more color mondays – poppy parade, daffodil delight and basic black

Well week’s pass by so quickly these days and the summer is flying by! Today is another More Color Monday color challenge and this challenge is bright and cheery like the summer itself! Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight and Basic Black for bold contrast!

Measurements:
BASE: Daffodil Delight 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″
scored at 4 1/4″
Daffodil Delight embossed layer 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic Black layer : 2 pieces of 4″ x 5 1/4″ for die
cuts
Basic White layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″ for die cut

Die cut the Basic White layer with the 4th largest deckle rectangle die. Using the Daffodil Delight ink and a Blending Brush apply ink to one half of the die cut card stock.
Using Poppy Parade ink and another Blending Brush apply ink on the other half of the Basic White die cut overlapping the Daffodil Delight area to blend the colors.
Squeeze ample water into the brush of a Water painter and insert the brush tip into the cap and flick water droplets onto the cardstock. The water droplets will dry and lighten the ink color and create a distressed look that I love!
Die cut one of the Basic Black pieces of card stock with the second largest frame die from the scalloped contours die set. Adhere the colored white cardstock onto Basic Black frame die.
Stamp the Happy Birthday sentiment on the bottom of the colored cardstock from the Artistically inked stamp set in Tuxedo Black memento ink.
Emboss the Daffodil Delight layer with the Basics 3D embossing folder that looks like starfish and mount that onto the card base.
Add Stampin’ Dimensionals to the black frame die cut and adhere to the embossed layer.
Die cut the flower image from the Artistic dies and adhere with Multi purpose glue to the card. The background is so colorful and dynamic that I choose the black gems from the Adhesive-backed sparkle gems for contrast. I hope this card inspires you to try this color combination if you do please visit today’s facebook post and share a picture of your artwork with us all!

Now go and create some artwork of your very own – one stamp at a time!

Off to mail this beautiful card to my younger sister for her birthday today! Happy Birthday Emmie!

two tone flora die card

two tone flora die card

Today’s blog post is all about the large die in the Two Toned Flora bundle – I eyed this die for the longest time and finally broke down and bought it – I like the set a lot more then I thought I would the two step stamping gives the flowers so much depth and dimension but it is this large die that first caught my attention! I have seen it with darker colored cardstock in the background but I had an idea to do a tri-color watercolor wash and I LOVE the way this turned out – so I am going to teach you how to do it!

Measurements:
BASE: Flirty Flamingo 4 1/4″ x 11
scored at 5 1/2″
Basic White: (2) 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ scrap for the
sentiment piece
Window sheet

Set out a window sheet, I used half a sheet and grab three colors of Stampin’ Blends markers – I used Dark Poppy Parade, Dark Flirty Flamingo and Dark Daffodil Delight.

Literally scribble lines on the window sheet, I started with the Poppy Parade. Probably would be better to start with the lightest color and go in the opposite order as I did. I was careful not to cross contaminate the colors but going lightest to darkest is better in case you are not careful and run your Daffodil Delight into a scribble of Poppy Parade!
Scribble lines of your next color – Flirty Flamingo.
Scribble your last color – mine was Daffodil Delight.
Spray generously with 99% Isopropyl Alcohol until the individual lines of the colors start to blur and mix.
Lay the paper into the alcohol mixture and pat all points on the paper so it absorbs the ink and alcohol mixture all over the cardstock
Wipe off the window sheet and if the color is too light or you missed spots or it is not to your liking YET…add more colors to the window sheet and reapply alcohol and apply the cardstock.
Cut the die to 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ and apply glue the back and glue the alcohol wash piece to the large die.
Cut the two pieces down to 4 1/8″ x 5 3/8″ and adhere to the card base.
Add ribbon (this is a ribbon that is discontinued sorry!)
Use the Iridescent Pastel Gems to the card front.
I used a sentiment die from the Sentimental Park die set and stamped with Flirty Flamingo ink and the sentiment is from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set. I water colored the flowers on the die cut with a water painted and Flirty Flamingo ink and popped it up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

hello irresistible 3 panel scenic z fold card – new online exclusives start today

This month starts a brand new program for Stampin’ Up! called Online Exclusives – sometimes waiting for the next new catalog to come out is just not soon enough for brand new stamp sets and collections.
This will be the first of many upcoming Online exclusive products and this one is a great one to start off with!
Today, March 1st, the “Hello Irresistible” Online exclusive products Suite becomes available!
This suite of products includes lovely Designer Series paper in 6 x 6, a stamp set and coordinating dies and Loose Frosted dots in 3 different colors each in three different sizes! Also being released today are Basics 3D Embossing Folders set of 3, another gorgeous gilded foil Specialty 12″ x 12″ DSP, and an alphabet stamp set. Information and order numbers at the end of this post!
The 6 x 6 Hello Irresistible DSP is one of those you hate to cut apart because it makes such a beautiful scene so I created a card that I saw 3 years ago from one of my favorite creative ladies – Rachel T. – thanks for all the years of inspiration you give me and many others!
This card is called a scenic panel card or a 3 panel scenery z fold.

Start with a base card of 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″, score at 4 1/4″ and 1 1/2″. crease the card in half like a normal card and then crease at the 1 1/2″ mark in the opposite direction like a typical Z fold card.
Cut the 6″ x 6″ DSP across the top of the pattern to make the paper 6″ wide by 5 1/2″ tall. Cut the paper on the 6″ side into three sections, keeping the sections in order. from the left hand side cut at the 2 3/4″, then 1 1/8″ and then the last one will be 2 1/8″.
Cut a Daffodil Delight at 1 13/16″ x 5 1/4″.
And have extra scrap Daffodil Delight for the die cut embellishment.

Place the 2 1/8″ DSP piece just to the right of the middle score line. Adhere it down with liquid glue to give you a little wiggle room to straighten it out.
Adhere the 1 1/8″ about 1/8″ to the left of of the 4 1/4″ score line.
Place tape on the front flap leaving a 1/4″ border around the outside edge.
Adhere the last DSP piece to the front flap leaving a 1/8″ border around the outside.
Adhere the colored cardstock to the right side leaving a 1/8″ border all around.
Stamp the hello sentiment and the smaller flower in Flirty Flamingo ink from the Hello, Irresistible stamp set.
Adhere Loose Frosted Dots to the card.
Adhere the die cut to the front flap.
I think this DSP paper is great used for scenic landscape use.
Below are some other samples using this lovely Designer Series paper. This paper and stamp bundle are online exclusives starting today!
Hope you like the card – now it is your turn to create your own art – one stamp at a time!
