exploring luster paper

exploring luster paper

I am one of those people that LOVES glitter – don’t care that it is messy just love the sparkle! But if you can get the sparkle without the mess even better right? I love Wink of Stella for that reason but the new 2023-2025 In Color 12″ x 12″ Luster Specialty paper is next level – all the sparkle and shimmer with none of the mess!

The Boho Blue Luster paper brought to mind the shimmer of the water and I just knew that I wanted to make a Waves of Inspiration card!

Measurements:
Base: Azure Afternoon 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Luster paper: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Basic white Layer inside: (2) 4 ” x 5 1/4″
scraps for wave, cloud sentiment and bird
dies

Using the third largest Deckled Frame die cut one of the Basic White layers. Adhere a window sheet to the frame.
Die cut the card front with the same size deckle Frame die. Add the White frame/Window Sheet side inside to the inside of the card front covering the opening you just made.
Die cut the same frame in the Luster paper layer and using the inside part of the die cut a wave die from the left over inside square.
Die cut out of Basic White scraps, 2 clouds, 4 birds, 1 wave.
Stamp the sentiment and die cut the sentiment piece.
Adhere the Boho Blue Luster paper wave over the window sheet and then glue the white wave over the blue one. You will need to trim the edges to fit under the Boho Blue Luster frame.
Add a pencil mark where the wave edge should be to match up on the Basic White Cardstock inside layer and then stamp the wave from the Waves of Inspiration stamp set onto the white layer.
Adhere the layer to the inside of the card.
I added Wink of Stella to the inside wave – it is impossible to photograph the subtle sparkle of the wave but trust me it is fabulous!
Adhere the Luster paper frame to the outside of the card covering the wave edges and add the clouds and birds to the frame around the edges.
Add three Tinsel Four-pack gems to the card front.
Add the sentiment piece to the center bottom of the outside luster frame and the card is complete. I LOVE the shine!!

creating ink blended backgrounds

creating ink blended backgrounds

What is my absolute favorite tool in the entire catalog – hands down it is our Blending Brushes! NO QUESTION! These super soft brushes make ink blending a breeze and I use them ALL the time.

Measurements:
BASE: Basic White 4 1/4″ x 11″ scored at 5 1/2″
Shaded Spruce layer: 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
scrap of Basic White for the sentiment
scraps of Crumb Cake for the monkey punches

Pick three colors of ink – I chose Granny Apple Green, Old Olive and Shaded Spruce.

Start with the lightest color, Granny Apply Green and blend in patches over the front of the card base.

Use a fresh Blending Brush and blend additional patches of Old Olive around the card base.
Fill in the white spaces with the last color of Shaded Spruce. Frankly it will look like a hot mess and you will be tempted to throw it away LOL but be patient it will look fabulous under the Gorgeous garden die!
Take the Shaded Spruce layer and die cut the leaves die from the Gorgeous Garden die set.
Adhere the die cut to the card base.
Stamp the sentiment from the Little Monkeys stamp set in Early Espresso ink. Stamp two monkeys from the same stamp set on Crumb Cake cardstock in Early Espresso ink.
Punch out the monkeys with the Monkey Builder punch and fussy cut the sentiment out with your paper snips. These knife edged scissors are well worth the $11 asking price, they cut all the way to the tip making fussy cutting a breeze!
Arrange the monkeys and the sentiment on the die cut surface of the card front.
Adhere the monkeys with liquid glue to the die cut and pop up the sentiment in the middle with Mini Stampin’ Dimensionals!

What a great and easy card! Try this technique with whatever colors you have and add a die cut over the top and see what you can create! One stamp at a time!

Using Blending Brushes on the Basic White layer burnish a little more than the top half with Daffodil Delight ink.

Stamp the top half of the Rays of Light background stamp with the Daffodil Delight ink pad. Stamp the bottom half with the Cajun Craze ink pad slightly overlapping the yellow area. Using a blending brush wipe off some of the Cajun Craze ink in the center area to create a more graduated color gradient.

Adhere the Basic White inked layer to the Daffodil Delight layer and then to the Cajun Craze card base.
Die cut a few stems from the Meadows die set and arrange on the bottom right side of the card.

fresh as a daisy one sheet wonder cards

fresh as a daisy one sheet wonder cards

In the package of Fresh As A Daisy Designer Series Paper is an unusual page of mixed images. This one sheet wonder offers easy card making in a snap and I thought I would give you some ideas for this 12″ x 12″ paper. I have made eight cards from one sheet and additional card bases, ribbons and embellishments and a few extra scrap pieces for some sentiments!

Below is the original DSP sheet.

I found the easiest way to cut the sheet apart is to start at the top and cut the top section off 4 inch section right below the pink daisies and Wild Wheat bamboo section on Pretty Peacock.
Then revolve the paper and cut off the right hand side section with the Boho Blue dotted section and the daisies on the Wild Wheat background. Then cut apart the last two sections directly above the sky scene.
Now cut all the individual sections apart. You will have ten sections and I combined some of the smaller sections to create the eight cards.
I cut the small green section into 1/2″ strips and adhered one to each side of the pink daisy square and added it to a Shaded Spruce card base. I stamped the birthday sentiment from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set and added some Iridescent Rhinestone Basic Jewels to finish this easy card!
Next I cut the Boho Blue polka dotted section into 1/2″ strips and cut the daisies on the Copper Clay background in half. I made two cards with these pieces, adhering the strips on either side of the daisies sections and adding them to varying card bases.
I added Boho Blue ribbon to the first card and the 2023-2025 In Color Dots in the matching Copper Clay to finish this one.
This one is slightly different – adding the section directly to the Boho Blue layer and stamping the sentiment You Made My Day directly to that layer. I mixed and matched the In Color Dots using both prominent colors of Boho Blue and the Copper Clay.
This next card was super simple adding the section directly to an Early Espresso base and wrapping the Wild Wheat ribbon around the section before adhering to the base. I added a sentiment on Basic White scrap and added some Wild Wheat In Color Dots to finish.
The larger scenic images make designing a card super simple – doing all the work for you! I layered the sky scene onto a Boho Blue piece of cardstock and stamped the smaller flowers in Wild Wheat around the sentiment, with the Brushed Brass Butterflies finishing off this easy card!
Blending Brushes did all the work on this card, using a scrap of Basic White I stamped the sentiment in Pretty Peacock and added the same ink to the edges. I filled in the middle with Wild Wheat and adhered it to the middle of the card over the Bamboo image of DSP. I adhered two daisy die cuts to either edge of the sentiment piece and Brushed Brass Butterflies to finish!
This next card uses the last section of Boho Blue dotted paper and the Yellow striped paper.
I stamped the smaller flower cluster in Boho Blue ink around the sentiment and adhered the blue section to the left side added it to a Boho Blue layer and adhered all to a Crushed Curry base with a Boho Blue ribbon and Wild Wheat In Color Dots.
On the last card I used a base of Moody Mauve and matted both the Pebbled Path section and the Moody Mauve daisy section onto Pebbled Path cardstock. I stamped the smaller flower image and a sentiment from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set and popped it up over the two sections on Stampin’ Dimensionals. Adding Pebbled Path ribbon and In Color Dots pulls it all together for eight cards that let the DSP do all the work for you!

Hope you try this one sheet wonder technique soon and go create some artwork of your own – one stamp at a time!
