more color mondays – swing and sway in poppy parade, crushed curry and copper clay

Merry Christmas everyone!! I hope you had a great morning filled with lots of fun and I’m glad you are able to sneak away for a little crafting time!

Today’s More Color Monday Color Challenge is a very fun movement card as well!

This Swing and Sway card is inspired by fellow demonstrator Susan C. and I loved her card so i decided to make my own version with the upcoming Trusty Tools bundle in the 2024 January to April Mini Catalog and the coordinating DSP is something you can EARN FOR FREE during Sale-a-bration coming in January and February!

Measurements:
BASE: Poppy Parade CS 5 1/2″ x 10 1/4″
scored at 4 1/4″, 7 1/4″ and 9″
embossed layer: 1″ x 5 1/4″
mechanism piece: 1/2″ x 2″
DSP layers: 2 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ and 2″ x 5 1/4″
scraps for tool cut outs
Basic White layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
scrap for sentiment
Holographic Trio scrap for wrench die cut
Oxidized Copper Specialty paper: scrap for peg
board die cut

Score the 5 1/2″ x 10 1/4″ card at 4 1/4″, 7 1/4″ and 9″. Fold into a mountain fold at the 4 1/4″ score line and the 9″ score line. Fold into a valley fold at the 7 1/4″ score line.
Place the Basic White layer on the inside of the card. Fussy cut a small tool and adhere to the bottom right corner of the Basic White cardstock layer.
On the inside of the card, adhere the 2″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP in the second panel from the left edge.
Adhere the 3″ x 5 1/4″ piece of DSP on the outside of the card just to the left of the center 4 1/4″ fold.
Run the 1″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Poppy Parade cardstock through the Geometric Patterns embossing folder in the triangular pattern andadhere to the outside 1 1/4″ edge of the card.
Place a small Stampin’ Dimensional about 3/4″ from the top edge.
Die cut the 1/2″ x 2″ mechanism piece with the reinforcer circles from the Tailor Made Tags Dies set. Place the mechanism over the Stampin’ Dimensional.
Die cut the peg board out of the Oxidized Copper Specialty paper and fussy cut two tools from the DSP. Die cut the wrench out of the Holographic trio specialty paper to look like metal.
Adhere the tools to the peg board die and adhere the mechanism to the back of the peg board with the circle sticking out above the top end about 3/4 of an inch.
Peel the backing paper off of the Mini Stampin’ Dimensional.

Stamp the sentiment in Copper Clay ink on a 1/2″ strip of Basic White paper.

Punch the sentiment piece with the Banners pick a punch and adhere to the Stampin’ Dimensional.
Because the sentiment piece is only adhered to the Stampin’ Dimensional and the peg board die piece hangs freely around the Stampin’ Dimensional inbetween the peg board piece and the card it hands and swings and sways with ease!
Such a fun and interactive card!

Try this fun fold movement card with what you have in your stampin’ stash!

more color mondays – wild wheat, lost lagoon and pool party

more color mondays – wild wheat, lost lagoon and pool party

Not only is it another More Color Monday but it is also a sneak peak at another fabulous 2024 Sale-a-bration 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper offering for Level One. That means starting January 4th, for every $50 spent you can earn one Level One item offered in the Upcoming Sale-a-bration catalog and if you are already a customer of mine you will be getting one in the mail soon along with the new 2024 January to December Mini catalog!
The awesome thing about Designer Series Paper is that the concept artists at Stampin’ Up! have already done all the work for you – not only in designing gorgeous DSP but the color coordination that Stampin’ Up! is famous for.
I picked three of the colors in this new DSP and ran with it for today’s color challenge! Wild Wheat, Lost Lagoon and Pool party take center stage for today’s More Color Monday sneak peak!

