humble home double box fun fold

humble home double box fun fold

This Double Box Fun Fold card is super easy once you have the dimensions and what a fun standing 3D card for your favorite person!

Measurements:
BASE Piece #1: Pecan Pie: 9 3/8″ x 4 1/4″
   scored at 3/8″, 1 3/8″, 2 7/8″ and 3 7/8″
BASE Piece #2: Pecan Pie: 3 1/2″ x 5 1/8″
   scored at 3/8″ and 1 3/8″
   scraps for Humble Home punch
Basic Beige CS: 3 3/4″ x 4″
   3 1/4″ x 3 3/4″
Real Red CS: 1 1/4″ x 4″ and (2) 5/8″ x 4″
   scrap for die cut
1/4″ strip for Humble Home punch for heart

Stamp the Home image in Tuxedo Black Memento ink on Pecan Pie scrap and punch out home and save the heart as well.

Die cut a medium circle from the Stylish Shapes die set in Real Red CS and stamp the “from our house to yours” in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink.

Run the Basic Beige smaller piece through the Exposed Brick 3D embossing folder.
Run the three Real Real pieces through the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder.
Fold the score lines in as mountain folds and add Tear and Tape to the first and smallest scored panel.
Peel off the release paper from BASE #1 and fold the second score line from the end and attach the Tear and Tape piece to the card base.
If you attach while the paper is folded flat this will put the scored tab with the Tear and Tape in the correct place to allow the card to open and close within the parameters of the envelope size.
Attach the Forever Plaid 3D embossed Real Red pieces to the box panels the two pieces of the same size attach to the side of the box and the larger piece goes on the top panel of the box.
Adhere the Basic Beige embossed piece to the BASE #2 piece.
Place some adhesive on the end opposite the Tear and Tape end to attach to the BASE #1 box.
I placed the piece upside down on Box #1 so that I made sure to only adhere where the end of the piece would meet on Box #1’s surface (you do not want to adhere past the box edge)
Flip over Box #2 and adhere the left hand edge to Box #1.
Peel the release paper from the Tear and Tape, fold over the first two panels and then collapse box #1 and with the first to panels from Box #2 folded to the back – press firmly to secure the Tear and Tape to the card base.
(I decided to add a layer to the card base after doing this step OOPS!! so if you would like a layer under Box #2 do this before adhering the end of Box #2.
I adhered the small Real Red sentiment circle die to the surface of Box #2.
I adhered a Pecan Pie small heart to the Real Red circle die.
Adhere the Humble Home punch house to the card front and I added three Real Red hearts coming out of the chimney.
I decided to add another layer to the card base so I detached BASE #2 and adhered the Basic Beige layer to the card base then reattached BOX #2.
This is a view of the card standing up!
I added three Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs to the card front to finish the card off with a little bling!

overlapping tri-fold card

overlapping tri-fold card

Today’s More Color Monday color challenge is all about the colors of Real Red, Crushed Curry and Pumpkin Pie. The Overlapping Tri-Fold fun fold card features an easy card that opens twice to reveal a hidden message.

Measurements:
BASE: Pumpkin Pie 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
scrap for die
Real Red: 4 1/8″ x 11″ score at 2 7/8″ flip and
score at 2 3/4″ from the other edge
scrap for die
Crushed Curry: 2 3/4″ x 4″
4″ x 5 1/4″
DSP: 4″ x 4 1/8″, 1/4″ x 4″, 1/2″ x 4″

