Do you love interactive cards – if so you are going to LOVE today’s post!

Today’s card is a square explosion card – pull on these tabs and the square opens up like a flower and reveals a message on the inside – what a cool surprise!

Measurements:
BASE: Flirty Flamingo 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Basic White layer 4″ x 5 1/4″
Flirty Flamingo layer 3 1/4″ square
DSP layer 6″ x 6″ folded and cut
inside white layer 2 3/4″ square

Score the 6″ x 6″ DSP at 1 1/2″ on all sides.

Cut the 4 corners out.

Fold the outside point of the edges cut inward towards the score line to create a triangle, do this on each side.

Starting with the bottom edge fold upwards towards the middle and proceeding clockwaise fold at each score line inward until you get to the last and fourth fold and tuck inside the first fold, creating the explosion square.

Stamp on the inside Basic White square piece in Flirty Flamingo for th Stippled Rose and Sweet Sorbet for the sentiment for a little contrast!

Open up the explosion square and adhere the inside layer to the center square.

Emboss the Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ layer in the Layered Florals 3D embossing folder and adhere to the Flirty Flamingo outer layer.

Adhere the explosion square to the Flirty Flamingo layer and adhere with Tear & Tape to the upper center of the card front.

Add Rainbow Adhesive-backed dots to the card. This is what the card looks like closed…

…and opened!

faceted vertical diamond fold easel card

This is the time of year in the Stampin’ Up! world were we say good-bye to lots of favorite products in the outgoing Annual Catalog and get ready to make space for all of the new things to come.
This project is made with one of the best paper packs that is retiring – it is a hostess only set and if you hostess a workshop of $150 dollars or more in the last month of this catalog you can order the hostess only sets and Designer series papers at a discount! This pack contains 12 sheets of 12″ x 12″ DSP 2 each of 6 designs in toned of Blackberry Bliss, Daffodil Delight, Mint Macaron (retiring), Old Olive, Petal Pink, and Pool Party.
This project is a fun 3D card that I made back in March I posted it last week as one of my favorite projects for the year and then realized I had never posted it on my blog – OOPS! So here it is!

Measurements
BASE: Pool Party Cardstock
5-1/2” x 8-1/2” scored parallel to the short side at 4-1/4”
Basic White Cardstock
2-3/4” x 5-1/4”
Design a Daydream Designer Series Paper
5” x 5-1/4” – cut from the left edge at 1-7/8” and again at 1-7/8” to get three consecutive strips: two pieces that are 1-7/8” x 5-1/4” and one that is 1-1/4” x 5-1/4”

Cut a piece of Pool Party Cardstock to 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and score at 4 1/4″. Flatten the cardstock out and place the left edge of the long side at the 2 3/4″ (which is half of the 5 1/2″ side.) On the front half of the card make a cut starting 3/4″ above the score line to 3/4″ below the top edge of the card. If you are cutting your cardstock with our awesome Stampin’ Trimmer the guide is clear and has ruler markings on it so you would begin the cut 3/4″ above the 4 1/4″ score line making the starting cut at the 3 1/2″ mark on the clear guide ruler and cut until the 3/4″ mark on the clear ruler guide.

Next score at the 2 1/8″ mark down the middle of the card front.

Using a ruler and a pencil draw a small mark at 3/4″ from the top and bottom of the card along the score line that runs down the middle of the card front. Place the top dot in the cutting track of your Stampin’ Trimmer and place the outside edge of the slit in the track as well – score a diagonal line from the top dot to the right edge of the slit. Place the right edge of the slit in the cutting track and now swivel the card to place the bottom dot in the track as well and score a diagonal line from the right side of the slit to the bottom dot. Continue to swivel the card placing the bottom dot and the edge of the left side of the slit in the track and score the diagonal line. Finally complete the scored diamond shape by placing the left side of the slit and the top dot in the cutting track and score the diagonal line between those two points.

Fold the score line down the middle of the card front into a mountain fold and the diamond score lines inward – the card should look like the photo below.

