in Crumb Cake and Pacific Point before adding the bridge and bunny I popped up the kite and bridge with Stampin’ Dimensionals and Foam Adhesive Strips and added Pastel Adhesive-Backed Sequins as the topper!
I love this next sample for the multi layered vellum clouds – you matter to so many is such agreat sentiment and the contrasting colors of the DSP make the turtle die cut pop!
I opted to fussy cut the turtle from the DSP instead of die cut to include more raindrops from the paper, used ripping the edges and Blending brushes to add distress to the sentiment piece of cardstock and added Opaque Adhesive-backed gems to finish off this last card!

This is a great sentiment set perfect for you collection and the bundle at $45.75 is just shy of the Level One Sale-a-bration set that you have been dying to get – only 20 days left for the Sale-a-bration deals and the current hostess code is VFYMSRKJ. Remeber there are SAle-a-bration Add-ons (additional rewards available including the Into the Clouds embossing folder included twice in the pictures below the first picture is the regular catalog number and the last entry is the one with the Sale-a-bration number if you want to earn that great embossing folder for free!) I hope this inspires you to go out and create some art of your own and send it out to a friend or family member that will be so happy to receive it!

misted alcohol marker vellum card

misted alcohol marker vellum card

I love learning and teaching new techniques and this is a great one! I have seen the Misted Marker technique many times but recently I saw a card and tutorial from Cindy C. and I knew I wanted to replicate it to teach it to you all! This technique can be done on card stock, watercolor paper, window sheets, and vellum. Personally I love the translucency of vellum and the look this technique achieves is stunning! Different every time and delightful to make!

My main sample today is a slim line card – I love the look but rarely think about this size so today I tried it out!

Measurements:
Base: Basic White 8 1/2″ x 7″ scored at 3 1/2″
Basic Black layer: 8 1/4″ x 3 1/4″
Basic White layer: 8″ x 3″ embossed
Basic White CS for hearts 4″ x 5 1/4″
Adhesive sheets for hearts 4″ x 5 1/4″
Vellum Layering Designs for hearts 4″ x 5 1/4″
Scrap Basic Black CS for the sentiment

Depending upon how many images you want to cut or punch out from the vellum – size accordingly. Cut the 3 layers for the hearts to the same size. For examples sake I am using 4″ x 5 1/4″. Remove one side of the protective backing from the adhesive sheet and adhere it onto the Basic White CS piece, peel off the other side and adhere the Vellum on top of the adhesive sheet (right way facing upwards away from the sticky side!)
Take various Stampin’ Blends and make random scribble marks across the entire vellum adhered surface. Make sure to cover the entire area.

Spray the vellum inked surface with Isopropyl Alcohol and using the Heat Tool push any access ink around until it dries.
Lie the vellum flat if it curls and place something heavy on the vellum to stop the curling and straightening it out.
Using the Country Bouquet punch – punch out as many larger hearts as you can.
Take the Basic White layer measuring 3″ x 8″ and run through the 3D Painted Texture embossing folder twice as the paper is longer than the folder.
Fold the Card base in half at the 3 1/2″ score line and adhere the Basic Black layer to the base.
Because the next layer is filled with texture from the 3D embossing folder , I used Tear N Tape. Adhere the Painted Texture layer to the Basic Black layer.
Pick five hearts in a similar color palette or those in a color gradient and arrange them on the card in a design of your choosing.
I stamped the Something Fancy sentiment in Versamark on Basic Black CS and sprinkled white embossing powder over the stamped image. Using the Heat Tool, I melted the embossing powder and allowed it to cool, popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhered it to the top right hand corner.
I added some rhinestones for the fancy and that completes the first card!!
I had extra hearts prepared in the same way and I could not bear to thrown them away, so I made a few more cards!

This next card starts with a Basic White card base cut to 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″.
Sentiment stamped and die cut from Something Fancy. I adhered this sentiment piece to the center of the card and arranged the hearts around the piece. I added Sweet Sorbet ribbon for a little sparkle.

This card begins with a Crumb Cake Card stock base, a crumb Cake layer measuring 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed with Stripes and Splatters 3D Embossing Folder and popped up with Dimensionals. Cut one inch strips of Crumb Cake Card stock to create a tone on tone background by punching the smaller hearts out. I needed eight for my design. I punched the Label Me Lovely punch from Basic White and added the Something Fancy Sentiment in Sweet Sorbet. I added the smaller hearts in a pattern above the Crumb Cake layer. Pop the sentiment onto the Stampin Dimensionals and twist the Sweet Sorbet Metallic ribbon three times around your palm and cut it off the spool. Flatten out the ribbon and attach under the sentiment piece. Pop up a smaller heart over the Misted Marker heart and adhere that down to the left of the sentiment.
This last card using the Misty Marker technique using one heart and four of the leaf images that got punched in the process. The card stock is the Shimmery White and measures 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″. I cut another layer of Shimmery White card stock to 4″ x 5 1/4″. I adhered the “leaves” to the back of the big heart. Stamp the sentiment in Orchid Oasis in the top center of the top layer and using a Blending Brush to add color to the middle of the top layer. Adhere the Heart punch to the center of the ink circle on the card front and add 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots for the embellishment!

Such a fun technique! Try it soon and go out and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!!