Stamp the birthday wish sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the butterfly stamp on the Crushed Curry layer.
Score the 4 1/8″ x 11″ card at 2 7/8″ then flip the card and score at 2 3/4″ from the other edge. Fold both score lines inward.
I had a couple of DSP 1/4″ x 4″ and 1/2″ x 4″ scraps and adhered them to the left side of the layer.
Adhere the layer to the center of the Real Red layer.
Adhere the center of the back of the Real red card to the Pumpkin Pie 1/4 sheet of cardstock.
On the right hand side adhere the outside and place the DSP layer evenly on the right hand panel.
Emboss the Crushed Curry layer with the Dotted 3D Embossed Folder. Adhere to the left hand panel.
Stamp the “you brighten up so many of my days” in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the little butterflies around the words on the Real Red Spotlight on Nature die cut.
When you open the right hand panel you can see the back of the DSP.
I put two red Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs around the word birthday.
Die cut the same size Spotlight on Nature die in Pumpkin Pie cardstock. Stamp the “Thinking OF You” sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and the small butterfly on the circle die cut.
Adhere the left hand edge of the pumpkin circle to the left hand panel.
Adhere the white Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs around the words.
This is what the inside of the card looks like.
This fun fold is an easy way to use both side s of DSP and a way to use multiple sentiments.

Try this fun fold and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp of a time.

more color mondays – smoky slate, real red, and basic black

more color mondays – smoky slate, real red, and basic black

I think red and black is a striking combination and today’s card uses Smoky Slate, Real Red and Basic Black to create a fun Sweetest Star Christmas card for this installation of More Color Mondays color challenge!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White CS: 5 1/2: x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
scrap for sentiments and star punch
Real Red CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Stamp the santa star from the Sweetest Star stamp set and color the santa suit with Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends marker.
I colored in Dark Real Red Stampin’ Blends marker around/under the beard for shadow and under the belt and around the arm lines and above the belt.
I colored over the image again with the Light Real Red Stampin’ Blends marker to blend the shadowing.
I colored the belt buckle in Smoky Slate and just to the right of the belt flap for shadow differentiation.
I colored the boots in light Basic Black Stampin’ Blends marker and the rest of the belt.
I colored the skin, and hands in the Ivory Stampin’ Blends marker.
And colored in the hats in Light Real Red marker because I forgot those LOL!
I embossed the Real Red Layer with the Forever Plaid 3D embossing folder (a new favorite of mine!) and adhered that to the Basic White card front.
I punched out the santa star from the Sweetest Star punch and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals in the upper center of the card front.
I stamped the holly jolly christmas sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink and cut off the word Christmas from the sentiment on a 1/4″ Basic White strip and adhered it below the star punch.
I stamped the Christmas words from the Peaceful Seasons Stamp set in Real Red ink and die cut with the coordinating dies and adhered to the bottom of the card front.
I adhered the Silver Drusy embellishments around the Christmas sentiment – such a cute Santa and a great Christmas card in striking Real Red and basic Black with a touch of Smoky Slate!

changing leaves color blocking card

changing leaves color blocking card

Just a simple background technique can elevate a card and todays’ blog post is all about a few fun background techniques that will take your cards from simple to WOW!

A watercolor wash and a simple splatter technique make a HUGE difference on this card – follow along today to learn how to accomplish these techniques!

Measurements:
BASE: Cherry Cobbler: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White layers: (2) 4″ x 5 1/4″
scraps for the die cuts

I chose three Fall Colors and stamped the maple leaf image in each: Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Crushed Curry.

I used a waterpainter to color in the leaves open spaces pulling the ink from stamping the leaves into the open spaces between the veins and die cut each leaf.

I then used the waterpainter in a zigzag motion to color a third of the Basic White layer.

I stamped the sentiment onto the center lower section of the layer in Cherry Cobbler.

I popped up each of the leaves and placed onto there corresponding color on the Basic White layer.

I brushed each leaf with the WInk of Stella for a little added sparkle.
I adhered the Basic White watercolor washed layer to the Cherry Cobbler base and added some Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs tot he card front.
For the final pop I took each of the three colors in the Dark Stampin’ Blends marker and opening up the brush tip side I used the edge of my bone folder and tapped on the plastic sleeve of the marker near the brush tip to splatter ink onto the same color section of watercolored wash.
Just a little extra effort makes this simple card POP and adds so much depth, dimension and interest! Try these little additions to your card making and elevate your game! Now go and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!
