Do you ever wonder what to do with all your extra cardstock or Designer Series paper strips – this is a fun technique to use up all those strips! Start with coordinating strips of DSP or cardstock in complimentary colors – in this example all the strips are 1/2″ in width but they can easily be differing widths  and a sheet of copy paper. For this sample I used the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series paper (#154568).

Adhere the strips to the sheet of copy paper and glue the strips tightly together so there is no white showing through the two strips.
Measure the final width of the strips. Using the Stampin’ Trimmer (#152392) cut off any visible copy paper. Turn the paper 90 degrees and cut into a square by cutting equal to the previous measurement. Example: these strips are all 1/2″ in width – 6 strips = 3 inches – I turned the paper 90 degrees and cut at 3 inches so I will end up with a 3 inch square.
Position the square with two of the corner points in the cutting track and cut the square in half into 2 triangles (Never cut into a corner point this is a fragile point in the paper – start in the middle of the paper and slide the cutting blade out towards the corners in both directions starting from the middle)
Take the 2 triangles and position the flat side of the triangle on a vertical mark on the Trimmer and the point in the cutting groove and cut starting from the flat side and move the blade towards the point.
You will now have four squares. Arrange them in a pleasing design – depending on how you arrange the triangles you will get different looks.
Mount on a piece of Basic White (#159276) or coordinating colored cardstock with a small border around each of the triangles and trim in paper trimmer around the perimeter with the same separation as the inside of the triangle separation.
to add a little dimension to this project I ran the square through my Stampin’ Cut and Emboss and embossed it with the Tasteful Textile 3D Embossing Folder (#152718)
I added Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon (#146912) around the middle of this square and added Stampin’ Dimensionals (#104430) to the back to pop this focal piece up on the card base.
I mounted this onto upper middle portion of a Pear Pizzazz (#131201) 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ piece of card stock scored at 4 1/4″

Using the Ice Cream Cone Builder Punch (#154241) from the Sweet Ice Cream Bundle (#156244) and the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Sweet Ice Cream stamp set (#154456) in Tuxedo Black Memento ink (#132708) I finished the card. I added a few of the light blue sequins from the Artistry Blooms Sequins pack (#152477)! Because this is a photopolymer set and I am stamping the sentiment on different levels of paper (both on the base cardstock and an extra piece of DSP where the cone is I used a Stampin’ Pierce Mat (#126199) under the stamping surface to give some extra cushion so the sentiment would be able to stamp on both layers. Hope this gives you some new ideas for using those strip scraps and to go out and create some art – one stamp at a time!

Happy Stampin’
