brilliant wings pop through closure card

brilliant wings pop through closure card

This fun closure card uses a butterfly die as the front closure – I did a card like this years ago with a great punch that we had but we discontinued it and we really have not had a great substitute until now! In the Something Fancy Die set we have a small thin die usually used to cut out smaller sentiment pieces but the shape and size is PERFECT for this past card idea – so I am redoing it with the Brilliant wings die set and the Fancy Flora DSP.

I had some left over supplies from the card I did for a recent library class and I used the cut card pieces for this sample.

Base: Fresh Freesia 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″
Basic White layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
Fancy Flora DSP” 3″ x 6″ scored at 5 3/8″
scrap Pool Party for the Brilliant Wings die cut
scrap Basic white for a Stylish Shapes circle die

Die cut one of the smaller butterflies from Brilliant Wings die set and die cut the Something Fancy die in the upper middle of the 3″ x 6″ piece of Fancy Flora DSP closer to the Scored end.

Adhere tape to the inside of the scored portion of the DSP and adhere to the upper middle back of the Basic White layer.
Then add adhesive to the back of the Basic White layer and adhere to the Fresh Freesia base.
Add adhesive to the butterfly body only and adhere through the die cut with the card front flap closed and rub to adhere the butterfly to the inside Basic white layer. With the wings open the card will remain closed but as you lift the card flap up the wings will raise and release the card flap to open the card!

Stamp the circle die with a sentiment – here I am using the two sentiments from the Color and Contour stamp set “here for you now” on the circle die and adhere that to the bottom right side of the flap.

Then stamp the second sentiment “and in Better Days ahead” in the lower middle of the Basic White layer so that it is hidden under the flap when the card is closed. Adhere the dsp cut from the card flap above the inside sentiment for some contrast and color.

Add some 2022-2024 In Color Matte Decorative dots bling to the card front and this quick and easy butterfly closure card is complete!

Now it is your turn – can you make a fun closure card? Go and create some art of your own – one stamp at a time!

Happy Stampin,

stitched rectangle peek through window card

stitched rectangle peek through window card

This card is super simple so I did not take step by step photos but it turned out so sweet that I wanted to feature it! I actually cut out the Stitched Rectangle die for another project from a 4 1/4″ x 11″ piece of Basic white cardstock that I had lying around. Because the die cut was straight and left a perfect border I thought it a shame to waste the cardstock by continuing to die cut with it and instead folded the cardstock in half and made a 4 1/4″ x 5 1/2″ card out of it, with a die cut rectangular window on the front panel. I cut two pieces of Favored Flowers Sale-a-bration FREE DSP. The piece to go on the inside under the window needs to be slightly wider than the window width and as long as the paper in my example it was 2 1/4″ x 4 1/4″. I cut a second piece the same size and used the reverse pattern on the left side of the card front. I fuzzy cut flowers to adhere to the card in the window corners for a multi-layered look and popped one on Stampin’ Dimensionals above the sentiment piece which uses a double layer banner die from the Stylish Shapes die set and Opaque Adhesive-Backed Gems as the embellishment. I extended the Banners over the opening to also give a multi-dimensional look. Hope you like the card and may it inspire you to go out and create a window card of your own – one stamp at a time!

favored flowers cards – sale-a-bration 11 days left

favored flowers cards – sale-a-bration 11 days left

When I first saw this paper in the Sale-a-bration catalog I wasn’t sure if I liked it or not!
But then I got it for FREE and started playing with it and it really makes stunning cards!

Here are some of the cards I have made using this paper! Remember Sale-a-bration ends at the end of this month and all the FREE merchandise goes away. The original offerings as well as the add ons!

My first card sample is one of the cards we will be making at this coming Wednesday’s card class at the Margaret Shontz Public Library in Conneaut Lake, PA there are still spaces available you can call Ruth at the library at 814-382-6666 to RSVP and reserve your spot to make 2 cards for $5 or 4 cards for $10!
I used the Timeworn Type embossing folder and the center focal piece is a 2 1/2″ x 4″ piece of Favored Flowers Sale-a-bration DSP. This lovely DSP is filled with bold flower images in Blackberry Bliss, Calypso Coral, Evening Evergreen, Fresh Freesia, Mossy Meadow, Petal Pink on Basic Black backgrounds for flowers and colors that pop off the page!

This second card is a similar layout with a different shaped Stylish Shapes die sentiment piece.
This next sample was featured in Wednesday’s blog post from all the swap cards I received. This one from Denise W. and deserved a second look! This offset gate fold card features two sides of this gorgeous paper on either side of the opening!
This card is a CASE from Pinterest it is a segmented DSP card and I loved the look so I made one of my own!

Measurements:
Blackberry Bliss base: 4 1/4″ x 11″
scored at 5 1/2″
Calypso Coral layer: 4″ x 5 1/4″
DSP: 3 3/8″ x 4 3/4″

Cut the bottom 1 1/8″ off.
cut that piece to two separate pieces one square 1 1/8″ and the other will be 2 2/8″ x 1 1/8″ Cut 1 1/8″ off the left edge and cut a 1 1/8″ square from the top of that piece. With the remaining rectangle cut the lower 1 1/8″ off and the cut the remaining rectangle in half at 1 1/8″
See the diagram below for the cuts.

Here are the cuts on the DSP and it is important to keep them in orde.
With multipurpose glue start at the top left hand corner and leaving an 1/8″ edge on the paper start to glue down the DSP. The Multipurpose glue will allow some “wiggle” room to straighten and maneuver the DSP into place.
Finish gluing down the rest of the segments of DSP in order so the pattern lines up. This will leave a small border on the right hand side. Stamp in Tuxedo Black Memento ink the Happy Birthday sentiment from the Something Fancy stamp set.
Add Matte Black dots around the sentiment. Add Pale Papaya ribbon to the top of the card to complete it!
This card I fussy cut one edge of the DSP to outline the flowers. I adhered it to the back side of the flower patterns are subtle geometric print.
This last card made with the Favored Flowers FREE DSP is a book binding card. I adhered the more subtle Fresh Freesia pattern to the book binding closure and the more bold patter to the card front on the right! I added Fresh Freesia ribbon to the book binding closure and a sentiment piece and Matte Black Dots to that sentiment.
Love this new bold DSP paper more than I thought I would – Remember just 10 more days to earn this paper and many other items during Sale-a-bration.
Use the current hostess code VFYMSRKJ.

Now go and creat some art of your own – one stamp at a time!
