happy valentine’s day

happy valentine’s day

Happy Valentine’s Day! Today’s blog post is all about a great combination technique – a baby-wipe watercolor paper technique.

Grab a wet baby wipe and add a few drops of re-inker. Rub in a circular motion applying ink to a portion of the watercolor paper. Repeat this with a new baby wipe and a new color, overlapping the previous color. I chose three colors for a berry milkshake effect – Flirty Flamingo, Berry Burst and Gorgeous Grape re-inkers.

Measurements:
BASE: Mambo Melon CS 5 1/2″ x 7 3/4″
scored at 4 1/4″
Basic White CS: 3 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ and
scraps for dies
Watercolor paper: 4 1/2″ x 5 1/2″

After the watercolor paper is completely dry, i die cut the ice cream scoops for the milkshake from the Share a Milkshake bundle.
I stamped the milkshake glass two step stamp in Mambo Melon and stamped off for the base portion.
I stamped the decorative glass portion of the base stamp in full strength Mambo melon ink and also stamped a straw and cherry as well.
Die cut all of the desired pieces for the card front.
Score the card base at 4 1/4″ and fold over so that the short side is at the front.

Stamp the Be My Valentine sentiment on the lower left hand corner in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Cut a 1″ x 5 1/2″ strip from the watercolor paper so you get all three colors and emboss it with the Basics 3D embossing folder.
Adhere to the right hand edge of the inside base of the card so that it peeks out when the card is closed.
Cut a 3 1/8″ x 5 1/2″ Basic White cardstock layer for the inside of the card to the left of the 1″ strip.
Stamp the “You’re the cherry on top” sentiment in mambo melon ink on the upper center of the layer and adhere to the inside of the card.
Start adhering the dies to the front of the card – make sure you place the glass image low enough to accommodate the amount of ice cream scoops you die cut!
I adhered the ice cream scoops in a gradient effect and placed the straw on the bottom scoop and the cheery on the top!
I added Opaque Adhesive-Backed Gems to finish off the card!
Now to write a sweet note to the love of my life – SHHHHHHH don’t tell him I snuck it into his backpack last night so he’ll find it today at work!

Hope you were able to create cards for those you love – it’s what this paper craft is all about!
If you didn’t yet and you have someone special that needs to hear it – go and create some artwork of your very own and let them know – one stamp at a time!

Happy Stampin’ and Happy Valentine’s Day!

double stepped pop out card

double stepped pop out card

This is a great fun fold for a special occasion! It is rather simple but the extra layer and mechanism make it extra special!

This Double Stepped Pop Out card was inspired by several versions I saw on pinterest and I adapted the measurements to my own version!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at
4 1/2″ and 2 1/8″ for a typical Z fold format
Boho Blue CS: (2) 2″ x 5 1/4″ embossed
DSP: inside piece 4″ x 5 1/4″
outside piece 2 1/2″ x 1/4″ for above words and 2 1/4″ x 2″ for under the word (these measurements will vary based on sentiment size)
Basic White: front piece: 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
inside step: 3″ x 4 1/2″
inside pop up mechanism 4″ x 3 3/4″
Berry Burst: 2 3/4″ x 4″
Lost Lagoon: 3″ x 4 1/4″

Emboss the two Boho Blue cardstock pieces with the Basics 3D embossing folder. Adhere the (2) 2″ x 5 1/4″ pieces of Boho Blue embossed cardstock to the smaller 2 1/8″ scored sections of the Z fold. Adhere the 4″ x 5 1/4″ DSP piece to the inside of the card as shown below.
Score the 3 3/4″ x 4″ piece of Basic White cardstock every 3/4″. Use the bone folder and burnish the score lines and adhere the fifth section to the first section making a box.
Adhere the box in the middle of the card against the inside score line – first adhering to the back of the card against the DSP.
Add adhesive to the left portion of the square and adhere to the left inside of the card by closing the card front down over the square.
Stamp the outside sentiment onto the smaller Basic White cardstock piece in the center upper portion and adhere the dsp sections around the sentiment. Adhere the white cardstock to the Berry Burst cardstock and adhere the Berry Burst section to the Lost Lagoon.
Stamp the larger white cardstock with the inside sentiment and leave at least an 1/8″ from the right edge so that the sentiment doesn’t peek out when the card is closed.
Adhere to the middle of the square pop out mechanism with Stampin’ Seal adhesive.
Close the card and place the front sentiment piece so that it is evenly bordered with the middle pop out section and adhere to the outermost Z fold section.
I added some Opaque adhesive backed Gems to the front sentiment piece and this is the finished card from a variety of angles!
Such a fun card and an easy fun fold!

Hope this inspired you to try it out and go and create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!

busy day – quick card

busy day – quick card

If you have followed me for a while you know we have spent the last year in remodeling our forever home on the lake and today was a busy one finishing up lots of unfinished little odds and ends. We are blessed with the best contractor in the area and I was excited to get all the items on our punch list completed. The most exciting of the little jobs left was our kitchen backsplash – we debated whether to do one at all so it was a last minute add in and not completed in the initial pass through – but today they finished it and it is gorgeous!
Here is a peak at that project and the quick card I made today in the midst of all that busyness! It’s a lovely glass subway tile in pearlescent whites, grays and beige- I LOVE IT!!!
The card is also set in a background of white, this time with 1/4″ scrap strips. I placed half of them consecutively in the 3D embossing folder Timeworn Type. Then I adhered alternating strips of embossed and plain strips down a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic Thick White cardstock scored in half at 5 1/2″. I then stamped the larger floral image in Smoky Slate on a Stylish Shapes circle die and the sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink (both from the Fitting Florets stamp set). I used a die from the same bundle Framed Florets in Silver Foil for the accent pieces and used the upcoming NEW embellishments – Opaque Adhesive-backed Gems (SNEAK PEAK) for the matching bling! I finished it off with the Gray Granite ribbon and there you have a quick and easy card for a busy day!
Hope you can sneak in a quick and easy card on your busy days because there is a great sense of accomplishment when you create your own art – one stamp at a time!
