one inch dsp strip cards

one inch dsp strip cards

I love sending Christmas cards out – even if it is the only time I communicate with some people I hope it shows them that even in this busy life I still think of them at this special time of year! Since I send out a TON of cards I look for pretty and easy cards that will work in bulk and this is a perfect option.
These simple cards allow our gorgeous Designer Series Paper to do all the work!

Measurements
BASE: Basic White 8 1/2 X 5 1/2 scored at 4 1/4
Layer: 3 7/8″ x 5 1/8″
Designer Series Paper: (2) 1″ x 2 5/8″
(2) 1″ x 3 7/8″
Coordinating Colored Cardstock: 4″ x 5 1/4″

Fold the Basic White card base at the score line and burnish with your bone folder for a crisp clean fold.

Adhere the Basic white layer to the colored cardstock layer.

Using liquid glue adhere the 1 inch strips around the border of the White layer leaving an even 1/8″ border on the outside and in between the DSP pieces. Alternate the sizes of the DSP pieces. I cut the same images for each size so that the opposing panels would be identical or similar you could choose to use four images as well. I liked the symmetrical look. See sample below for reference.
Attach the layered piece to the card front.
Using a coordinating ink color stamp a sentiment in the center and add embellishments if you like but it is pretty all on it’s own with the gorgeous paper!
You can add detail to the Basic White layer with ink and a mask as I did in this other sample below.
Or just change the paper and the color scheme and get a beautiful alternative look!

These cards are perfect for those of us with busy lives or that send a lot of Christmas cards!

Try this DSP strip technique with paper you have in your craft room and let me know what you come up with! Now go and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!!

Do you have an abundance of gorgeous paper? I know I do! The next couple of posts will give you some great ideas of how to make fast and easy beautiful cards with your beautiful Designer Series paper! So dig out all that paper and start having some fun!

Measurements:
Base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 4 1/4″
Layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
DSP 1″ strips

Start off with the layer of Basic Black 4″ x 5 1/4″

Adhere a long 1″ strip of the Perfectly Penciled DSP to the center of the Basic Black layer diagonally.
Flip the DSP over for the geometric design and leaving a small border as desired adhere another strip next to the first.
Adhere 1″ strips perpendicularly to the first two strips on either side leaving the same width of space as the first two strips.
Turn the layer over and cut the excess off at the edge of the layer.

As you near the edge and there is a small triangle it helps to cut it longer than the edge of the paper and fold it over the layer this will give the smaller pieces more stability. (see photo below)

Finish all the edges by cutting them to the edge of the Basic Black layer.

Then adhere this layer to the Base cardstock.
I used Basic Black for the base and layered a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer on the inside of the base card.

Stamp a sentiment – this one is from the Artistically Inked stamp set and I punched it into a banner format with the Banners Pick a Punch and then layered it onto the Basic Black Cardstock and punched this layer as well to match the Basic White layer.
Pop up the sentiment onto the card and add some Matte Black dots to finish this easy and simple card off!

Have lots of great designer series paper this is a fun card to make with all those beautiful designs! Go out and create some gorgeous DSP art of your own – one page, one stamp at a time!
