hidden flap halloween card

hidden flap halloween card

I am not usually a Halloween-y girl but something about the Spooky Halloween Bundle caught my eye – adorable in it’s design I will use this in all my scrapbooking for my children’s pages that I am catching up on! and cute cards.

Today’s card is a hidden flap fun fold card and all of the easy to follow directions are below! Hope you try this easy fun fold card soon!

Measurements:
BASE: Pumpkin Pie CS: 4 1/4″ x 8 1/4″
scored at 2 3/4″
scrap larger than 2 1/4″ x 3 3/4″ for die cut
Granny Apple Green CS: 2 3/4″ x 8″
scored at 4″
Basic White CS: 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″
4″ x 5 1/4″
2 1/2″ x 4″
scrap for die cut figure
Basic Black CS: scraps for bat and house dies

Emboss the 4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2 1/2″ x 4″ pieces of Basic White cardstock with the So Swirly embossing folder.

Stamp the “Don’t Worry, Eat Sweets” sentiment on the smallest piece of Basic White CS. (I actually cut this photopolymer stamp in half instead of stamping one half and then the other – they are super easy to cut and piece back together when I want the longer straight saying in the future)

Score the Granny Apple Green layer in half at 4″ and adhere the stamped layer to the inside of this smaller card.

Die cut the smaller Pumpkin Pie layer with the Textured Notes die set and stamp the “No Tricks ALL TREATS” sentiment in Tuxedo Black Memento ink across the top of the piece.

Adhere the So Swirly embossed pieces to the inside and front flap of the card.

Adhere only the top third of the Pumpkin Pie die piece to the middle of the front flap of the card.

Die cut the Haunted House die in Basic Black scrap and two bats.

Adhere the house and one bat flying over the house about 3/4 of an inch from the bottom of the Granny Apple Green front of the smaller card.

Adhere the smaller Granny Apply Green card to the inside So Swirly embossed layer.

Close the card and make sure that the Pumpkin Pie layer is evenly bordered by the Granny Apple Green layer below.

Stamp Happy Halloween sentiment in Pumpkin Pie ink on the inside flap of the card.
When the card front is closed the Granny APple Green card below should be evenly spaced under the Pumpkin Pie die cut on the front flap.
Die cut one of the super sweet “monsters” from this set and color with watercolor pencils and brush with water to blend the pencil color.

Pop up the focal figure on Stampin’ Dimensionals and place on the Pumpkin Pie die cut below the sentiment.

Add the Frosted Iridescent Dots from the upcoming mini catalog release – available next week to the card front and this adorable Halloween card is finished!

This is a simple fun fold card and I hope you try it with your stash soon – now go and create some artwork of your very own one stamp ata time!

more color mondays – berry burst, coastal cabana and balmy blue

more color mondays – berry burst, coastal cabana and balmy blue

Have you noticed card sketches in the new Stampin’ Up! 2024-2025 Annual Catalog? I love the new catalog design and all the helpful hints and techniques – to me it seems that it is designed like a crafting magazine and I think this is our best design yet!

I picked out a card sketch for today’s More Color Mondays Color Challenge and the Full of Life Suite with the colors Berry Burst, Coastal Cabana and Balmy Blue.

Measurements:
BASE: Coastal Cabana CS 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
DSP: 3 1/2″ x 4 1/4″
Berry Burst: scraps for die cuts
Coastal Cabana: scraps for die cuts
Balmy Blue: scraps for die cuts

Sketches make putting a card together super easy! SO I picked out a sketch from page 22 in the new catalog – this page describes Basic Card Design! I picked the second to the last one in the bottom row. I cut my paper and a bunch of different die cuts and started to play with the sketch layout. You may notice that I started out with rectangular dies instead of the circles – just because the sketch has circle shapes in the design does NOT mean you have to use circles! This is the true nature of card sketches – they are the starting point, the springboard to get your own creative juices flowing!
In the end I did like the circle dies better for my card but I tried a bunch of combinations before I settled on what is to follow and sometimes that is the creative process!

I used the leaf stamp from the Full of Life stamp set and randomly stamped the leaves in Coastal Cabana ink on Coastal Cabana cardstock for a tone on tone look. (A tip I tell my customers in my classes – most times when I am stamping on an entire blank piece of cardstock I will stamp and look for a triangular pattern. This goes back to a design principle called the rule of thirds/threes this triangular shap is very pleasing to the eye and if you use it – it helps break that daunting empty page into a smaller section and you are only concentrating on where the next stamp is and not about the whole project!
I adhered the DSP to the card base at an angle and cut out the word friend in Balmy Blue and Coastal Cabana. I die cut the leaf die in Berry Burst and two circles from the Stylish Shapes die set in Balmy Blue and Berry Burst. I die cut the long sentiment piece in Coastal Cabana and stamped the sentiment on that piece.
I arranged and adhered the circle dies next over the Designer Series Paper layer.
I adhered the leaf die with glue to the upper circle die. I used the leaf as the embellishment – the sketch shows a ribbon and I substituted this die as the embellishment.
I popped up the sentiment piece and placed it in the middle of the two circles as in the sketch.
I layered the word dies together with glue and added them to the card over the Berry Burst lower circle.
I added 5 Iridescent Adhesive-Backed Discs 4 in the Berry Burst color and one in the blueish tint on the i in the friend word die!
The card is a simple and easy card sketch card!

