pinwheel card

pinwheel card

In amongst all the great ideas from last week’s swap was a pinwheel Halloween card from Lori V and I thought I would show you how to make that – it is pretty easy and so I made one of my own to give you all the details!

Measurements:
BASE: Night of Navy 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Misty Moonlight Layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed
(4) 1 1/4″ squares embossed
Balmy Blue CS: (2) 2 5/8″ squares
scrap for sentiment piece
DSP: (4) 1 1/4″ squares

Emboss the Misty Moonlight layer and the 1 1/4″ squares in the Distressed Tile 3D embossing folder.
Place the first 2 5/8″ Balmy Blue square on grid paper and place the points of the diamond on one of the grid lines – then place the other square over the first and glue down to the diamond so that the end result looks like the photo below (the grid paper will allow you to glue the second square evenly over the rotated diamond.
For the first 1 1/4″ DSP square place one dot of glue only on the upper left hand side of the back of the square.
Adhere to the top left hand corner of the upper square.
(In the second photo I am pointing to the only corner of the DSP that should be adhered down – this will leave the left hand side of the DSP square to be lifted up which will allow you to tuck the last square under this one to complete the pinwheel effect)
Place the first embossed square over the top point and glue the entire square down to the Balmy Blue base as shown.
Glue the second DSP square to the upper right hand corner of the top square as shown in the photo below.
Adhere the second embossed square to the right hand point as shown in the photo below.
Adhere the third DSP square to the lower right hand corner of the top Balmy Blue square as shown in the photo below.
Adhere the third embossed square to the lower point as shown below.
Adhere the last DSP square to the bottom left corner of the Balmy Blue square as shown in the photo below.
Place glue on the back of the last embossed square and slip it under the first DSP square and glue it into place in the left hand point as shown below.
Glue down the first DSP square slap to the last embossed square and your pinwheel is complete!
Adhere the 4″ x 5 1/4″ embossed Misty Moonlight layer to the Night of Navy card base.
Using multipurpose glue adhere the pinwheel to the upper center of the embossed panel – the glue will work best because of the uneven surface and will get into the nooks and crannies to hold this piece on better!
Cut a piece of Misty Moonlight Inner Braid ribbon and adhere to the center bottom of the card.
Stamp a sentiment in Night of Navy ink on a Balmy Blue scrap and punch sides with a Banners Pick a punch. Pop up the sentiment onto Stampin’ Dimensionals.
Adhere the sentiment on top of the ribbon.
Add the Misty Moonlight Tinsel Gems three pack to the center of the pinwheel and across the card front and you are complete with a fun Pinwheel DSP card!

Try this with some DSP of your own – you can use two different DSP patterns and alternate or DSP and cardstock or two different colors of cardstock – the possibilities are endless. Now go and create some artwork of your very own -one stamp at a time!
