more color mondays – petal pink, balmy blue and soft sea foam

Today’s More Color Mondays color challenge features Petal Pink, Balmy Blue and Soft Sea Foam.

Today’s card features a very fun and sparkly technique – dyed Wink of Stella.

Measurements:
BASE: Balmy Blue CS: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Soft Sea Foam CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Petal Pink CS: scraps for dies
Basic White CS: scraps for dies

Always keep your Wink of Stella pens even when they dry out. If you unscrew the brush top and pry the black stopper out of the pen shaft you can fill the shaft with alcohol to re-wet the glitter left in the barrel. Put the black stopper back in and screw the pen top back in. Squeeze the tube to release the glitter inside onto a silicon mat. Squeeze one drop of ink refill onto the silicon mat. Mix the drop of ink refill with the glitter.

Cut the largest Spotlight of Nature dies in the Soft Sea Foam CS layer. Paint the edges of the die with the Soft Sea Foam tinted Wink of Stella glitter.

After painting the edges of the die place it back inside the layer.
Mix another squeeze of glitter with Petal Pink ink refill.

Splatter the Soft Sea Foam layer with the Petal Pink tinted glitter.

Adhere the Soft Sea Foam layer to the balmy Blue card base.
Stamp two flowers on Petal Pink CS in Petal Pink ink and paint the petals with the tinted Petal Pink glitter.

Die cut a smaller Spotlight on Nature die in Basic White CS. Stamp the “Sending HAPPY thoughts” from the upcoming Sending Salutations stamp set from the new catalog debuting on May 5th. Paint the word HAPPY in the Petal Pink tinted Wink of Stella.

Adhere the pink flowers to the Soft Sea Foam layer.

Mix more glitter from the Wink of Stella paint brush and a drop of Balmy Blue ink refill.

Paint the petals of the flower from the Gallery Bloom stamp bundle.

Paint the leaves with the Soft Sea Foam tinted Glitter.
Adhere the Pink flowers under the Balmy Blue flowers – pop up the blue flowers onto Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Adhere the sentiment under the blue flowers.

Adhere the Pearls of Beauty around the card.

Adding tint to the Wink of Stella adds beautiful sparkly glitter! Try this technique and create some sparkling artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

This card is called a Pop Out Swing Fun Fold and i will show you how easy it is to make!
Follow along and make one of your own!

Measurements:
BASE 1: Balmy Blue CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
BASE 2: Balmy Blue CS: 5 1/2″ x 8″
scored at 2″, 4″ and 6″
DSP: BASE 1 outside layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
BASE 2 inside layers: (3) 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White CS: 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
Pumpkin Pie CS: scraps for butterfly dies
Petal Pink CS: scraps for butterfly dies

Score BASE 1 at 4 1/4″ and BASE 2 at 2″, 4″, and 6″.

Adhere the 4″ x 5 1/4″ Everyday Skies DSP layer to the Balmy Blue BASE 1 card front.

Flip BASE 1 over and adhere one of the Beautiful Bokeh DSP strips to the left-hand edge of the backside.
Die cut the large base butterfly image from the Beautiful Butterflies bundle out of the card front – cutting through both layers on the front and the DSP on the back side.
On BASE 2, place the 5 1/2″ side of the paper at the top edge of the Stampin’ Trimmer, cut at 3/4″ down to the 2″ score line on each side of the paper. Then cut along the 2″ score line in between the cut lines. This will leave two tabs on the top and bottom of this BASE piece.
Adhere the other two 1 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ Beautiful Bokeh DSP pieces to the second and thrid panels of BASE 2.
Stamp and decorate the Basic White 1 3/4″ layer and adhere to the last panel of BASE 2.
Place Multipurpose liquid glue to the back side of panel 4 and adhere to the right-hand edge of BASE 1 making sure that the outside edges align.
Fold in between panels 2 and 3 and apply liquid glue to the tabs.

Clos ethe card front over the tabs and adhere to the back of the BASE 1 card front. If you lie the BASE 2 flat and bring the BASE 1 card front over it this will ensure that the card will close well after adhering.

With the card closed, apply liquid glue to the inside right panel, the part that is visible through the butterfly die cut out space.
Die cut the butterfly base in Pumpkin Pie CS.
Die cut the butterfly detail die in Petal Pink CS.
Adhere the detailed die to the base with Liquid Glue.
Adhere the completed butterfly die to the right-hand edge that has glue on it – laying the butterfly into the original die negative space.
Once dry this will allow the butterfly to “swing” as the mechanism opens and closes with the card!
I added two smaller butterflies to the inside of the card and Holographic Resin Dots to the outside of the card to finish it off with a llittle sparkle!

You can cut out the front of the card wish any shape! Try a die that you have on hand and see what artwork you can create – one stamp at a time!

more color mondays – color coach analagous colors

I’m in the process of designing a color theory class for this summer and I have been preparing by using our Color Coach tool to come up with different color combinations!
Today’s color combination is one of the four color theory combinations I will be teaching about: Analogous color combinations.
Analogous colors live adjacent to one another on the color wheel – they are similar in color and compliment each other – working well as a combination set of colors!

Today’s Analogous Color Combination for More Color Mondays color challenge features: Poppy Parade, Flirty Flamingo and Petal Pink.

Measurements:
BASE: Petal Pink CS: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″, 3″ x 4″ layer
Flirty Flamingo: 3 1/4″ x 4 1/4″ layer,
scrap for die
Poppy Parade CS: 2 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ strip and
scrap for die

Emboss the Poppy Parade strip with the Damask Designs embossing folder.
I wanted the design to pop a little so I took a Craft White ink pad and dragged it lightly over the embossed (raised) areas of the cardstock.
Adhere the embossed strips of cardstock to the left-hand side of the card base leaving about 1/8″ border on the left side.
Run the Petal Pink cardstock layer through the Stampin’ Cut and emboss with the partial cut die from the Beautiful Motifs die set. This embosses and partially die cuts the image so it remains attached to the cardstock and can be bent upwards to add depth and dimension to the card.
Adhere the Petal Pink layer to the 3 1/4″
x 4 1/4″ Flirty Flamingo layer.
Pop up the double layer onto the center of the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Die cut the Queen Anne’s Lace die from the Beautiful Motifs die set in both Flirty Flamingo and Poppy Parade card stock.

Adhere the Lace dies to the card front over the partial die cut with Multi-purpose Liquid glue.
Stamp the sentiment – normally I would have stamped this prior to adhering to the card – I thought I was going to stamp the sentiment onto a die cut but decided last minute to stamp it in the lower right-hand corner in Poppy Parade ink.
I adhered Pearl Basic Jewels to the card front to finish off the card. I love how this turned out! Try a new analogous color combination from your stash and go create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

Die cut the tressel die from the Linked Together die set – cut in half and attach to the upper right hand corner.

Stamp in Petal Pink ink the larger sprig from the Layering Leaves stamp set.
Punch out 2 sprigs and tuck under the Early Espresso strip.
Adhere 5 Basic Rhinestones on the card front to add a little bling. This color challenge was a stretch for me and it is always a creative exercise to create with set colors and these are not my favorite color combination and it was a challenge to design this card.