library card class – a success

library card class – a success

One of the things I like best about being a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator is not the discount or being first to see and play with new product but the joy of watching people find their creative spirit in the art of creating something beautiful. That is what happened on Wednesday for my first card class in Western PA. The last year has been consumed with packing, moving, demolition and remodeling and I missed stamping with others. I was still stamping and creating (which I love) posting cards and tutorials on line, doing videos and hostessing classes on line but I missed the interaction between myself and other stampers. I missed teaching – and although I was rusty it was a success.
How could I tell it was a success – I left with VERY inky fingers and a lot of smiling faces of strangers that became friends and started to believe in their creative abilities!

Here are some pictures from the event and we have already scheduled the next two card classes!

January 25th 1-3 pm – we will begin the year with a Valentine’s card and 3 birthday cards for your friends and family’s upcoming special occasions. 2 cards for $5 all 4 cards for $10

February 22nd 1-3pm we will continue to learn new techniques and make some thank you and birthday cards 2 cards for $5 all 4 cards for $10

Here are the four card samples that we made together – all participants left with current catalogs, a four page tutorial for the cards we made, cards with envelopes and very big smiles!

Hope to see you all at the card classes in the new year!

It’s amazing the art you can create – one stamp at a time!

sneak peek – new mini catalog merchandise used to make a pretty panel window card

sneak peek – new mini catalog merchandise used to make a pretty panel window card

I am so excited to be able to give you a sneak peeks at the upcoming August to December mini catalog! This catalog debuts August 1st and I will be getting copies to all those that expressed interest or have purchased from me in the last year! This card is a paneled window card using the Harvest Suite (#156280). There are so many fabulous goodies in this suite and I have only used four of them on this card!
I used our Stampin’ Trimmer to cut a center section out of the card front.
I used a standard card size piece of Daffodil Delight card base (#119683) measuring 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and scored at 4 1/4″. I am scoring the card base in this first photograph! Using the lighter gray “blade” (remember lighter color means lighter impression – it only scores doesn’t cut) the darker gray blade is the cutting blade.
I started parallel to the 8 1/2″ side by cutting a 5 1/2″ long slice starting from the score line to the paper’s edge, 1 1/2 inches in from each side – only on one side of the score line – see photographs below.
Next turn the card base and place the score line on the cutting groove – place the cutting blade (the darker of the two blades) on the score line 1 1/2″ in from the side and cut towards the other cut line – stop when you connect to the opposite cut line – see photographs below. You will end up with a rectangular shape cut from the front panel of your card base.
Take a window sheet (#142314) and cut a piece slightly smaller than a 1/4 sheet of cardstock (3 15/16″ x 5 3/16″. Using Stampin’ Seal + (#149699) or Tear n’ Tape (#154031) along the inside surfaces of each 1 1/2″ piece of the cardfront. Adhere the window sheet to the inside of the cardfront. Then cut 2 pieces of DSP – I used the new coordinating Harvest Meadow 12″ x 12″ DSP (#156494) cut to 1 1/2″ x 5 3/16″ (cutting just slightly shorter than the cardstock will give you room at the fold)
I stamped the large flower image in Tuxedo Black Memento Ink (#132708) in the back center of the cardbase so the image can be visualized through the window panel!
Using the Mini Cut and Emboss machine I die cut the daisy image out of Basic Black cardstock (#121045) making a silhouette image. I adhered those two images to the outside front side panels .
Using one of the fabuloous new accessories in this gorgeous suite — the 3/8″ diamond weave ribbon (#156507) I dyed the ribbon a hue darker using the Crushed Curry ink (#147087) and a Sponge Dauber (#133773) (this ribbon is thick and full of depth and dimension – I would probably use a blending brush next time to color this ribbon (#153611)!
Stamping a sentiment from the Nature’s Harvest stamp set (#156495) onto Shimmery White Cardstock (#101910) and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) across the bottom of the window panel.
I was in too big of a hurry to finish the card I did not allow the ribbon to completely dry so the ink rubbed off on the card – HA! learn from my mistakes!! That is why I included the photos of the not so perfect card – I have been stamping for over 20 years and I still make and learn from my mistakes!!
I hope you enjoyed this sneak peek window panel card using some of the fabulous new products in the Harvest Meadow Suite Collection! Now off you go to create your own art – one stamp at a time!