Measurements:
BASE: Pool Party CS 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
DSP 3 3/4″ x 5 1/4″ – cut at 1″ and 2 3/4″
Scraps of Basic white for stamp and die cutting
and sentiment piece
Lost Lagoon scraps for dies & sentiment matte

Most of the time Stampin’ Up! coordinates the A and B sides of their Designer Series Paper so if you cut and flip you can use both sides together and the color coordination is perfect!
This is a cut and flip card – take the two 1″ x 5 1/4″ strips and adhere them to the outside edges of the card front leaving an equal 1/8″ border on top, bottom and outside edges.
Adhere the opposite side of the DSP to the middle leaving an even border on all sides.
Such an easy and dramatic start to the card!
Place a strip of tape on the card across the area you want to place your sentiment piece.
Cut about 10-12 inch piece of the new Faux Leather Trim (which you will see in the upcoming mini catalog in the Nature’s Sweetness suite) and adhere in a loopy back and forth pattern.
Stamp the sentiment from the coordinating stamp bundle Stippled Rose in Lost Lagoon and matte onto coordinating Lost Lagoon card stock.
Adher with Stampin’ Dimensionals on top of the Leather Trim accent.
Die cut a few of the sprigs from the Stippled Rose die set and stamp in Pool Party the leaf sprig twice from the Stippled Rose stamp set and die cut. I cut one of these stamped leaf sprig in half to better accommodate my design.
Arrange the sprigs under the sentiment piece to your liking and adhere using mini glue dots
Add Adhesive-Backed milky Dots to finish off the card in perfect color coordination and your More Color Monday card is complete!

Just a reminder this is a sneak peak post so not all of the products mentioned are available until January 4th so the picture links below will not contain these items!

Try your hand at this easy DSP card in the meantime and plan on seeing some of these great new products first hand in January at my Sale-a-bration Open House. pretty pleats card sneak peak

pretty pleats card sneak peak

Isn’t this paper awesome and what is better than awesome – FREE! Yep you can earn this paper for FREE starting on January 4th through February 29th! Our annual Sale-a-bration is back and will be better than ever!

Today’s tutorial is inspired by a very creative demonstrator in my indirect line named Susan C., she creates a lot of unique fun folds and this is one I worked out my own measurements for using our new sale-a-bration DSP called Flight and Airy!

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
Layers: (2) 2 1/2″ x 3 3/4″ will emboss these
(1) 3 3/4″ x 5″
Boho Blue CS Layers: (2) 2 3/4″ x 4″
(1) 4″ x 5 1/4″
DSP: 1″ x 5 1/4″ and 4″ x 6″

Emboss the Basic White layers in the Painted Posies 3D embossing folder.
Layer the large layer onto the 4″x 5 1/4″ Boho Blue layer.
Score the 4 1/4″ x 11″ base at 5 1/2″.

Adhere those layers to the card front.

Adhere the DSP 1″ layer to the card front.
Add three Brushed Brass Butterflies to the card front above the embossed posies.
Adhere the smaller embossed Basic White layers to the 2 3/4″ x 4″ pieces of Boho Blue cardstock.
Adhere each layer to the outside edges of the inside of the card leaving an evenly spaced border of about 1/8″ around the top sides and bottom edges.
Score the 4″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper on the 6″ side at 1 3/4″ 3″ and 4 1/4″. Fold the 1 3/4″ score line into a Valley fold, the 3″ score line into a Mountain fold and the 4 1/4″ into a Valley fold, (it will look like a W from the side).
Adhere the left hand edge of the DSP to the right hand side of the embossed layer on the left side of the card. Evenly space the DSP about 1/8″ from the top and bottom and from the right hand edge of the Boho Blue cardstock edge.
Adhere the right hand panel down in the same way on the other side of the card making sure that the edges top, bottom and the right hand edge are about 1/8″ spaced evenly apart.
I wanted to use the Best Birthday Wishes sentiment from one of our upcoming stamp sets in the new mini catalog also available January 4th called Stippled Rose. It was longer than my thin banner die in Stylish Shapes so I used a technique called partial die cutting to extend the die. I have detailed this technique before but basically I stamped the image and then lined up the cutting plate about halfway along the die and only cut half of it then I reversed the cutting plate to the other side and moved the die and extended the middle – it’s like pulling taffy! It stretches the die not technically but it allows you to cut each side separately and extend the middle portion!
I added some color around the edges with Boho Blue ink and a blending brush and popped the sentiment piece up on Stampin’ Dimensionals and added it over the 1″ strip of Flight and Airy DSP on the card front to finish off the front of the card!
The card stands on it’s own for display which is VERY COOL!
I added some Brushed Brass Butterflies to the side panels to finish off the inside display! I love the way this turned out!

Try this new fun fold today with some of the paper you have around! Go create some art of your very own – one stamp at a time!
