more color mondays – misty moonlight, pebbled path and gray granite

more color mondays – misty moonlight, pebbled path and gray granite

Well I just wasn’t done with this Pebbled Path color so i added it to my More Color Monday Color Challenge! I paired it with Gray Granite and Misty Moonlight which also has that gray dusky tone so they all work really well together!

Were you a coloring book girl when you were little – I was but it is tedious for many people and this card is a great way to use a stamp set without having to color the flowers – who knew that flowers look stunning in neutral shades of gray!!!

Measurements:
BASE: Pebbled Path 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Gray Granite layer 4″ x 5 1/4″
scraps of Misty Moonlight and basic White
for the sentiment

I stamped the long sentiment from Wonderful Thoughts in Misty moonlight on a scrap strip of Basic White and punched it using the Banners Pick a Punch on both ends.
Adhere it to a wider strip of Misty Moonlight and cut the edges in the Banners Pick a Punch as well to match the Basic White layer.
Stamp the large roses in Pebbled Path ink onto the Gray Granite layer.
Adhere the Misty Moonlight Inner Braided ribbon around the Gray Granite layer and pop up the sentiment piece on Stampin’ Dimensionals and adhere to the layer.
Adhere the Gray Granite layer to the Pebbled Path card base.
I added Iridescent Pearls to finish off the card but decided I wanted a butterfly! It is ok to redesign a card in the middle if it doesn’t look finished to you – feel free to experiment!
I moved the Pearls and added a butterfly that I colored with Misty Moonlight ink and a Blending Brush to finish the card!

Try a tone on tone look for your next creation – no go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

winter meadow back fold card

winter meadow back fold card

I saw this card this week on multiple demonstrators websites and it was such an easy fun fold I wanted to share it with you in my own design! It’s called a Back Fold card and it starts with a slightly different measurement but is very easy to put together!

Measurements:
BASE: Misty Moonlight 5 1/2″ x 7 1/2″
scored at 3 1/4″ and 6 1/2″
DSP: Winter Meadow layers (1) 3″ x 5 1/4″
(1) 3/4″ x 5 1/4″
Inside piece if base is colored cardstock:
Basic White 3″ x 5 1/4″
Scraps of Coordinating cardstock for dies

Cut an inch off the 8 1/2″ edge of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ cardstock. Score at 3 1/4″ and 6 1/2″
Adhere the 3/4″ x 5/14″ DSP to the 1″ inch panel as shown in photo below.
Fold card at 3 1/4″ score line inward and adhere the 3″ x 5 1/4″ DSP to the card front panel.
I cut a Basic White and DSP circle from the Stylish Shapes die set. Stamp the Winter Wishes sentiment from the Winter Meadow stamp set in Misty Moonlight on the DSP circle.
Cut dies from the Magical Meadow die set in Blueberry Bushel, Misty Moonlight and Smoky Slate.
Adhere the dies to the back of the DSP circle making sure they will fit within the 4 1/4″ parameters of the card.
Adhere the Basic White circle to the back of the DSP circle so it will have a finished look when bending the card to open.
Adhere ONLY the right side of the circle die to the 1″ panel of the card.
Bend the 1″ panel back to open the card.
Add Iridescent Pearls to the card front to finish off the pretty and easy fun fold card!

Now go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

wonderful wedding card

wonderful wedding card

Well tomorrow is a special day in our family, we gain a daughter and celebrate with a beautiful wedding for our eldest son! I wanted to make special cards for both my future daughter and my forever son! I talk about happy accidents all the time and I knew that I wanted to do an embossed silver and white on white card with vellum. I purchased the Painted Posies 3D embossing folder forever ago but never used it! So the very first time I used it was for these cards and it will always remind me of this special day! Happy Accident!

Measurements:
BASE” Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Vellum layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White scrap for the sentiment piece

Only a few items but I am so pleased with the finished product!

I wanted a smaller banner die that I had so I used the partial die cut process that I highlighted a while back. I used a scrap of Basic White cardstock and inked the Here’s to Beautiful Beginnings & Happily Every Afters sentiment in Versamark and sprinkled Silver embossing powder over it from our Metallics Embossing Powders pack.

Using a heat tool, I heat set the powder just until it melts creating a gorgeous embossed silver sentiment!
I used one of the banner dies from the Nested Essentials die set but I wanted it smaller to nestle around the sentiment so I die cut twice matching up the die edges to create a smaller banner!
I embossed the vellum layer with the absolutely gorgeous Painted Posies 3D embossing folder.
I placed Stampin’ Dimensionals behind the sentiment piece and added it to the Painted Posies embossed vellum layer and tied the White 1/2″ Iridescent ribbon below the sentiment.
Because vellum is tricky to attach without the adhesive showing I only placed adhesive on the back of the ribbon and behind the sentiment piece and adhered it to the base card!
I made one card for my future daughter with Iridescent Pearls.
I made my son’s card with the Iridescent Rhinestones.

Praying for a beautiful and memorable day!

Go and make a beautiful card today – one stamp at a time!

the art of shading – using blending brushes part one

the art of shading – using blending brushes part one

Color and shading can create beautiful variations in color. Shading can be created in many ways and over the next few posts I will detail different ways to create variations of color.

One way to create shading and variations of color is by using blending brushes.
I inked the smaller flower image from the Artistically Inked stamp set with the Pale Papaya ink.

Rubbing the stamp surface with the Positive Pink ink from a Blending Brush in the center of the stamp on top of the Pale Papaya ink.
The top left image shows the difference between shading the stamp’s center with the Blending Brush directly onto the rubber and dabbing the color directly onto the paper after stamping the flower in only the original Pale Papaya color. The color shading on the other five is distinctly more vibrant than the one on the upper left.
Fold a 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of Polished Pink CS scored in half at 4 1/4″. On the Basic White 4″ x 5 1/4″ CS layer, burnish the Polished Pink ink in a circular motion onto the Basic White CS layer. Adhere the layer onto the folded Polished Pink base layer.
Die cut the large flower image in Basic white CS. Stamp the larger flower in Pale Papaya and using a Blending Brush in Polished Pink in the center. Die cut three smaller flowers and the larger flower.
Adhere the larger flower to the large white die cut.
Adhere the die and flower to the center of the white layer, in the center of the Polished Pink burnished area.
Adhere the smaller flowers in three of the corners.
Using a 1/4″ strip, stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment in Polished Pink. Use a Blending Brush to color the strip.
Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the sentiment piece.
Add the sentiment piece to the card over the flower.
Add the Iridescent Pearls to the card.
Adding color in different ways can add depth and dimension to a stamped image. Try this form of shading and create your own art – one stamp at a time!
