out of the box stamping

out of the box stamping

Using a stamp in an unexpected way is so much fun. Many times the abstract stamps in a stamp set can be used in multiple ways! Today I am using the “hill” stamp as a swath of color being “painted” from the paint brush from the Trusty Tools stamp set.

Measurements:
Bases: Azure Afternoon 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Lemon Lime Twist 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Crushed Curry 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Basic White 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Layer: Basic Black 4 1/8″ X 5 3/8″
Azure Afternoon 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″
Berry Burst 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic White (3) 4″ x 5 1/4″
3 3/4″ x 5″

On a 4″ x 5 1/4″ Basic White layer stamp multiple paint brushes in Tuxedo Black Memento ink.

Using the hill image from the Hills of Tuscany stamp set I stamped in colors of Rainbow order:
Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel and Gorgeous Grape ink. Cleaning the stamp in between colors.
Using tghe light version of the corresponding Stampin’ Blends and Highland Heather for the Gorgeous Grape color, I colored the tips of the paint brush to make the brush look as if it was just dipped into that color paint.
Using eh Pecan Pie Light and Dark stampin’ Blends markers I first colored the brush handle with the Light marker, highlighted with the Dark marker and filled in with the Light marker again to blends the shading.
I stamp ed the words Hip Hip Hooray from the Good Feelings stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and mounted on a 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ layer of Basic Black card stock.
I added some Tinsel Gems three pack around the sentiment.
I mounted this layer onto a Basic White cardfront.

Here are some other samples using slightly different colors and backgrounds.

Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Calypso Coral and Crushed Curry make a background with a sunset vibe!

This next sample uses Azure Afternoon, Lemon Lime Twist, Gorgeous Grape and Berry Burst. and is accented with the Adhesive Backed Glitter Sequins.
This last sample uses the same colors as the previous sample with a different sentiment and different colors and sizes of cardstock. Isn’t it amazing how the look of the card changes with just those simple changes!

Try to look through your stamps and see what stamps you have that can be used for some out of the box stamping! Go and create some unique projects of your very own – one stamp at a time!

double point fun fold card

double point fun fold card

At first when you see the Bright and Beautiful Suite Collection and the stamp set – all you might see if balloons and birthday celebration cards – but I urge you to look again and look beyond!

This easy fun fold today uses no balloons – still a celebration card but no birthday vibes in this card! I opted to use the Good Feelings set for the sentiment but could have easily used a few in the Beautiful Balloons stamp set to achieve the same effect!

Measurements:
Base: Boho Blue CS: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Basic White CS: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Bright and Beautiful DSP (2) 3″ x 4″ pieces
extra scrap of both colors for the star cut outs.
and a Basic White scrap for the largest square die cut from the Stylish Shapes die set.

Die cut the largest square and stamp the Hip Hip Hooray from the Good Feelings stamp set in Boho Blue ink and then color with a Blending Brush and more Boho ink.

Cut the two DSP 3″ x 4″ pieces and score at one inch if there is a pattern make sure that the pattern will be right side up and score 1 inch down from the top for the piece being attached to the top and 1 inch from the bottom for the piece being attached to the bottom of the card.

Fold at both score lines.

Fold the opposite end of the DSP from the score in towards the score line so the point meets up with the score line and forms a triangle.
Adhere this side down with Tear N Tape.
Fold the other side in to meet the edge of the other triangle and the score line – these two will form a triangle with a 1 inch edge. Adhere that second side down with Tear N Tape.
Adhere the 1 inch strip to the back of the Basic White cardstock piece and do the same with the other triangular piece making sure if there is a directional pattern that you place them so the directional pattern is upright.
Adhere this double point piece to the Boho Blue card base.
Die cut Basic White and Boho Blue stars out and afix them around the sentiment piece.
Adhere the sentiment piece to the top piece placing tape or glue to the tip of the top outside point and a fix the sentiment piece so that it lies in the center of the two pointed DSP pieces.
Adhere just the bottom half of a small star to the bottom pointed piece as a way to tuck the sentiment piece behind it to help this fun fold remain closed and add three Adhesive Backed Solid Gems in the lighter blue to coordinate with the Boho color!
Hope this inspires you to go and create some art of your very own today – remember just one stamp at a time and the creating will be fun and easy!

rays of light card

rays of light card

Today’s card is a simple stamping card – fast and delightful…I spend the last few days packing up and moving our youngest son home from college with the help of his older brother and all the while feeling a little under the weather soooooo…. I wanted to get you all a fun cheery card today – one that was bright but also easy!

Measurements:
BASE: Crushed Curry CS 5 1/2 x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Basic White CS : 4″ x 5 1/4″

Attach the Rays of Light background stamp to our largest acrylic block and apply Crushed Curry ink to the entire surface.

I like to place the Basic White cardstock on my work surface and stamp the image rubbing all sides of the stamp through the acrylic block then turn it over and rub the backside of the paper gently as to not dislodge the paper from the stamp and make sure all of the ink has transferred to the paper.

Using Tuxedo Black memento ink and the sentiment from the Good Feelings stamp set. I stamped this large sentiment in the lower left hand corner of the Basic White cardstock.
With a Blending Brush and Poppy Parade ink apply ink to the edges.
I love these Iridescent Pastem Gems and added three of them to the cardfront for extra bling.
Attach the Basic White card stock to the Crushed Curry card base.
Cards do not always have to take up loads of time or effort – this is a fun, bright and cheerful card that took no time at all to create and will brighten a friends day! Hope you enjoy some crafting time today and go and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!
