Today is all about a new color challenge for More Color Monday and it is a bright combination of Pretty Peacock, Berry Burst and Fresh Freesia!
Last Friday in the Guys swap blog post their was a card I loved that incorporated a faux layer technique and I knew it would be perfect for this color challenge and what I had planned for my own card and version of that technique!

Measurements:
Base: Pretty Peacock 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ scored at
4 1/4″ and 2 1/8″
Basic White Layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
scrap for die cutting: Pretty Peacock and Fresh
Freesia
Stick pieces of 3M sticky notes straight along the left hand border of the Basic white layer and then another Sticky note perpendicular along the bottom edge of the layer. You can use our Masking paper ((#155480) this is bigger and perfect for this use but I did not have any on hand!
I started with the darker color of Berry Burst and a blending brush and starting off the page in a circular motion I burnished the color along the edge of the masking paper/sticky notes.
I added Fresh Freesia ink with another Blending Brush and blended the color from the edge of the Berry Burst towards the inside of the Basic White piece, leaving white and not coloring all the way to the edge.
Keep adding color to the Basic White layer until the color intensity suits you.
When the color is as dark as you wish, remove the masking paper/sticky notes.

I stamped the large daisy outline stamp from the Cherrful Daisies stamp set in Versamark on Fresh Freesia cardstock multiple times and added clear embossing powder to the sticky Versamark ink. Using our Heat Tool, I heated the embossing powder and melted it to create a tone on tone embossed image. Using a water painter and some Fresh Freesia ink from the ink pad lid, I water colored the flower petals for a soft colored look. After the petals were dry, I used a Berry Burst Stampin’ Blend marker with the bullet end and copied over the outlines of the petals. I watercolored with Berry Burst ink in the flower centers and then die cut the images with the Cheerful Daisies dies.
I die cut the fern leaf twice out of Pretty Peacock cardstock and adhered the first daisy die cut directly to the Basic White colored layer in the right hand side of the colored section. I also adhered one fern die under the flower.
I added a second fern to the back of the second flower and added Stampin’ Dimensionals to the back of the flower and adhered it to the left hand side of the lower colored section.
I added adhesive to the front flap of the Pretty Peacock Z fold card and adhered to the Basic White decorated panel to the front of the Z fold card.
I added Glossy Dots to the card front to add a little coordinating color and sparkle.
Lastly I added Wink of Stella to the petals and flower centers on the card to give it one final punch of sparkle!
Here is a close up of the flowers with Wink of Stella added – the sparkle is fine and lovely but difficult to photograph – I wish you could see the flower petals in person – they sparkle and shine so beautifully!