Lie the Designer series paper out so that the pattern matches up and take the right hand piece first and add a generous amount of Stampin’ Dimensionals all around the outside edge (this will be the edge for the easel base of the card. Place the DSP with about 1/8″ border around the outside edges.

Adhere the Basic White cardstock adjacent to the DSP leaving a 1/8″ border between the DSP and the Basic White cardstock.

Take the remaining two pieces of DSP and lining up the pattern hinge them together so that the pattern you want to be the outside pattern is together on the inside. See photo below of me hinging the DSP together.
The colorful pattern is matched up on the inside touching each other and the green polka dot pattern is facing outwards.

Mark on the outside a dot in pencil 1/2″ down from the top of the DSP, 1/2″ up from the bottom of the DSP and 1/2″ from the right side of the paper at the 2 5/8″ mark.
Cut along the diagonal lines formed from connecting the three dots .

Cut the middle triangle in half across the middle at the 2 5/8″ mark creating four triangle pieces for the center of the diamond.

Adhere the outside edges of the DSP to the outsides of the diamond fold and the smaller triangles to the inside folds of the diamond.
Add a pencil mark to the middle of the white cardstock that shows through when the fun fold is in the easel position and stamp a small sentiment over the pencil mark so that the sentiment peeks through the small window made by the faceted diamond.

Add some pearls and your fancy fold is complete! This card folds flat for mailing but can stand alone when popped up in the easel format!

hanging hearts pop up card

How fun is it to get a card in the mail but how much more fun is it when the card is interactive and pops out with dangling hearts for a special friend for Valentine’s day!

Well, this card is the ticket! With the simple addition of a band of cardstock you can create a pop out feature to be able to hang your heart punches on!

Measurements:
BASE: Poppy Parade 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Poppy Parade 1 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at 2 1/8″,
4 1/4″ and 6 3/8″
DSP (4) pieces cut to 1 3/8″ x 2″
(2) pieces cut to 1/2″ x 4″
(1) piece cut to 3 3/4″ x 5″
(1) cut to 3″ square
Basic White (1) piece cut to 4″ x 5 1/4″
(2) pieces cut to 4″ x 3 7/8″
scrap for the heart punches and the securing
band

Stamp in Poppy Parade ink four sets of hearts from the Country Bouquet stamp set and punch out the hearts saving the negative space paper for the next step.

Turn the negative space paper over and place the hearts back into the punched space upside down so they fit into the negative spaces. Clean off the double heart stamp and stick to the acrylic block upside down as if this was a reversible stamp, ink in Poppy Parade and stamp the backside of the punched out hearts. Because we will be mounting these onto string and they will be free floating and able to spin you want to adhere a reverse image to the backside so that it will be pretty if it spins – you could adhere a plain Basic White punched heart onto the backside but I wanted the heart to be stamped in color)

Using Tear N Tape secure a line of string or trim to the middle of the heart over the Tear N Tape and secure the other heart over the bottom heart.

Repeat the procedure for two smaller hearts.

Using a scrap of 1/4 – 1/2″ x 4″ strip of Basic white cardstock fold it in half and adhere Tear N Tape to the strip and placing the large heart at the fold and the two smaller hearts on either side secure them with the strip of Basic White Cardstock on the backside of the pop up strip of Poppy Parade cardstock.
On the front side of the Poppy Parade strip add the four sections of 1 3/8″ x 2″ of DSP.
Add Tear N Tape to the back of the 2 outside sections and removing the release paper of the Tear N Tape adhere each outer edge to the card edge.

Add the 3 7/8″ x 4″ pieces of Basic White cardstock to the inside bottom panels of the card base.
Add the 1/2″ x 4″ strip of DSP to each white inside section.
The inside of the card is complete!

Adhere the basic white layer to the card front.

Adhere the larger DSP piece to the White layer.

Stamp the sentiment in Poppy Parade ink to the lower right hand side of the 3″ square piece of DSP and adhere to the card front.

Pop up a large and small heart and add a smaller heart close to the sentiment on the 3″ square. Add 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative Dots to the card front and the card is complete. Ready to send out and create a little joy in a special friends life!
