beautiful butterflies shaker card

beautiful butterflies shaker card

Today’s blog post is a shaker card with the Beautiful Butterflies bundle: for butterfly lovers like me this is an awesome bundle with a hybrid embossing folder and gorgeous coordinating stamp and die sets.

I had some watercolor paper left over from my March 22nd OnStage swap cards and I used the last of those papers for this special card that I mailed to a friend of mine for her birthday!

Measurements:
BASE: Lemon Lime Twist CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic Black CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed and cut
Window Sheet 3 1/2″ x 5″
Fluid 100 paper

Emboss the Basic Black layer with the Beautiful Butterflies folder and cut a 1″ border frame with the Stampin’ Trimmer.
Save the inside rectangle for the inside of the card.
Place Tear-n-Tape around the backside perimeter of the frame cut out.
Adhere the window sheet to the inside of the Basic Black layer.
Place foam adhesive strips around the backside opening of the rectangular opening.
Place a pile of Itty Bitty Bokeh Mix in the center of the Lemon Lime card base.
Remove the release paper off the foam strips and adhere the Basic Black frame to the card front so there is an even border the whole way around the card.
Adhere the large butterfly that we die cut out of the watercolored Fluid 100 paper to the lower right hand side of the frame.
Stamp the sentiment onto remaining Fluid 100 paper and die cut with the sentiment strip die and adhere above the rectangular opening .
Place glue dots on the card front to adhere additional Itty Bitty Bokeh sequins to the card front to decorate!
Adhere a Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer to the inside of the card.
Stamp a smaller butterfly in Tuxedo Black Memento ink at the top and adhere the rectangular frame cut to the lower right hand side of that layer and the inside has some fun interest!
Shake to your hearts content what a fun interactive card!
Try making a shaker card as your next project – now go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

And this is the stamp set that comes in the kit:
I added two Brushed Gold Cards and Envelopes to the mix to change the tags that come in the kit into cards. This item is currently back-ordered but will continue into the new Annual Catalog and should be back soon!
This first card was done exactly according to the kit instructions which are full colored instruction sheets and very helpful for those that do not want to go off-script!

Sweet layers and pop-up balloons make this a beautiful and easy birthday card anyone would be proud to send and happy to receive!

I modified one of the tags and popped it up on the Brushed Gold Cards and Envelopes. Changed the stamping and made a fun and easy card out of one of the tags!
For the second tag card I added a 2″ panel embossed with the polka dots from the Basics 3D embossing folder and popped up the tag over that panel on the Brushed Gold card.
This last card I changed up and added a window sheet and some foam adhesive strips to the mix to make a shaker card with the Iridescent Shaker Circles, which will be retiring. These are a must have if you like to make shaker cards. They are full of fun and whimsy and I love this card!
Come join us Tuesday and if you can’t this is a great kit to buy and have for all those birthday cards needed for the rest of the year! With just a few extra supplies you can double the cards in the kit and get 12 cards instead of 6 cards and 6 tags! there are left over pieces that could easily make another card of two as well!

Now go and create some birthday cards of your own – one stamp at a time!

happy little things shaker card

happy little things shaker card

Aren’t shaker card so much fun?
I love the simplicity of this new online exclusives set Happy Little Things with it’s open font that you can color and lots of different sayings! Such a versatile set!
So I decided to do a stepped up shaker card!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
layer 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed
scrap for the sentiment
2022-2024 In – Colors scraps for dies
Starry Sky 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Window Sheet 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″

Stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink the open font Celebrate and “the little things” onto a strip of paper approximately 1″ x 5 1/2″
Color the open font with the 2022-2024 In-Colors Stampin’ Blends markers alternating all five colors.
Run the Basic White later through the polka dot Basics 3D embossing folder and adhere tothe card base.
Die cut one of each of the 2022-2024 In Color scraps with the larger banner die from the Happy Little Things die set. Adhere onto the embossed layer in the center.
Die cut the largest Perennial Postage die out of the Starry Sky layer to create a frame for the windowsheet and to hide the Foam Adhesive strips.
Adhere the window sheet to the back of Starry Sky frame.
Adhere Foam Adhesive strips around the entire edge of the Starry Sky frame make sure there are no holes for the shaker materials to leak out.
Adhere three sides of the foam strips to the card front and pour in the shaker material. Secure the last side of the shaker card and press down firmly to secure all sides.
The shaker material I used is retired now it was called Effervescent Elements but you could use the current loose silver sequins to achieve the same effect!
Adhere the sentiment piece over the center of the shaker cover and add Starry Sky Pearls to the card front to complete!

I love the way this card turned out – to see the shaker in action check out the 3-13-2024 Facebook video post!

Hope this inspired you to make a fun shaker card for a friend – now go create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

beauty of the deep shaker card

beauty of the deep shaker card

Shaker cards are WOW cards – they have a delightful interactive quality and you just have to shake the card multiple times – it’s irresistible!

Water sets always lend themselves nicely to shaker cards – maybe it’s the motion of water that makes me think that but in my mind the two are always easily associated!

The Beauty of the Deep stamp set is very detailed with lots of fabulous stamps and coordinating dies! This was a fun card to make and a great way to use those loose sequins you all have lying around (the sequins I used is retired but you can use anything you have laying around! – For Everything Fancy dies retired with the last catalog)

Measurements:
BASE: Azure Afternoon 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White layers (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″

Die cut concentric countryside corners dies out of one basic white layer and the smaller one out of the Azure Afternoon card front.

