photopolymer tricks

photopolymer tricks

Did you hear the announcement?
Stampin’ Up! will be transitioning to photopolymer stamps for our entire line!

We will be discontinuing our signature red rubber stamp line for several reasons.

Cling Stamps (Red Rubber)
We’ve decided to discontinue our cling stamp line due to key raw materials becoming increasingly difficult to source, with some no longer being manufactured at all. We will continue to offer a wide range of photopolymer stamps to support various artistic styles and techniques.

Other product line updates:

Stampin’ Write Markers
We have also decided to discontinue Stampin’ Write Markers. With the growing popularity of Stampin’ Blends, we’ve seen a steady decline in sales of Stampin’ Write Markers. One of the primary techniques unique to Stampin’ Write Markers is coloring directly on cling stamps—a technique that will become less relevant as we transition away from cling.

New and Improved Stamp and Die Packaging
As part of our transition away from cling stamps, we’re excited to introduce updated packaging for stamps and dies! Because photopolymer stamps are thinner, we’re able to offer sleeker, slimmer packaging that saves space. Both stamps and dies will now come in the same size and style of packaging, making it easier than ever to store bundles and coordinating products together. The new packaging is similar to our current die packaging—durable, clear plastic envelopes—but with an exciting improvement: Die packaging will now feature printed artwork for quick and easy identification! Stamp packaging will continue to display artwork as well.

One of the exciting things about photopolymer stamps is their ease of use – being clear it is easy to see where and what you are stamping as well as line up the image in relationship to other images already on the paper!

Because these stamps are flexible you can manipulate their shape to a certain degree. Today’s project uses this tip and trick – I am using the Everyday Arches stamp set which already has a natural curve to the stamp image but I wanted to use it in conjunction with the Sunshine Vibes rainbow dies!

Here is the original shape of the stamp – I am using the “you are simply fantastic” sentiment.

Measurements:
BASE: Poppy Parade CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″, scrap for rainbow die
Calypso Coral CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″, scrap for die
Basic white CS: 3″ x 4″ for the rainbow base die
Crushed Curry CS: scrap for rainbow die
Pumpkin Pie CS: scrap for rainbow die

Manipulate the photopolymer stamp into the shape desired and place on the acrylic block.
Place the largest rainbow strip on the white base for a guide and then stamp the sentiment in Poppy Parade ink to match the card base.

Adhere the rainbow strips to the Basic White CS rainbow base.

Emboss the Calypso Coral layer in the Stampin’ Cut and Emboss machine with the So Swirly embossing folder using the BASE plate #1, and (2) cutting plates #3 as this is a regular width embossing folder.
Tie a 1/4″ white ribbon knot on the lower third of the embossed layer.
Adhere the embossed layer to the card base.
Pop up the rainbow focal point onto Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere above the ribbon on the embossed layer.
I used the white Starburst Sequin to finish off this fun card that showcases just one of the cool things you can do with photopolymer stamps!

Try you hand at bending and stamping a photopolymer stamp into a different shape and go create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

hidden flap halloween card

hidden flap halloween card

I am not usually a Halloween-y girl but something about the Spooky Halloween Bundle caught my eye – adorable in it’s design I will use this in all my scrapbooking for my children’s pages that I am catching up on! and cute cards.

Today’s card is a hidden flap fun fold card and all of the easy to follow directions are below! Hope you try this easy fun fold card soon!

Measurements:
BASE: Pumpkin Pie CS: 4 1/4″ x 8 1/4″
scored at 2 3/4″
scrap larger than 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ for die cut
Granny Apple Green CS: 2 3/4″ x 8″
scored at 4″
Basic White CS: 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
4″ x 5 1/4″
2 1/2″ x 4″
scrap for die cut figure
Basic Black CS: scraps for bat and house dies

Emboss the 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2 1/2″ x 4″ pieces of Basic White cardstock with the So Swirly embossing folder.

Stamp the “Don’t Worry, Eat Sweets” sentiment on the smallest piece of Basic White CS. (I actually cut this photopolymer stamp in half instead of stamping one half and then the other – they are super easy to cut and piece back together when I want the longer straight saying in the future)

Score the Granny Apple Green layer in half at 4″ and adhere the stamped layer to the inside of this smaller card.

Die cut the smaller Pumpkin Pie layer with the Textured Notes die set and stamp the “No Tricks ALL TREATS” sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink across the top of the piece.

Adhere the So Swirly embossed pieces to the inside and front flap of the card.

Adhere only the top third of the Pumpkin Pie die piece to the middle of the front flap of the card.

Die cut the Haunted House die in Basic Black scrap and two bats.

Adhere the house and one bat flying over the house about 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the Granny Apple Green front of the smaller card.

Adhere the smaller Granny Apply Green card to the inside So Swirly embossed layer.

Close the card and make sure that the Pumpkin Pie layer is evenly bordered by the Granny Apple Green layer below.

Stamp Happy Halloween sentiment in Pumpkin Pie ink on the inside flap of the card.
When the card front is closed the Granny APple Green card below should be evenly spaced under the Pumpkin Pie die cut on the front flap.
Die cut one of the super sweet “monsters” from this set and color with watercolor pencils and brush with water to blend the pencil color.

Pop up the focal figure on Stampin’ Dimensionals and place on the Pumpkin Pie die cut below the sentiment.

Add the Frosted Iridescent Dots from the upcoming mini catalog release – available next week to the card front and this adorable Halloween card is finished!

This is a simple fun fold card and I hope you try it with your stash soon – now go and create some artwork of your very own one stamp ata time!

june swap cards

june swap cards

another fun set of swap cards have arrived and I am highlighting all of the cute work that some of my team and sideline demonstrators have been up to!

My first swap card share is from Andrea U and features a lovely In Color card using the Unbounded love bundle and the Perennial Postage dies in Pretty In Pink and Peach Pie cardstock, picking up the colors in the DSP used from the Unbounded Love 12″ x 12″ DSP!

Even the inside is decorated!
Robin C’s swap card used the Under the Moon stamp set for a lovely sunset sailing cruise card in hues of Daffodil Delight, Flirty Flamingo and Azure Afternoon!
The next swap card is from Jennie T and used the Countryside Corners stamps and dies to create the focal point the dies are still available in the current catalog, and the Crafting with You stamp set for the flowers. The Countryside Inn DSP lends itself well to the cottage feel of this card!
Both Robyns decided to use the Under the Moon stamp set – so my downline Robyn made a clever fun fold to show the versatility of the Under the Moon stamp set. Showing day and night panels with alternating Country Woods DSP!
Carol S’s swap card used the Seaside Wishes in Pool Party and Calypso Coral tones! LOVE this set and this card!
Kathi D featured the Thoughtful Journey Suite on her swap card and I love the clean lines on this swap card. Using a die cut in Misty Moonlight to pull out the blue tones in the Thoughtful Journey DSP!
Veronica’s Spotlight on Nature swap card is mounted on a Smoky Slate base card with a layer of Petunia Pop and flowers and butterfly colored with coordinating Stampin’ Blends!
Lori V’s Sea Turtle card features the Deckled Circle die and the large and small turtle fussy cut on a Soft Sea Foam card base.
And our last swap card is our swap coordinator Denise W, who also picked out the Sea Turtle stamp set for her swap card! In hues of Pretty Peacock she used the bone folder to break the fibers of the Pretty Peacock extra layer to make a faux suede piece to go underneath the Sea Turtles stamps image!
Hope these swap cards gave you some ideas for your own creations – now go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!