Place the second Basic White layer under the first die cut White layer and stamp the coral in Azure Afternoon across the scene.

Adhere a window sheet under the white die cut layer.

Add the angelfish to the uncut Basic White layer and adhere under the card front window.

Adhere Foam Adhesive Strips to the backside of the Basic white die cut layer with Window Sheet. Butt up the ends so that the sequins will not spill out.
Add a small handful of loose sequins to the card center and remove the paper release paper off the Foam Adhesive strips and adhere to the card front.

Stamp in Smoky Slate ink on the die cut from the top Basic White layer three angelfish and adhere to the window sheet.
Using the remaining scrap stamp the You’re Absolutely Amazing sentiment from the Color and Contour or another stamp set you have in coordinating Azure Afternoon ink, fussy cut the sentiment and adhere to the top right edge of the window sheet!
Now go ahead I know you want to – SHAKE that card! LOL! It’s irresistible!

Now go and create a shaker card for someone special – make some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

hand-drawn dots cards

hand-drawn dots cards

Hand-Drawn Dots is a new background stamp from the 2023 January – April mini catalog. It is also the featured stamp set for the Stampin’ Through the Catalog challenge from last Thursday, so I love to play along with challenges and these are the cards I came up with!

The first card uses the stamparatus to stamp the background and then slightly offset the paper to make the first stamped dots appear like a shadow! I love this stamp positioning tool for projects such as this one!

Measurements:
Base: Crumb Cake 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
scrap for the Stylish Shapes circle die
scrap for the sentiment die
Basic White Layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
scrap for the Brilliant Wings die
Vellum: scrap for the Brilliant Wings die
background technique

Place the stamp on the acrylic hinge of the Stamparatus. Ink the stamp surface with Crumb Cake ink and stamp onto the middle of the Basic White Layer.

Clean the stamp image and re-ink with the Craft White ink pad.

Move the paper slightly so that the white dots are offset from the Crumb Cake ones – making a shadow image.

I embossed the Craft ink with White embossing powder and set it with a heat tool for added shine and texture!

Cut the solid butterfly shape out of Vellum cardstock and place on the extra acrylic hinge piece of the Stamparatus tool.
Choose three colors of Stampin’ Blends colors, I chose Mambo Melon, Flirty Flamingo and Daffodil Delight. Scribble on the vellum surface.
Using a spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol, liberally spray the vellum surface and push the ink and dry it with a heat tool.
Add more color if necessary once the vellum is dry or leave as is!
Die cut the cooresponding detailed butterfly die out of Basic White cardstock and adhere together
Adhere the Basic White embossed layer to the Crumb Cake card base.
Pop up the butterfly onto Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals tucking them onto the back where the white veins of the butterfly wings will hide the adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment in Craft White ink and heat embossed with White powder as well and die cut using the Fancy Dies.

Because the Crumb Cake circle die cut from the Stylish Shapes set is being adhered over an embossed surface I used Tear & Tape for a more secure adherence.
Adhere the circle die to the upper middle section of the Basic White embossed layer.
Place the popped up butterfly in the center fo the circle die and cut about15 inches of Sweet Sorbet metallic woven ribbon and wind loosely around your palm, place a piece of adhesive under the sentiment piece and adhere the ribbon to the backside of that die piece. Secure the ribbon by placing Stampin Dimensionals on top and add to the lower right hand side of the card front. Add Opaque Adhesive-backed Gems and the colors of the ribbon and Gems compliments the Vellum Alcohol background nicely!
This next sample starts with a base of Soft Sea Foam Cardstock and stamped the Hand-Drawn Dots in Versamark and embossed with clear embossing powder and a subtle tone on tone look. I added a die cut from the Basic Borders Dies in Pear Pizzazz using both sides of the border to lend a whimsical curve to the middle of the card! I stamped the sentiment to carry the tone on tone style throughout the card in Crumb Cake ink on the same color card stock. Added plain vellum background butterflies under the Basic white cardstock overlay of the more detailed butterfly dies and added 2022-2024 In Color Decorative dots to the sentiment focal piece for the finishing touch of interest.
I stamped the Hand-Drawn Dots background on Crumb Cake in the same ink and distressed the corners and added a bit of crumb cake ink diagonally down the center of the 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer to add an aged look. I added the same directional inking to the Fancy Dies sentiment die cut piece. I added the Vellum backed Butterfly dies to the top and bottom of the opposite diagonals on the sentiment piece and finished the card with the Iridescent Pastel Gems for a little subtle bling!
My last sample is a shaker card – I used the negative piece from the circle die cut from my first sample and adhered a Window Sheet to the back of the Crumb Cake die opening. I layered Foam Adhesive Strips around the circle opening and added some retired sequins (a great way to use up old sequins containers – for new product you could use the For Everything Fancy sequins or the Loose Flower Flourishes or the Effervescent Elements these are all great choices!)
I stamped the Hand-Drawn Dots in Mambo Melon on a 4″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Basic White Cardstock and added that to a Mambo Melon Cardstock base. I filled the basin made with the Foam adhesive strips with the sequins and adhered another window sheet to close up the cavity. I adhered the shaker portion of the card onto the stamped layer and added the sentiment piece and the layered butterfly die as well as a Brushed Brass Butterfly to the ink Blended sentiment focal piece for the finishing touches. Shake and enjoy!
I hope you enjoyed the samples of our newest background stamp. Dig out some of yours and go and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!
